thanks to all of your videos and blog posts lynn i ended up leaving my unpaid apprenticeship (where i worked 47 hours a week while being a full time student) and filing a wage claim against the studio, they currently owe me over $3k and i wouldnt have been able to get my hard earned money if it weren’t for you. saying you’re an inspiration and my role model is an understatement ♡♡♡

I keep discovering more and more red flags that I was dealing with throughout my first apprenticeship. I’ve been watching all of your videos and with each one coming out, I feel more secure about being this industry with the knowledge that I gain. On top of all of this, your personal advice has helped me and saved me from making a bad decision that left me in a not-so-good apprenticeship. Thank you.

For anyone who is in an abusive employment situation - law schools often have free legal clinics that provide representation. Whether it be family law, a contract dispute, or a criminal case, there may be support available to you. Access to justice should never be limited to those who can afford it.

I don't know how this video doesn't have more views, honestly. This is so important, and content like this heavily influences which shops I even choose to go to for piercings.

I’m in a bad apprenticeship and I’m afraid to say or do anything about it bc I really don’t wanna lose this opportunity and I’ve heard about way way worse stories from any shops around me. (I’m already going to one an hour away)

Could you talk more about the competitor contracts? I’m 99% sure mine wouldn’t hold up in court, the shop address is outdated as we’ve moved studios, we are now not just a piercing studio but a regular store too - we signed the contracts before becoming retail so surely that makes it outdated too? Or is my boss expecting us not to be able to work supermarkets either post employment? I’m not sure if mentioning it to my boss would benefit me or if it would make her try to get us to sign new contracts and backfire. Any advice or thoughts you have would really be insightful for me Lynn!
