I was _that_ person who saw this movie at age 5 and was legitimately traumatized by it. I woke up in the middle of the night and my dad was watching this, and because it was such a stupid horror movie he didn't think to take it off, and I wasn't scared by it at all, more confused. Then that Italian horror "fuck you" ending blindsides the viewer and I was terrified of being eaten in the shower, or waking up to find my entire family gone for years.

The mother always terrified me in this movie when I was wee. Her facial expressions/or lack there of, while she delivers her lines (with zero human characteristics) led me to believe that she was imagining what the head of whoever she was conversing with would like like on a stick. I actually showed this movie to my mom and she was taking it seriously! My brother and I would be laughing and she'd be like, "Shhh I'm trying to watch this." 😂

Hey Mark, from Ned in Spain. I love hilariously bad movies and this was a stellar example. Your breakdown and comments were great. One thing I saw in the film credits made me do a double take. The costume designer was the one and only Laura Gemser, a beautiful half Indonesian and Dutch model who was in a pile of Euro Trash movies including about 15 or 20 " Emmanuel" films and in lots of Men's magazines, mostly in Italy. It makes sense that she would be known to the producer and writer of this ep-ick. Take care and love your channel.

The dialogue is pretty much what Italian giallo films sound like, but in English. They needed an American writer to make it sound less insane and a dialogue/acting coach.This is what you get when the crew speaks one language and the cast speaks another and there is only basic translation.

So, the Italian director hated Vegetarian/Vegans - and made a horror movie that paints them as murderous, ironic 'goblins' - but the movie is called Troll 2 so it could piggyback off the original Troll movie? And then from pre-production to movie wrap, he just decided to make the greatest bad movie ever made?

This movies poster used to scare the hell out of me when we would go to the video rental store. Scared me to death.

Fun fact not only is there goblins in the movie not trolls they also refer to them as gnomes on the back of the box.

Him pausing time to pee on his families food is actually the most realistic depiction of a child's use of time-pausing in a story that i've ever seen. His character motivation made perfect sense. Usually when they throw that trope in the kid just turns people's shirts inside out or pulls people's pants down around their ankles etc. The scene kinda reminds me of "Click" with Adam Sandler but it makes even more sense since this character is an actual child. so...they kinda got one thing inside this train wreck to be mediocre instead of bad. It's not even consistently bad...it's like a Turducken of failure. Amazing.

There are plenty of just plain bad movies out there but something like Troll2 truly defines 'camp value': a show so bad that it is actually good.

I discovered this movie as a kid at a local video store. My friends and I would rent it repeatedly. Decades later, I get to introduce my kids to this epic movie.

When I was 8, I was at a sleepover. We rented this movie, and it actually scared us. It is such a surprise years later as an adult to see it was...well...

Troll 2 is the kind of movie that’s never not funny no matter how many times I see it or who I’m watching it with. It’s my favorite bad movie, hands down.

I don't know. For me, it is and will probably always be the "STAR WARS Holiday Special". Because not only can you watch the utter disbelief in the face of the person you're watching it with. If you chose your company wisely, you picked a good-hearted Star Wars fan. And then you can see not only shock, but true, deeply felt pain as well. So beautiful.

I think "YOU CANT PISS ON HOSPITALITY! I WONT ALLOW IT!" has became my new favourite line of any movie ever. Along with "are you still smoking pot Holly?"

Right around the time TROLL 2 came out, Claudio Fragasso turned his career around and was nominated for a bunch of Italian Oscars just a few years later. Guess the movie about the vegetarian goblins was a wake up call for him and his career.
