I have a 6 inch screwdriver and was able to remove the seat. It's not easy because everything on this freaking seat moves when you try this. Keep the base steady, keep the back steady - everything wants to swivel, which is what makes this difficult. Push up on that screwdriver as it goes in, keep pushing up as you remove the seat. With two people you can get it done with few or no curse words. Just me, it took many attempts. But I assure you, even with a 6 inch screwdriver it will come off.

Looks amazing. Not possible in practice. Tried 4 screw drivers.

Thanks for this, after purchasing a new seat pad, instructions from steelcase had no mention of pulling the seat pad handle as I slid seat pad. Very helpful!

Thank you, thank you, thank you. I recently removed and replaced the cylinder on my Steelcase Leap V2. Your video was instrumental. Your instructions are concise, detailed, and well thought out. I used a universal cylinder replacement and when I was done, the seat height adjustment lever would not work at all. When I was not sitting, the chair would rise up to the highest level and as soon as I sat on it, it would sink to the lowest level; no in between. I could only find a short video from another company that services Steelcase. The instructions were not clear and after watching it and trying to remove the seat, I was a bit frustrated. I found your video on removing the seat and it was perfect, seat slid right out. The video from the other company showed me what to do to adjust the seat height lever with a Hex screw driver and again it was not precise and it took al long time to get it right. After many attempts, he chair is now working perfectly. I know that had you demonstrated on how to adjust the seat height lever I would not have been so perplexed and I could have saved a lot of time. Please, to help other DIY ladies out there, make a video that combines the removal of the seat and the repair of the height adjustment lever. Your videos are an inspiration! I am 71 as is my friend who helped me with this project. We couldn’t have done it without you.

My chair is a little bouncy when I sit in it, should that be a tighten or a loosen for the adjustment inside?

Is there a way to remove the seat pad if it didn't come with the lever on the left side?

Thanks for this. I didn't use a screwdriver -- I used the blunt end of a really long drill bit. You just need something thin and sturdy to wedge the latch up. It's the same process to remove the seat pan from the Steelcase Amia. I of course want to put the Amia seat cushion onto the Leap frame to create the Lamia.

I don't have a seat depth level because I purchased it used and didn't know. Is there a way to remove it still? thanks.

I had flathead screwdriver that was 8 inches (standard), but it wasn't long enough! I went to the hardware store, longest they had was 9 inches, not long enough! I bought a piece of 24 inch long, 1/8th inch flat iron and used that.
