Hi I'm Kathryn!
I am a former soloist with the New York City Ballet and Miami City Ballet. When I was a young student, I was always looking for insights into the ballet world and how to improve my dancing as well as beauty and lifestyle tips. Now that I am a professional, it is my turn to share.
On my channel I make ballet, beauty, and lifestyle videos for everyone of all ages. My goal is help dancers improve and achieve their dreams as well as open up the ballet world to non dancers. This is so beautiful . It will be really challenging for me, but I’m very excited to try this. I will definitely do it on flat and then maybe try parts of the barre in pointe shoes. I feel that the tendu exercises in pointe shoes really help strengthen your feet even more.

I did it on flat shoes and was so happy to see that you made a center too. I tried it and was able to follow along ! Still need to improve my arabesque and my développé though :)

childhood competitive figure skater here, turned adult ballet dancer about 2 years ago... this class is *perfect* for my skill level right now! just simple enough where I don't have to watch a portion of an exercise repeatedly to understand and challenging enough to really work technique. Hi Miss Kath, i want it to thank you so so much for this class. I've benn struggling with ballet because i started a more intermediate- advanced class in my ballet school where all the girls are awesome and i just feel out of place there and so defeated at times... also i´m having a hard time with my body lately because of body dismorphia and feel so ugly. Today i wanted to take this class from you because i wanted to feel better about myself and it felt amazing, i loved it and enjoy it so so much, thank you and please please never stop doing this incredible classes, lots of love all the way from Argentina, and once again, thank you ! 😊

i was going to do this class but instead i just sat and watched your beautiful barre work instead. So beautiful. I was also literally thinking i wonder which part of the studio this is when you answered my internal question with "this is not the new studio by the way if you were wondering" such perfect freaky timing hahaha. I may rewind after i finish watching to do the class myself or ill do it another day, Either way you've inspired me, maybe i won't skip ballet tomorrow afterall. Thank You

Hey I have one question doing with the tendus so when your doing one after the plíe is there a different name for the three quicker “tendus”? And what is the name of the step after the tendus where you bring your leg up into passé and extend it out

Hi, I have an important question. Yesterday we were doing demi plies with arms in first position. And I noticed that I don‘t know how far I have to go down the demi plies. My ballet friend told me that there is an easy rule: You really have to go as far down as possible without lifting your feet from the ground. Is that rule right? Because when I follow this rule I have the feeling that I am way to deep in my demi plie. Pleasee help! Ps: Sorry for my english mistakes. I am from germany.

Yes! Go down as far as you can without lifting your heels. It is good that you can go far down, a deep plié is very beautiful

Hi Kathryn! I play piano for my local ballet company and classes in university dance department, and while I get compliment from company dancers/professors a lot, I am still very self-conscious about my improvisation skill--I basically have NONE. 99% of the time I stick to the sheet music I chose, and I am worried the dancers may be sick of hearing the same thing after having 3 classes with me. I do want to loosen up and be playful, but since I am always assigned to advance classes, the pace is much faster and I am just too afraid to mess up, so I always chicken out at last minute and stick to my same old sheet music. Like you said in one of the "ballet myth" videos, most dancers are nice people, so I always wonder the compliment I get from the dancers is just them being kind. What's your thought about musicians who can't improvise? Thanks in advance!
