My boyfriend was just diagnosed with Type 2 last Sunday. He was admitted to the hospital and was there for 5 days. Reminded me of all you T1Ds who were admitted at diagnosis. His bg was in the 600s last Sunday. I wish I was with him last week during the diagnosis. A few days before the diagnosis I offered to check his blood sugar but he shrugged it off.

I got the Moderna vaccine and after my first dose, I only had a sore arm for a few days. But a few hours after my second dose, all the symptoms basically hit me at once (fever, nausea, headache, and intense chills). I barely slept that night and felt awful the next day too. My blood sugars ran a bit high too, so I had to bolus a bit more than I usually would. I stayed in bed all day, drank tons of water, downed some Advil, and checked ketones constantly just in case. By the next day, I felt almost 100% okay (the only thing was a little bit of fatigue)!

For me, dose 1 (Pfizer) gave me a sore arm I could barely move for two days. Dose 2 made me feel icky the next day, but that was about it! I didn't notice any changes in my blood glucose. My wife had an allergic reaction to the first dose, but she was fine a few hours later. She took Benadryl for the second dose and had no issues at all.

Hello andrea! I've been a T1D since past 15yrs and I'm a medical physician as well...I experienced the same way you had problems pertaining to your 1st dose Im scheduled to have my 2nd dose later this month. Thanks for sharing ur experiences .One possible work around would be to have plenty of fluids and have electrolytes because all type 1's due to hyperglycemic episodes are prone to loosing more salts thus inturn leading to acute dehydration and hence fatigue and last but not least also back up paracetamol just as you said. Take care Godbless!

I'm a T2D on insulin, but also have a neuro-muscular disease called Charcot Marie Tooth ( CMT ). I received my Moderna vaccine dosages in March and April. The 1st dosage I had no problem with, but did increase my basal insulin dosage and had slightly raised numbers. The 2nd one was a different story, I had a very sore body for about 4 days and it totally raised my insulin resistance that lasted over 2 weeks. During that time I had to increase basal dosage, and change my carb ratio, but after about 3 weeks I was back to normal. The only other thing that happened was a sore arm for both dosages.

Great Vid! I had a miserable 48 hrs after my 1st AZ vaccine. Absolutely fine after my second. I didn't use pain relief after either. They also told me to keep well hydrated after my second to help the vaccine work better. My cynical side thought it might lower blood clot risks as well? T1 22 years!

Hi Andrea, So so pleased all went well with your second dose. We have been praying all would be OK. Good to see David again and that he is OK. You said to let you know about my endo appt, He seemed to think I was doing well, as HbA1c was 6.9, last time 6.5. He thinks I don't need a pump. Still getting to many highs for my liking, so have increased the long acting basil insulin again. Have been having lots of extra little humalog doses to counter highs. Which makes me think the problem is with the long acting insulin , now from 15units to 18, this may be the answer. As you would know the not knowing the reason why is difficult, (replaced Lantus with new batch, didn't make any difference) Anyway thankyou as always for your very encouraging video. ❤🙏

I think your idea about increasing the long acting insulin is a great one. I've done this in the past and it's helped greatly, but like you say it's all trial and error and then not knowing is the worst part! Sending you wishes to turn that not knowing into knowing and happy blood sugars all around!

Hello Angela, welcome to the fully vaccinated club! I had my second moderna shot 2 months ago already. Swiss government gave us priority access. First shot was ok, second one I was having 39 degrees fever and not feeling well enough to eat for 2 days. I took one paracetamol which helped. But be careful with paracetamol !!Paracetamol is the most common medicine taken in overdose, it can lead to liver poisoning and death if taken too many. Luckily, with an insulin pump (medtronic 780g) in my case, glucose levels stayed under control.

Thanks for this video! Some of us type 1s have concerns about how the vaccine may interact with our bodies & immune systems - as you know, our immune systems are notorious for targeting & destroying 'something' inside us, so there's a bit of trepidation with injecting ourselves with a new vaccine that may trigger our immune system to target something new (like a liver or spleen). Looking forward to seeing a 4- and 6-month update!

