No Food Scrap Challenge Complete!
It was a great day scrapping and some work to unload at the scrap yard but we got our money for the day and headed off to the grocery store to get our food.
Aside from scrap steel I think there's about $40 of left over scrap to process at home, so another small grocery shop in that.
The idea of this challenge was just to show people that may be short of cash and are struggling to put some food on the table that where there's a will, there's a way.
Here in Australia the entire winter has hard rubbish collection and if you search council websites you will find the dates of collection.
This area was a bonus early season collection as they have two per year but most are once per year so the scrap piles are even bigger and not unusual for scrappers to get 4 loads in a day.
Keep scrapping & Have fun!

I used to love garbage picking as a kid, I found a lawnmower with a blown engine in the trash and sold the carburetor to a lawn mower repair shop for $8. Not bad for a kid with a few nickels in his pocket. I’d get a trailer with plywood sides and load up on scrap steel and put all the electronics, copper, brass and aluminum in the back of the van. Your hobby is truly a valiant green effort that’s fun to watch, thanks for the content.

May god bless you and your family. Thank you for your transparency and honesty. On another word $75 dollars american dollars for 2hrs of work is really good money. People have this illusion that they come to America and they will be sweeping money on a corner. News flash!!! Thats not the case!! You have people struggling just like any country.

WOW! This was really eye opening! Ben, I believe you have outdone yourself! The comparisons of Australia and the US Struck me as odd, The agriculture that your country has is unbelievable, but yet your prices are Jacked way up, I really do not comprehend that, Just a side note, I read yesterday that Australia is being bought up by China, All the farms are being bought by China, And then Everything they produce is tax free because they fall under humanitarian rules, You may know something about that that I don't. But this video is awesome, It shows that a person Can feed their family with just a few hours of work A-day, And you weren't even trying hard, Imagine what a person can do Yes they work All day With multiple trips, You not only could just feed your family but make a decent living. Again my friend, Thank you For your time and efforts to help Show people what is capable!

Yeah the chinese have been buying up a lot of agriculture land but so too have america & the UK, the gov't are starting to regulate it better to protect the food supply, same as houses, they are buying up in areas with good schools & hospitals making property sky rocket, good for some but bad for anyone else wanting to move in

Not in Perth unfortunately. My current scrap yard only pays 5c kg for steel. That entire van load of 580 kg, I would get $29 for. Not worth the time + running expenses on vehicle. I'm sure there are yards that pay more than that, I go there because I get good prices for brass and copper, but at best, the highest price I've ever got from any yard in Perth was 8c kg for light gauge general stuff and up to 12 or 15c for heavy gauge, brake drums etc. But at 5c a kg, not even worth picking it up IMO

I'm rewatching these feed the family challenges Ben. Can you do more of these please? They are so great, kind of bread and butter survival tips for people, that we all enjoy watching. I usually have a bit of a whine about Perth scrap prices lol ☺ but just ignore that. Such a cry baby I am 😉 but I love how you are relaxed doing it, enjoying it, no stress. I'm like that. I just love it. Usually grab a coffee and pack a bag of cold drinks. I find although physically hard sometimes, relaxing in another sense. Kind of being your own boss, managing your own time. I'll have to catch up with your latest videos. Thank you

At 14:41 and a few seconds later, I always keep fasteners and hardware items, like nuts and bolts to build whatever I need. It's worth MUCH more to me to keep than the steel value. Benny, when you build that country property you'll need that stuff for all kinds of things. At 35:01, that's an expansion card. Plugs into one slot but provides two more. And if you make a lightweight 'claw' from a rod and right angled part about 15 cm long, you can claw the distant salvage out of your van with ease. I was almost crying at scrapping those tools at 45.39 - test them at home and then scrap them later if they don't work. I know Yarraville, Newport, Williamstown, Altona areas really well, love those areas. Williamstown is very historic. The Royal Yacht Club of Vic. is in Williamstown, was a member there for many years. Love your vids Benny, keep them coming. I'd love it if you could do a scrap of Williamstown!!

1.34 in you mentioned finding lots of trophies which was strange you had said, reminded me of when me and the missis was doing kirbsiding in Brisbane we would target stuff to resell and basically anything we thought we could Cash on including scrap metal anyhow storage stuff like that would happen as well if we wanted a curtain for our house we would keep an eye out then all of a sudden we would find 5 of the exact type we wanted so we had enough for us plus sell the rest........ Saved enough for. Deposit for a property doing that good times
