Watching people rant about this god awful trilogy is a better time than actually watching these god awful movies.

Never, ever in my whole life have I wanted the hero/heroine to die at the end of a movie. Would have been better if she had stayed dead and kylo returned to his uncles farm to live out his life in solitude, metaphorically repenting for this trilogy.

By bringing back Darth Sidious, Disney has fundamentally uncut every sacrifice of the Original Trilogy. Luke's never-fleeting faith in his father, Anakin's ultimate redemption by finally fulfilling the prophecy. Everything was for not!! Our heroes suffered and died for nothing. Disney is ultimately sending the message that Good can never truly triumph over Evil. In the end, Rey, a Palpatine, literally buries the remnants of our hope as she colonizes Luke's childhood home & even dons the Skywalker name; Unjustifiably might I add. Let that sink in, Luke & Anakin's plight throughout this "Skywalker Saga" finally concludes with a Palpatine being the surviving bloodline. The spawn of the Emperor is now our "Hero". Absolutely sickening. The film really should've been called Rise of Palpatine...

Ryan Johnson really messed everything up... Oh wait, it was messed up back at the beginning when they made the first movie in a trilogy without planning a trilogy. Way to go Kathleen Kennedy...

F this trilogy, this is not a canon.

The Knights of Ren didn't matter. Rey's vision when she touched the lightsaber didn't matter. Palpatine being thrown down a shaft inside the Death Star didn't matter. Rose's character didn't matter at all. Jar Jar was more important than Rose. Snoke didn't matter. No, Palpatine was not part of the plan for this trilogy. Why would Palpatine reveal himself across the whole universe in the opening crawl? There being a map to Luke Skywalker didn't matter because he wanted to be left alone. The Empire being defeated in the original trilogy didn't matter. Rey finding out that her parents were nobodies didn't matter. Every single flirtatious line Finn used towards Rey in TFA didn't matter. Finn's character arc in this entire trilogy was apparently completed in TFA... Captain Phasma didn't matter. Both Jango Fett and Boba Fett were far more important. Using hyperspace as a weapon didn't matter anymore. Low chance of it working? BS! One thousand Death Stars via super star destroyers sounds like awful fan fiction. Viewers should have known in past movies that Rey is the granddaughter of Palpatine. Is Rey really the biological granddaughter of Palpatine? Were those her foster parents? Luke and Leia knowing about Rey's lineage the whole time was stupid. Where did the huge Rebel fleet come from? It looks dumb after watching TLJ. Anakin's redemption in Return of the Jedi is now undermined and anti-climactic. The Jedi dying in the prequels is undermined because of the concept of force healing. Force healing was decanonized because it was part of Legends, which is not canon. Luke died a soulless, angry coward. They can clone Palpatine, but not Luke or Snoke? Leia flying through space looks even worse. When was she trained? Why didn't we see it? TIE fighters and smaller fighter ships can't use light-speed. This is lore breaking... Force ghosts can't physically touch animate or inanimate objects, such as lightsabers. Force ghosts can't magically cast down lightning from the sky... Viewers never received a logical explanation on how Maz acquired Luke's lightsaber. The main characters not knowing about stormtroopers using jetpacks was stupid. Using Jedi mind-tricks is so inconsistent. Why didn't Rey and Ben use it in TLJ? Rey's survival at the end was not earned or warranted. Why did multiple characters need to know Rey's last name in this film? It's not genuine. If Jedi can use the force as a travel map, why couldn't Rey find the Death Star wreckage? How would the rebels know about there being a spy in the First Order? General Hux was a wasted character. There was no point of him being in this film. General Hux watched billions of people die on three different planets in TFA. Dumb move. There's so much more.

Palpatine was not only desintegrated after falling into Death Star core but decimated after the explosion on the whole station... LAZY creativity and they had absolutely nothing new to explain or expand in his lore. What a piece of cheap crap...

The entire Disney Star Wars is nothing BUT a marketing ploy.

Palpatine: I am all the Sith. Rey: and I... am Iron-Man. Snaps her fingers and Palpatine turns to dust. Rey falls to the ground with her eyes open and looking grey... Just like Iron-Man in Endgame. JJ should be fined for plagiarism. Worst movie ever!!!!!!!

So it's true, then. A person tweeted to Mark Hamill about how he bought almost $500 worth of tickets to see this movie and said that it had better be good. Mark tweets back and says that he could wait for it to come out on cable. Geeks and Gamers covered that story.

