The Cygnus Enigma examines the link between the archaeological treasurehouse that is Newgrange, the myths which relate to that eminent place, and other interesting factors which together form a fascinating ancient mystery. It is revealed for the first time how the various elements of the Cygnus story formed an astronomical masterplan in ancient times, and how, quite possibly, the Stone Age people were able to see the precession of the equinoxes.
In our investigation, we examined the relationship between the astronomical constructs of Newgrange and Fourknocks, the Whooper Swan which winters at Newgrange, the constellation Cygnus and the numerous myths and stories about Newgrange which relate to swans.
The Cygnus Enigma is fully documented in our book, Island of the Setting Sun - In Search of Ireland's Ancient Astronomers

very interesting, truly an enigma, and such a hidden treasure of this ancient island. there is definitely something more to these sacred sites than meets the eye, im a very logical person but when i visit these sites i can feel a type of energy , a force, the old Irish word for it is "Neart" but it is there in four knocks, Newgrange, Nowth and Dowth, there is something very deep and very profound at these sites, it baffles the mind as to what exactly took place over 5000 years ago for these mysterious people to create such an amazing complex , in my humble opinion these people were not mere farmers, there is something more to it all than just burial mounds and it was in my opinion totally connected to the heavens and the stars like this great documentary describes!

I didn't know that neolithic culture in Ireland was so sophisticated. I'm awe struck.

I was lucky enough to be able to visit New Grange a few years ago (had wanted to visit for over 20 years).. loved the visitors centre as well and obviously glad that the history is being valued and protected. I watched a program 'Wild China' recently BBC4 and on one of the northern islands where the Whooper (pronounced 'hooper') Swans over wintered.. there they were called 'Winter Angels'.. to allude white birds to the soul and spirit is a fairly human universal theme .. from ancient times to modern (Jonathan Livingston Seagull by Richard Bach)... And I think that we are naturally hardwired to process information in analogous forms because we are not just corporeal beings but also spiritual ones, who when we connect to spirit find a certain sense of peace and relief from this world in the knowledge that all is illusion and rebirth follows death just as day follows night.

Yes indeed. If you're interested in reading more, the Cygnus Enigma and many other astronomical theories are explored in the book Island of the Setting Sun - In Search of Ireland's Ancient Astronomers.

We are located in Saxony in the south-eastern of Germany. There we discovered a phenomenon caused by sunlight at several stones. We assume a relation between menhir, dolmen and stone circle. It is also possible to watch a film on youtube: Die steinerne Himmelsscheibe

Could the one eyed face (at Fourknocks) be Cailleach?

Yeah - Good video but have to say with all due respect it was the Honourable Red Hair Tribe - Called the Tuatha Dé Danann (who were real people!) who built these places not some random non-specific 'Neolithic Farmers'.