I'm so so sorry to hear of your boyfriends' recent diagnosis, Marina. I hope you both are doing all right and that he's feeling OK. But I'm sure this is a lot to come to grips with. In terms of links, I'm so sorry I don't really know anything exactly for Type 2's (other than all the usual googling items, that I'm sure you've already found because I know you're super resourceful and he's so lucky to have you by his side because of this!). I do know from various family members and friends that lifestyle can potentially play a big part in improving insulin sensitivity (even just regular walks), along with finding a diet that works well for health and is sustainable. This is all a very personal preference though. It's hard to say exactly what to do when everyone is so unique and the needs and type two's is so different to type one's though they both deal with dysregulation in the blood sugar, as you know. I'm sorry I can't be more helpful, but I don't want to give any advice on the condition I don't live with, if that makes sense. If you have any questions that I specifically can answer I will do my very best, but I hope the above all makes sense and is slightly helpful to you, it's just in a small way! I'm thinking of you both!💙🙏🏻

A university professor specialized in vaccins here in Belgium told in the media that with the AstraZenica vaccin those who have a stronger reaction (not everyone) mostly have that after the first dose, those who have Pfizer or Moderna mostly have it after the second dose. In fact it is a sign that your body is reacting on it and make the stuff that fight the virus. He told also that contradictionary to what is told mostly in the vacin centra also in Belgium that pre-emptive paracetamol make no sense at all and can reduce the working of the vacin. Better take it only when you have have fever only. Drinking a lot of water was wel something that was usefull. When I followed the vacincentra speed, I should got my first dose this week and that would be then also Astra-Zenica. But the hospital were I go for my diabetes treatment had an extra stock and decided to offer that to their diabetes patients. So I got Pfizer three weeks ago in the university hospital where they told also that pre-emptive paracetamol was not recomended. I got just a day or two a sore arm. Next week I have in the hospital my second dose and hope that this will also go as fine as before. I'm very happy that the hospital offer this weeks earlier to there diabetes patients. I win in this way a lot of time too!

This is so interesting. Thank you so much for sharing this information with me. I find it so interesting that I would be told about the preemptive paracetamol from my doctor here but that your doctor said it wouldn't recommend an infected couldn't even lessen the effects of the vaccine. Gosh it's just hard to know what the right thing to do is! Regardless I really really hope your second dose goes well and I thank you so much for sharing the above information. @@ShesDiabetic That is the difference between a home doctor or general doctor (not sure about the right word in English) and a specialist in vacin related stuff. They have a different experience and specialist knowledge. The last is spending his whole live with studying all that stuf. University hospitals mostly following also more the trends of those specialists. With the covid-19 crisis those epidemologic specialists and vacin specialists are so good as every day in the media giving public information. And surely not telling the stories poeple love to here in contradiction to politicians. And that is very clear at the moment because they receive a lot of treaths with death, and currently there is a soldier that treath them and have extreme idea's, disapeared with weapons from the army with the intention to do an attack to at least one of them. I love that they share so much scientific based information to the public so you understood why and what are the best choices based on scientific data.

I thought a low is considered under 70 so I’m surprised you considered your 72 was low. Also I’m unsure where the high boundary is. Is it 140 and above. Why is it you guys have different target ranges. How does that differ from the non-diabetic and then there is my Type 2 boyfriend I understand T1D because I’ve been watching four of you since I started watching The Dale Tribe in February 2018, now I’m trying to figure out T2D when all I have been following is T1D

And a high, would be somewhere around the 160 mark. That’s just me. Everyone’s different, as you know. I also think it depends on what you’re trying to achieve, for example, for me I’ve had a lot of lows in my time with Diabetes so I tend to try to aim higher in my numbers to compensate for that. I hope you and your boyfriend are doing OK given the recent news of his type two diabetic diagnosis. Sending you both lots of strength as you come to grips with all this. I of course am here for you in any way I possibly can be! 💙

Taking Potant Vitamins and Washing your hands, keep your hands from touching your mouth, Eating well Make sure A1C Testing is Healthy and most Important. Your Doctor should always consider and Prescribe your shot.......!!! Very important because an major Reaction can happen because of These type of shots, your doctor would be 100% in the ".KNOW". .......THANKS FOR ALL THE vIDEOS.........DANIEL

I remember Flintstones vitamins! What a throwback! Everything you've written above is such excellent advice and I completely agree. We all have to do what's right for us in conjunction with what our doctor thinks is best. Thank you so much for watching and supporting and I hope you're staying happy and healthy Daniel!

Been type 1 for 65 years and had the Pfizer , the only effects were sore arms from the shots. But been taking shots for 65 years , so no problem.
