I've been saying this all along. AI scares the hell out of me. It's like you don't know what's real or what's fake anymore. It's too much

I work in tech and when a lot of this hit the popular market I got so concerned. We need more governance, ethical examinations, basically, we need more Ian Malcom moments before we get past the point of no return. stop asking CAN we do this and ask SHOULD we instead. Al isn't just going to take over the world on its own. The people BUILDING it WILL.

I work in customer service over the phone and most of our customers are elderly. Someone reported on audio AI and how scammers can use it to represent someone's voice and the recording for fraud. The advice given was to never say yes over the phone. This can be used as a fraudulent consent in an over the phone contract. For that same reason we need people to use the word yes for an agreed purchase. I have had some customers decline a purchase from us, a reputable business, because they are so scared to say the word on the phone. The nightmare of the dark side of AI is just starting.

The saddest thing about this is the fact that haters will either dismiss this or condemn her even more, for example when she pulled her entire catalog off from Spotify as a gesture to demand better royalty payments where the haters dismissed it as "greedy move", probably people are outraged at how Taylor became the reason of how AI legislations have to be made. Also, this isn't the first harassment she faced; remember the "Get you on the phone and mind-twist you" lyric of one of her song? Also remember the the fact that a radio host harassed her and the harasser had to pay $1 and yet people were still dismissing this case? Yeah... And yes, Midnights is my top favorite!

I definitely hope that she will sue the sh*t of out them. Not just for herself, but also to make precedent and show them that they are not safe from punishment.

Also, please do make long form/deep dive type videos if you want. I genuinely enjoy listening to you. The topics you cover are interesting and even informative to me, so I'm here for it.

Frankly, I think if she should sue the AI companies for revenge porn, since there are laws about that and allowing these kind of images could qualify as such.

My friend showed me one of these images after seeing it Twitter and was none the wiser that it was a disgusting AI Amalgamation. Since I’m an artist (and know basic Taylor Swift stuff) I immediately clocked it and seeing it made me very upset. This deepfake era is so dangerous. Just like she has copyright to her music it should be suable because her face is her own and no one else, same as voice actors and their voices. She and others need to sue these people (or these people should be fined GREATLY) into the dirt for this. There’s no excuse for fair use when you’re using someone FACE (something only they own) and putting them on explicit content. There are people who are willing to put themselves out there and make Sexual content for others to enjoy, a lot of it is free. there’s absolutely no reason to force unsuspecting people to play a role in the sick fantasies of incels AI needs to be made trackable so we can find the creators and punish them or anyone involved in the making of content like this. It’s not just women, it is children. No one’s family is safe until this is shut down.

As a tool to improve workflow, I think AI has it's place, but in general I do not think AI will ever be appropriate for widespread public use without some heavy legislation in place. I'm in a digital art community and even there the issues with copyright and digital ownership/privacy are being hotly debated, and in general most people have a disdain for AI. Hopefully this is a big enough wakeup call for legislatures to realize this could have a huge negative impact on any country

Legally, it should be considered revenge porn and punished as such. Want to create it? Fine. But you should not be allowed to make it public, sell it, or circulate it. We can't ban personal use, there is no way to enforce it. (doesn't mean I like it, but we can't stop personal use and creation of it. They could just draw it or use Photoshop, too. I hate it, but we have no way to stop it but educate people to show more respect) But once you share it, you have crossed the line and should be held accountable. Edit: The idea of this being used on kids made me want to scream. I hate AI so much. All AI should be legally required to not process any request with words including children and inappropriate content. God, I feel sick.

If you want to make longer and more in depth videos, I suggest cutting them into parts. I love informational/in depth videos, but in short spurts. If you cut it up into the topics that you want, that would be cool. But also you do you. Love the vids

I think the bigger issue is still that these are art theft machines, not that people are using the art theft machines to make porn. People have been making fanart or photoshopped porn of celebrities since the dawn of the internet, as unfortunate and uncomfortable as that is, so long as they are not claiming the images as real, it's inevitable and impractical to try and shut that down every time it pops up. It is very different to target small platform creators or people without platforms, celebrities have resources available to them to protect themselves with that regular people don't have.