Great. Palpatine still being alive makes Anakin Skywalker's sacrificing himself 30 years ago almost totally irrelevant. ​ Vader killing Palpatine was one of the most pivotal and memorable moments in all of star wars. It was a great end for both Vader and Palpatine when you consider their relationship. All that is now irrelevant because. Guess what! Palpatine isn't really dead.

Luke trying to kill Ben because he didn't see him turning to the light side of the force didn't make sense. Rey saw the good in Ben, that Luke should have seen, just like he saw it in his father. Darth Vader didn't show he is struggling with being with the dark side of the force. Ben struggled all the way through two three movies.

Disney invested 100's of millions of dollars to make this trilogy WITHOUT a plan or overall story. I cannot think of anything dumber or senseless.

You're right, this isn't a win. It's destruction of a mythology. There's a lot I could say about Rian Johnson, JJ Abrams, and Kathleen Kennedy, but what it boils down to is they took something that was important to a lot of people, that was timeless, and they tried to make it relevant. By doing this, they forgot to have a plan and they forgot to tell a good story. As a result, it's disposable now.

Star Wars : The Rise of the Last McGuffin Awakens.

They need to start over and have these three films as some kind of wacked dream. Start over with Luke waking up from some toxic alien milk drink dream.

It's so absurd and disconnected that it's supremely easy to watch the OT without any disturbance in the force.

The trouble is the sheer number of people going to see this “to get it over with” or “to see how bad it is” - $15 is $15 and it all contributes to an unearned and un reflective box office, which if high enough will lead to more of the same.

Palpatine: "I am inevitable." *shoots lightning* Rey: "And I...am...Iron Man!" *deflects with sabers, turning Palpatine to dust*

Can you imagine how wonderful this trilogy would have been if it had the redemption of Ben Solo at its very core? Adam Driver was the best thing in these 3 films and he should have been the central character - no Rey, no Finn, no Poe, no other unnecessary characters. Have the story of Han & Leia’s son turning to the dark side and over the course of the trilogy have them, Luke, and eventually, Anakin, help turn him back to the light. A new war between the First Order & the Rebellion could be playing out in the background (just as the Emperor’s take over of the galaxy was in the prequels) which is where new characters could be introduced, even a love interest for Ben Solo. Having Anakin play a major part (somehow? come back to life somehow?) and fight Ben to bring him back to the light would have also given a connection to the previous six films: Prequel Trilogy - the fall of Anakin Skywalker: Original Trilogy: the redemption of Anakin Skywalker: Sequel Trilogy: the legacy of Anakin Skywalker. Kathleen Kennedy, JJ Abrams, and all at LucasFilm made a fundamental error in the set up of that first film by pinning their hopes on many characters we didn’t care about in a story that was just a cheap rehash that had nothing to do with the main character of the previous six films.

The Star Wars 'saga' ended with Return of the Jedi as far as I'm concerned. This Disney trilogy is fan-fic.

So Palpatine orchestrated the creation of not only the clone army but storm troopers and the first order as well as a giant armada sitting at the bottom of the ocean? How? Is his secret Sith power the ability to create armies out of nothing?

I learned two things from this trilogy: what a "mary sue" is and Adam Driver is a great actor. That's pretty much it.

Kylo somehow finds a fully functional TIE fighter in the destroyed Death Star remnants submerged under water and he flies it across galaxies without hyperdrive in a matter of hours.

NEXT STAR WARS Rey VS Superman

There's a documentary about the British Navy's desire to have accurate timekeeping at Sea (for navigational reasons) - and the guy who invents the "pocket watch" for lack of a better memory - a wound timepiece that keeps accurate time to the second - proves that his device works at sea by sailing from England to the Caribbean and back. The guy is basically banking on the reward to be able to make more watches, and the Admiralty refuse to admit he has succeeded, calling the COMPLETE SUCCESS of his voyage a "one off event that cannot be replicated" and then locking the timepiece in a box at the Admiralty. Sounds like they're trying to do the same thing with the Holdor Maneuver. "Lock it in a box, you can't ever do that again, because it breaks 40 years of storytelling."

For me the greatest miscarriage is this new force healing ability. Anakin Skywalker’s turn to the dark side is built around three deaths, arguably the three most pivotal moments of the entire saga and coming to terms with being unable to save them. Qui-Gon in Episode I - he lost his mentor Shmi in Episode II - he lost his mother Padme in Episode III - he lost the love of his life In his attempts to avoid the third loss he is seduced by false promises from Palpatine and sacrifices Anakin Skywalker to the dark side... yet in The Rise of Skywalker and The Mandalorian, force sensitive characters are healing mortal wounds. Death is no longer a consequence, let alone the driving motivation of the saga’s key protagonist.

