I was watching as they premiered. Channel 101 was really awesome. I was so bummed when they received the cease and desist letter. There were a bunch of funny shows on 101.

CJ the X mentioned this in their Rick and Morty video, but that was my only exposure to it whatsoever before this. They used it as an example of Roiland's tendency to do rather than think, and how even if you churn out something as awful as this, you've still made something, and hopefully you've learned something you can take with you to do better things. It was very cool to learn more about it in your video, and I really appreciate the fundraiser choice so I wanted to leave a long comment to maybe help the algorithm put it in front of more people.

From what I remember of another video I watched recently talkin about Rick and Morty’s early history as Doc and Mharti, the guy who did that video said Roiland and Harmon were actually in talks with Comedy Central on makin the web series an actual show on their channel lineup before they got the cease and desist letter from Cosby’s team. It really makes you think, if House of Cosbys was green lit to become a mainstream tv show, would Rick and Morty’ve never come into existence?

i heard about it a long time ago from cartoon reviewer Rebeltaxi. Ill be honest i still have never watched any of the channel 101 animations Justin has produced, but im very fond of the live action content hes made for it.

I just remembered House of Cosbys today for some reason and thought I would check if anyone posted it somewhere because after the whole cease and desist thing happened it kind of dropped off the face of the internet and I forgot it for years. As I remembered it today I told a guy at work today about it and he happens to be a fan of Rick and Morty as I am, I had no idea this was the same guy till this video, now I have to tell him he needs to watch House of Cosbys for sure because 1. its back on the internet and 2. the whole Rick and Morty connection. Oh now I remember, I was telling him about Fensler Films G.I. Joe PSA's which reminded me of House of Cosbys because they were out somewhat around the same time and he needs to watch them.

I used to watch Channel 101 when a friend told me about HOC. The clips would take forever to load but we're worth it. Can you review some more Channel 101 shows? Some of them were real gems of weirdness.

wait...why do i fugging remember this house of cosbys thing kinda? lmao. see back in the early 2000's i was online, i was like 11 at the time and i remember newgrounds and i just remember watching a lot of weird vids on repeat. one of my favs was "beebo, the cat that which has facial hair" and i think this cosby thing was on there? maybe? if not there were similar things on there thats for sure. i think beebo came out around 2003-2005. god i miss those days. i miss those dress up games and weird shorts people made. no one got paid for doing it either. not that i remember anyways. just people making flash videos for the lulz.

There's nothing wrong with a little cognitive dissonance. I can enjoy the art without agreeing with the actions of the artist. In this case, it's not even the work of the caricature portrayed, but the artist of the controversial media in question. Either way, I still like the professional works of both Bill and Dan, much in the same way many people enjoy the song Thriller around Halloween without giving Micheal a single thought.

Why can't you say "rape", "molestation", or "drugged"?

Yeeaahhh the old racism (not saying it's the same as intentionally malicious racism to be clear) is awkward/off, it being mostly "saved" for a fem black character kinda makes it suck extra and reeks of Shane Dawson style humor. Glad it didn't make up the bulk of his work though. Cool that he went from the shorts to landing other work, glad the cease and desist didn't derail things too hard too.
