I need to point out one big difference between the PG County Maryland cities and every place else. In PG County black people control the county government, including the police department. Big difference.

One of the side effects of Mitchelville in PG County is the absence of common cultural racism. Literally feels like breathing freely. We're majority AA but diverse culturally too, with good community cohesion. No overarching violent conflict with the police dept. We gotta bring our public schools back up to past performance but the HBCU scene is noteworthy for it's deep knowledge and networking base. Was going to college while still in high school, lol. All of our houses are prewired for 1000/mbps FiOS broadband [crucial wealth infrastructure]. Grew up here and stayed after experiencing other regions.

So you would recommend that area? I am looking to move back near there (lived in Catonsville MD), but I didn't get to look around other areas. What other surrounding places are great for young successful black women where the blacks actually control most things there? I'm in MS now. Came here 3 years ago to take care of my grandparents and now that they're well I'm going back somewhere. Here, when you visits wealthy stores you get a lot of side-eyes from the white community here. It's either that or they kind of let you know you're not welcome. I need to be around more young successful black people where I can go into a high-end store and not be watched.

Not one big city on the list, only bedroom communities. Incomes are lower in the South vs DC or LA.

It's weird to hear people from other places talk about Prince George's County in such an esteemed manner.... I'm from DC, so we just say PG County....PG County stretches far and wide....so depending on where you live, it is very affluent💯💕💯💕 Ft. Washington is nice, mixture of small and large single family homes.....Mitchellville is closer to Six Flags, big/nice houses....the closer you get to DC, the more "hood" PG County becomes though 😘😘

Agree. It’s interesting PG County is known as an affluent county for blacks but doesn’t have a top school system considering the high property taxes while county neighbors Montgomery and Howard school system are top 10. We lived in Charles County, daughter went to school (private) in PG County while working in PG County/DC line where for our safety were told to be careful at night.

I am from DC and I live in Montgomery county. PG is a shxt hole. High taxes and you get zip. Trigger happy police 👮‍♀️ force and plenty of welfare queens and HS drop outs.

It's interesting because I'm originally from Baltimore, and my wife is from Montgomery County - Germantown (which I'm surprised doesn't make this list). Growing up in Baltimore, PG County was always talked about in a negative way. When we hear PG County, we always knew it to be Six Flags, Largo area. Versus my wife always knew PG county to be Fort Washington/National Harbor area, the "rich" area. I guess its the same way people constantly dog out Baltimore, when in fact, it is an amazing, thriving city that we enjoy and love almost every weekend. Moral of the story, get multiple opinions preferably from people who live there. The locals will always give you the good, the bad, and the in between. :)

Few people realize that in addition to LA's wealthy black neighborhoods mentioned here (which are considered to be intown neighborhoods and not suburban unlike Maryland's black wealthy nabes which are outside DC or Baltimore), LA also has many black celebrities who live in some of LA's finest neighborhoods (Bel Air, Beverly Hills/Beverly Park, Brentwood, Calabasas, Hidden Hills). Celebrities such as Jay Z/Beyonce, Eddie Murphy, Denzel Washington, Tyler Perry, Kanye West, Katherine Jackson (Michael Jackson's mother) to name a few, live in palatial 10, 20, 30 thousand square foot estates on acres of land in these nabes. I don't think this kind of black wealth exists anywhere else in the nation except maybe the NYC or Atlanta metro. And add to this, Oprah Winfrey's 40 acre Promised Land Estate and the 2300 acre Jackson Family Neverland Ranch and the palatial estate of Meagan Markle and Prince Harry all in nearby Santa Barbara County. It adds up to quite impressive black wealth in Southern California.

All the people you listed are millionaire celebs..How many people will achieve that in life? Also, do those celebs control/contribute toward having a real say in local government affairs (as is the case in Maryland)? That kind of celeb life can be hot one minute and totally forgotten the next. The success found in Maryland is very attainable and sustainable due to the influence and consistency of the government. Not to mention that the National Capital Region is the most affluent in the US as a whole, so it’s more a case of a rising tide that lifts all boats. How about we just celebrate black achievements without the petty attempts to outshine

I’m trying to get out of PG & get some warm weather. it’s nice here but if you want to experience diversity, This ain’t the place. Other than the unpredictable cold weather. We have good food spots & connected to a great transit system. Oh & if you drive slow please stay in the slow lane 😊... blacks are definitely doing the damn thing here & for the most part the people are down to earth. We control & run almost everything in the county. Plenty to do and a lot of history here & in DC

How are the public schools in these neighborhoods rated (not private schools?) and how do those ratings compare with comparable near by neighborhoods that aren't majority black? Do parents in these neighborhoods avail themselves of the local public schools or do they opt for private schools? What are the crime rates in these neighborhoods and what kind of crimes are most prevalent? How do the crime rates compare with comparable nearby neighborhoods that aren't majority black? The houses are gorgeous and the income level is reassuring, but that is not all that makes up total quality of life.

@@ayitiana8548I was in North Carolina in the mountains like 4,000 ft or something and off-grid nearest spruce pine and still experience on the property I was in and at the local Walmart..., It was such a beautiful place and I ended up leaving it was sad
