The prosecutor's opening, his pacing, his narrative and his weaving of facts into his account of events was enthralling and created a very high bar for the defense. Her account, on the other hand, was very weak, basically not contesting anything but wants juror to keep an open mind. Waiting for mental health testimony.

Too hard to say this early. I was just watching old footage of Casey Anthony's trial, and everyone ripped her lawyer apart for presenting a theory during opening statements that they didn't think he could back up. But it ended up working. This might be a part of her strategy, but we won't know until the end....

Can you imagine? The degree of irrational behavior this guy did in order to avoid parental disappointment is simply too outrageous to comprehend. A 23 yr old guy getting caught in a lie by his parents, from whom he is emancipated and free to leave anytime he wants, thinks it’s a good idea to spend the rest of his life in prison to hide his temporary embarrassment. I guess this is yet another example of an immature brain in action.

Recent research found that teen's brains don't fully mature with regard to logic, planning , impulse control & consequences until age 25. Yes this will be the defense. I caught that defense that was questioning about not making a defense. The defense isn’t going to dig the hole deeper and hope the jury is going to have a reasonable doubt. There’s no DNA or witness so only defense besides the life lies is technically circumstantial. But we have all known of murders (maybe I’ve just read) when webs of lies collapse.

As has been said with a number of cases previously, most notably Casey Anthony, if Chandler had put the same amount of effort in to college, &/or getting a job, as he did to deceive his parents that he was actually doing those things, he wouldn’t have backed himself into a corner…although, I suspect with his personality, genuine hard work & being authentic is impossible & deceiving, lying & manipulating is his way of life
