Few random projects from last week. Last chance to finish a yard work before the cold weather arrives, getting on the Chateau roof, winterizing the front door and my first attempt on refinishing a desk. Initially I planned on keeping it a natural finish, however there are some ink stains that even sanding did not make them go away, so now I am thinking of getting a darker wood stain, which would actually go with the rest of the bedrooms furniture.

😮please don't replace the chateau doors. They ate braitiful! O like the idea of painting them blue (plus blue shutters). Also when filling in the sides of the doors, you should use a lime rendering . Cement will crack. Good luck!♥️♥️♥️♥️😘

Chateau doors are staying for sure! They need some TLC but they should last another 50 years or more

You're moving quickly on the outside. There are photo programs you might want to try to test out colors in the future. You can upload a pic of your doors and then change the color to your favorite shade of blue. Thanks for the update!

Great progress! Now you really enjoy thev benefit if all your hard work. It was already said about using lime mortar instead of cement but kust wanted to emphasize how bad cement is for these kinds of repairs on the walls.

Lime mortar is on my list! Good thing I did very little fixings.

About refinishing the table...I wouldn't worry about the stains. They will make the table look more antique. You could try hand sanding them but I have refinished lots of furniture and realized they don't have to be perfect to look good. You will probably have items laying on the table and they will be covered anyway.♥️♥️♥️♥️😘

I see your point. It makes a lot of sense.

Try using ordinary bleach across the whole table top. Then after cleaning and drying sand with fine grit paper.

Not cement it’ll trap water and crack and be a mess to remove. Use lime or a foam backer tubing and caulk for outdoor sealing.

Oxalic acid would get those stains out of the wood. I would try that first.

Those are just water stains, not ink. Those front doors are magnificent. Hope you don’t replace them.

@@countrylivinginfrenchchate2676 So glad to hear this. There are other French Château channels on KZfaq and it saddens me to watch others remove beautiful details. Wishing you all the best.