When Rey had three OP force moments in five minutes during their little trip to Planet Burning Man I started laughing. The 24 or so other people in the theater (here in Japan) were also unimpressed. Also, Force Skype is now apparently a delivery service.

I remember leaving Revenge of the Sith feeling "ah well, it's all finished now" and living with a tiny spark of hope that one day George would come back and say, "I have an idea" , so when he entrusted Disney to make more Star Wars I assumed he had a plan, he probably did, but Disney had other ideas. I was wary of Disney taking it on and I was right. It is not a company that creates, it simply repackages it's content, like selling burgers you come back for more of the same. As for George I think he thought he was selling to "Walt Disney", the Disney of his childhood, my childhood, not this corporate machine. Thank you for the review.

I disagree that anakins turn to the dark side was too quick. The story of the prequels was brilliant.

One of the many, many things that hacked me off was the lack of relationship development between the characters. All they did was bicker, there was no real friendship apparent. And what was up with the Rey/Kylo kiss at the end? And oh, don't worry Finn, you get this other lady to love now, with an almost identical backstory. AND did you notice the lesbian kiss forced into the background at the "celebration"? They try to work these things in as if it's just normal, but it's forced and if I was LGBQT+ I'd be a tad insulted. I went as early as I could to avoid being biased by reviews, and I kinda expected it to be okay, but I didn't expect that cluster cuss of a mess. It wasn't just a bad Star Wars movie, it was a bad movie.

After watching all of this, I'm reminded of this chart that one entertainment site (it might have been IGN) put out a few years ago that mapped out the entire timeline of the Star Wars movies. The prequel trilogy was at one side of the chart with a caption that said "These don't matter right now." Now that people have seen the totality of this expensive Disney fan fiction, and have come to realize just how badly it was all put together, I think some of those people will be running back to the far end of that chart just to enjoy something that is quintessentially Star Wars again. Outside of the Original Trilogy that is. Oh and there's the EU that Kathleen Kennedy pretends doesn't exist as well.

I loved Rogue, thought episode 7 was decent but safe, solo was meh....but episode 8 was a complete departure from the SW universe. Its like 8 year Olds are writing these scripts. Nothing makes sense in the known SW universe any more,plot holes,paradoxes,contradictions and surprise mysteries have crippled the franchise to me. After an intriguing revival in episode 7 to utter childs play. I get dumber after watching episode 8....I will get this movie when it comes out,nothing more. This will probably be my last SW I will purchase simply to complete the set and put it to rest. So depressed about these missed opportunities

The visual of Lando's armada was so over the top, I actually laughed when it popped up on the screen. The whole thing (this movie and the Disney trilogy) was a sad waste of time.

Dude, is it true that the last battle between Rey and Palpatine is so epic, especially when Rey hyperspaces herself towards palpatine who is bent over on his throne and she goes inside him? And he yells DEW IT?

If the Disney Trilogy patient is terminal, the best that can be done is hiatus hospice. Maybe some Mandalorian radiation and Obi-Wan chemo can turn the tide.

Best review I’ve seen. Your points are perfect and everything I thought about driving home from the cinema. The movie felt like a SW Avengers mixup. Rey completely unstoppable and at no point experiencing defeat. In the previous movies Anakin got his ass handed to him several times and limbs cut off. Luke was never completely unstoppable and you actually felt like he could be beaten. In TROS we never feel danger because the characters can’t be defeated and Rey can do things we never seen the most powerful jedis pull off. Something that really annoyed me was how much the main characters fought and argued. You never felt like they really worked together but instead it’s just Rey being overpowered and winning the thing for everyone. I actually liked Kylo Ren but in like 10 mins he is suddenly good and known as Ben again. Amazing we have to deal with such poorly written story in one of the biggest franchises of all time. This movie will be forgotten very soon and is non canon in my eyes. The whole Choosen one just means nothing now and the way they treated the original important characters was a disgrace and annoying to watch.

Anyone who goes into a JJ Abrams film expecting something great will _always_ be disappointed. JJ simply doesn't possess the proper story writing skills to pull off an ending of a series like Star Wars. Endings are hard to write a the best of times. Unfortunately, because JJ's hands were tied because of his choice to use previously filmed Carrie Fisher material, it severely limited this film's potential. I absolutely agree with you, using Carrie's previously shot footage was a mistake for this film. It's great that Carrie got an homage in The Rise of Skywalker, but it was at the expense of the film itself. Of course, Carrie's scenes are not the overall problem with this film, there are many other problems besides this one.

