When I was working at Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club, my one female co-worker, I’ll call her Amber for private reasons, and I were always working on door. We’ve had multiple people tell us that we should be dating, including other co-workers. We never felt that way about each other. If anything, we were more like “siblings.” Ironically, when Amber dyed her hair blonde, we really looked like we were siblings. In a general sense its a gamble for you and your job.

I've noticed that schedules are arranged in a way that I never take breaks with coworkers on my floor - we might cross each other coming or going but there is not a lot of opportunity to fraternize off hours. Honestly I just want to cover their hours and it's hard to be in-the-know when you're not on friendly terms.

I understand to risk of dating your coworkers especially if it goes wrong but at the same time I dated my future wife while working at a local restaurant so I guess the gamble paid off.

In my experience dating anyone you work with is bad idea.

Luckily at my retail grocery store we don't have this problem. It's only the teenagers still in school who are dating each other. A few are already married to co-workers but have been so for at least 20 years and worked at other places before working at my store. Thank God for small blessings.

I really liked a girl that worked for me we never dated but we talked a lot. Come to find out from she was trying to set me up so she could file a harrassment claim and get a settlement. I found out that she had done this before at a previous job. I immediately went super professional and only talked to her when it was necessary for work i really dodged a bullet. Here’s one ... I was working in the apartment maintenance (handyman) field and long story short, I started “dating” the property manager. It absolutely trashed her and I’s professional relationship (hulk smashed it) ! Side note : I was also sleeping with a few women that lived in the community. Needless to say , it didn’t end well . I've actually held up the "me?" sign(it said "will you marry me?") that a guy wanted his co-workers to hold for his proposal to his gf(also worked same shift as us. They met in the store.) they're a happy couple and have been married for a few years now. Just today one of my other co-workers is officially dateing our managers sister.(I don't know how well that will go.) I've also met my bf at this store. We've been together for 5 years now. And we've become the overnight crew "power couple". Managers come to either of us for almost every job, because they know we'll get it done. Even our main boss of the store knows, and finds it alright that we work together.(we don't really talk while working, and keep things professional.) But I have also seen some bad break ups. And even my ex(I met at McDonalds when I worked there) was a horrible person. I really regret that relationship(I tried to end in week 2, he said "no" and we wound up "together" for 2 years. Took a month of hiding from him for him to finally accept the break up) So work relationships can be awful, but sometimes it works out.

Last retail job I had was all men so no real dating (though it could've happened). Only thing close to it was the assistant manager would be watching porn on the computers openly, even the POS systems up front in full view of the front door n windows. He'd even leave it still running on the screen when he'd head out to the bank or 1 of his "haircuts" (though he was bald, wore a toupee, he was going to the strip joint down the street). He's 1 of those guys who treated women like shit. But then he treated every1 like shit n got away with it for over a decade. Tales from retail viewer submissions. At Walmart I accidentally hit a cart with the scissor lift and the cart tagged this Russian lady. I kept asking her to move but I guess she didn't speak English. Then the cart hit her and she started yelling at me in Russian. Luckily she couldn't speak English to turn me in hahaha. So I just went to the ceiling where I couldn't hear her complaint anymore. In my defense if you see that giant machine most people move... Not her!

I must just be oblivious. I never dated anyone I worked with in retail. And I never knew any of my coworkers were dating. I'm sure there was drama a what not but I was just there to put in my hours and leave. That being said I have dated a girl that worked for the same company but on a completely different shift. Not in retail this is in the medical field. Since we never really worked together there wasn't much in the way of drama. There was a little bit, mostly from other people talking. But we interacted at work so little it didn't really matter. Still wouldn't date someone I worked with directly. I might date someone on another shift again. But probably not. Frankly I'll probably never date again, to much work, to old, don't really care anymore.

Video Idea: I only worked at Walmart for 3 months back in 2017, but in my time there, I was CAP2, Cashier, and Cart Crew, in that order. My general idea is to maybe bring in someone like Steven, since he was carts, and probably had to deal with CSMs more than you did. My experience with the CSMs was less-than-good. There was one cool dude, and the others were girls around my age (18) or old women, and the female CSMs were horrible. They were so entitled and really just rode on their "haha i have some kind of power over you" high, and I finally got sick of it and had an emotional break-down, and the front-end manager gave me a coaching for it. I went home and didn't come back after that. Basically, talk about CSMs and how shitty they are.

I've had the ale you're drinking today, and it was dreadful. Absolutely horrendous. I don't recommend it to anyone. Rubbing alcohol probably tastes better.