I saw some of the images: A lot were really bad taste parodies like putting her in compromising positions with Oscar the Grouch and Mr Krabbs. Like it is designed to be ridiculous and I think the people posting it were just shocked that AI could create this stuff.

Was just talking about this exact topic before the Swift story broke. It was already happening so much in fan fic sites. And yes, please, long form videos are very welcome.

just my personal preference but if you have a 4 hour video i think it would be better to make it 4 1 hour videos. find the topics to make them interesting on their own. i could be the odd one out but i would try and find some stats on how longer videos do vs shorter ones, but personally i avoid anything over an hour. i just don't have the focus and find they tend to wander and could be more concise.

Way I see it, this can apply to everything nowadays, everyone is so care-free and don't care about repercussions because law enforcement is so outdated and barely do anything. Oof, I could talk hours upon hours about AI and specifically AI "art". As an artist myself (who thankfully does not rely on art to make a living) I've been seeing the slow and then very very fast progress from "oh, midjourney et al are super cool pograms you can use as inspiration using your own material" to "the whole internet is its database and good luck to you if you have stuff posted anywhere at all". Aside from the art theft aspect where people genuinely think making an AI draw "in the style of" an artist, especially artists that are still alive and reliant on their art, is not a kind of art theft and even more, think just spending an hour with an AI to do such a picture is "art", we've always been aware from the very start how dangerous it can be. Even when midjourney and similar programs were in their infancy there were already big red flags: private data leaking out if you just looked up a specific person (medical data even), morphing pictures to a certain aesthetic that the AI had come to learn (learning towards childlike figures doing certain things you definitely wouldn't want to see) and a racial bias (whitewashing any ethnicity if asked to make a picture of them). I've never had a problem with AI in and of itself and I'd say a lot of artists agree that it could be even used as a fantastic tool to work on your own art - using it for composition ideas or color palates and such with your own material or material that has been given permission to be used as such by other artists. AI has tons of good applications in pretty much any field you put it into, but of course, people will be peopling and there's just no barrier to do all kinds of stuff with it because AI tools were never an opt in but an opt out system (that doesn't even really work if you opt out) and the few protections we have against it are very limited at best and ineffective at worst. As for doing this to celebrities and thinking it's ok: yes, celebrities put their image out there but they did not consent to be changed this way. Any picture you take from the internet and manipulate like that doesn't only feed the algorithm it also desensitizes you from thinking of them as a person and that the same can be done with anyone's likeness and have dire consequences. Even in the creative field AI has been a hot topic where not everyone is on the same page - authors and musicians have suffered due to AI, too, but somehow can't always empathize with artists who have been hit with the same issues. There's a reason why artists are so against this and I'm glad many of them have spoken out and are trying to take legal action and/or trying to fight for better legislation. As bad as it is, that this happened to Taylor Swift, hopefully her fame will help to make things possible that otherwise wouldn't have been. As you said though, legislation is not only slow to act, the people handling these things just do not understand what the dangers are or how any of it works. Anyway, I hope eventually there will be better laws, better awareness and more barriers so that people can't just pick up anything from the internet and sell it as something they "created" let alone do something as horrible as they've done within the context of this video.

Laws are created by politicians and enforced by law enforcement agencies. The former don't need to have 'technical expertise' in the field that the laws concern. They could get advice ... but they need to understand that advice. The latter can only enforce the 'letter' of the law and not their interpretation of it.

This happens to men too. What's the solution though? How do you enforce it across all countries when we can't even get countries to follow the Geneva convention? Say we stop a certain number of AI, how do we convince countries with differing moral values like say China who are weaponizing AI? Do we ask certain countries within the middle east really nicely to stop or threaten to embargo? I'm afraid we might have reached or will soon reach a point where any small company in a country with poor regulations can make AI like this and the skinner box is out. All we can do is make it less accessible but trying to completely stop it is like telling people they can't paint a celebrity without their permission. I was excited for AI once but like a knife that can help us prepare a meal, we find a way to take the fun out of it.