There is a trilogy worth of content right here in this movie. It’s so unbelievably rushed, we are talking Usain Bolt pacing. The first hour of the film feels like it’s being fast forwarded. There are Never any quiet moments for any big events to have emotional impact. From a technical standpoint and production levels, this has to be the worst Star Wars out of the lot. Even The Phantom Menace is a more coherent film.

So, they destroyed Han in The Force Awakens, Luke in The Last Jedi and Leia in this one. How wonderful...

I agree wholeheartedly. I had a strong feeling this was going to happen back in 2012 when Star Wars was sold off, I was pretty damn sad to hear the news.

This is just a little thinking I did, but imagine if the opening crawl of the force awakens said something like this, The Empire is gone. The new Republic is growing and a period of peace and prosperity has come to the galaxy. But this new Republic is young and faces troubles within and without. Luke Skywalker has rebuilt the jedi order and together with his sister, 'senator' Organa, has molded the new Jedi into diplomats and peace keepers. Luke's own niece and nephew are his star pupils, they are powerful jedi as the blood of Skywalker runs in their veins. They, along with Luke, are on a mission to save a dying world. But here, at the edge of the republic's domain, near the unknown regions, a new threat is rising....

Your Lord of the Rings analogy is perfect, thank you for putting how I felt about it into words! My big issue was HOW did Palpatine survive and orchestrate all this? He would have needed a serious support structure and how did he stay invisible all this time?

If there is one good thing that comes out of this film, I hope that it is a flat-out rejection of Disney Star Wars' "Sequel Trilogy" as a legitimate continuation of George Lucas' Star Wars Saga by the fanbase at large.

The ewoks looking at the destruction of the star destroyer had also been Holdo'd as well, it was quite absurdly done. Charlie from Lost, merry brandybuck the hobbit, Dominic Monaghan was a bit of cringe as a rebel/resistance crew member alongside the Lost regulars in the background.

Never thought I'd live see the day I would prefer to see Luke milking a giant sea cow 😮.

As fans we laughed at how stupidly overpowered 'Starkiller' was in the game "The Force Unleashed", but it was only a game, not truly canon....so someone pulling a Star Destroyer out of the sky with the Force was something we couldn't take seriously, right? 9_9

Super forced story. Plot holes and Maggufins through the entire movie. Actors did their best. Not even special effects could save this. I kept saying out loud... Wtf is this? Worse than all the leaks combined. No respect for George Lucas. No respect for the original trilogy. No respect for the fans. It was a corporate gimic sticker book saga. Palpatines worse performance. Last Jedi died in 5 major elements. This one. I have atleast 300.

The han solo scene was the only thing in this movie that made me feel any emotion

The hardest I’ve laughed in a movie theater in a long time was when they burst out of the drop ship on the llama horse things. My sister and I couldn’t breathe for 60+ seconds laughing. It just seemed to perfectly cap off the preposterous MacGuffin hunt that was the first half or more of the film. “Jam their speeders!” “Sir, they’re not on speeders!” It was like something out of Spaceballs. The worst part of TRoS for me was the fact that there’s actually things that could have worked and been interesting to watch had they been properly set up at all in the previous two movies.

Say whatever you wish about Rian Johnson, but he had more creative ideas about what to do with the story in one movie than JJ Abrams did in two...

Two logic questions after watching it: 1. How did Kylo Ren get a functioning Tie Fighter from inside the destroyed Death Star ruins? 2. How did he get to the Emperor's planet without hyperdrive, cause an old Tie doesn't have one?

If they released the last two episodes of Mandalorian in the cinema I'd have gone to see that. Not this, though! Between TLJ and the trailers I've seen so far, I get to save some money and stay home this Christmas.

The sad part is, most of the people viewing this video haven’t seen the movie (and they have a good reason). Who would’ve thought that a lot of us would be okay with “spoilers” of a new Star Wars movie before seeing it? It’s hard to explain but I’m essentially saying that the true Star Wars fans don’t care about spoilers when we would if the story was good in the first place. It’s a shame. Good video man.

When you watch the original Trilogy and how grounded it is in reality and real characters with timeless arcs its truly a nightmare to see what a dumpster fire this thing has turned into.
