Testing Evolution blades on R255SMS sliding mitre saw - are they any good? In this video I will be looking at three blades from Evolution - the standard multi-blade, wood dedicated blade and the diamond blade. I will be doing several tests on each blade to showcase their effectiveness and cut quality.

I've been using an Evolution 210 SMS for about a month. I've used the Multi use blade & the Stone cutter blade. Must say that I'm extremely happy with the Mitre saw & the performance of the Blades. The work I did was building a timber shed & re-laying about 10sq metres of block paving.

Hi and thanks:) the problem is that all Evolution saws have lower RPM about 3200 where any other wood blades ( not Evolution blades) are made for faster RPM. So in theory only Evolution blades should be used with Evolution saws. The Evolution wood dedicated blade is good, I use is my sliding mitre saw all the time and I'm very happy with the cuts it gives. But don't expect quality as good as the top of the range blades. Hope this helps.

I think it would be useful to test the first blade with wood again after cutting through the different metals. There's no doubt that the first blade can handle metal, especially if you hit something accidentally (maybe in reclaimed timber) but what's the cut on timber like after that? And didn't know it could cut tiles, that's useful and saves having two machines so thanks!
@CasualDIY

Hi I use the multiblade all the time on wood and metal. And there is no downgrade in cut quality. Only thing I can say, the blade will need changing sooner if you do cut through a lot of metal - but still quite reasonable time before it needs changing. Thanks👍

It's a shame that no one can make a blade that cuts through laminate flooring without getting blunt quickly, I recently went through 7 Bosch jigsaw blades and my newish Evolution blade on my circular saw when I fitted my modestly sized kitchen floor. Before that, I really rated the Evolution blade. It cut wood quickly, cleanly and accurately. Keep up the good work. You make me smile.

@rok1475 5 жыл бұрын
You get clean cut with almost any blade when it is NEW. You can even get at least one clean cut on steel with a new wood blade. You have to throw it away after, but one cut will be clean. The real indication of quality is how long it will last cutting steel (or brick/tile for diamond blade). Get one blade and keep cutting until you feel it becomes dull. Compare number of cuts between blades. That will be an indication of quality. If $30 all-purpose blade becomes dull after 20 cuts but $60 blade stays sharp after 100 cuts, then that is useful information. Wood is so much softer than carbide tips that almost any modern, inexpensive carbide-tipped blade will do the job, unless you need better than 0.1mm/0.050" precision. The main problem with cutting wood is resin sticking to the teeth but not many people bother to keep the blade clean. A dirty blade makes a lot of smoke and it feels like it is dull so people buy a new "better quality" blade. Good for blade making industry, but hardly an indication of blade quality. Note about Evolution saws - they spin slower than regular wood-cutting saws to keep the speed of the carbide cutter within tolerable range for cutting steel. Mounting the same steel-cutting blade on a saw designed for wood will dull the blade quickly. You see that when people complain in the reviews that the expensive steel-cutting blade they just bought and mounted on their regular saw lasted for just a few cuts. But while slower rotation is better for steel, it is not so good for wood and ceramic. The only solution is a variable-speed saw with constant rpm/torque circuitry for motor control. But those are rare (Bosch makes one model and only for Europe).

Due to the slow speed of this saw it's really meant for cutting metal, to get good results on timber it needs to get up to around 4000-6000 rpm, with the tear out shown on the timber it's unacceptable, the chipping of the tiles is also no good, a cheap manual cutter will do a better job.. That diamond blade won't last long cutting bricks
@CasualDIY
@CasualDIY 5 жыл бұрын
Yes the multi blade and this saw is not for professional carpenters, furniture and cabinet makers hence the price. That's why all the professionals are using Festool which will eventually pay itself off. But for DIYers and occasional builds I think this is a good saw at a good price :)
@zaneh6224
@zaneh6224 5 жыл бұрын
Yes agree, the multi blades are always going to be a compromise, I think with this saw they should have offered a dedicated metal cutting blade, then an option to increase the speed and put a timber blade on it, the metal cutting feature is what makes this saw an interesting machine.
@CasualDIY
@CasualDIY 5 жыл бұрын
@@zaneh6224 Yes exactly, that's the feature this machine needs. Then it wouldn't be too bad to pay bit extra. As you will have one good saw with good quality cuts in all materials not having to compromise. Obviously they got their own blades but if there was an option to increase rpms that would mean you can use any blades and just get one you like for wood best.

@@user-si1mj1gg9t yes I see your point, if you working mainly with steel then a dedicated saw for cutting steel would be much better choice

No reculvertowers is right it's not music it"s a repetitive dirge. I watched three of you videos which were ok but then had to unsubscribe because I can't bear the noise.

Sorry my speech offends you, unfortunately English is not my first language so it will be far from perfect but I can assure you I'm doing my best.

@@CasualDIY Whilst you may have another language, your English is obviously native. However, I didn't mention your grammatical usage, I mentioned your chav-speak, how your delivery comes across. If you want to be seen as having something useful to say, you'd be much better off dropping the buffoon act. If however, that is you, then you'll continue getting comments from the less than bright.

@@Tinker1950 hmm could you do me a favour then please? It's hard for me to see this, the way I speak. Could you check out my other videos and see if that's on all videos or just this one?
