The Dalek Emperor Returns | Restoration of the Daleks | Big Finish | Doctor Who: Time War 4

The voice actor for the Daleks in the New Series, Nicholas Briggs, also voices the Daleks in the Big Finish audios. The voice for the Dalek Emperor used in this audio is a subtle variation of the voice used for Bad Wolf / The Parting of the Ways in Series 1, with some of the speech patterns of the Dalek Emperor from The Evil of the Daleks.

Jesus, hearing a dalek laugh whilst its own biology struggles to cope with the emotions is terrifying.

There's something so raw and badass yet so refined and almighty about how the Dalek Emperor speaks Even through the speakers, he sounds so unstoppable and powerful. We NEED an Emperor variant back in the show

So this is how the doctor got familiar with Dalek laughter. I suppose caan was a cackling mess as well but it honestly sounds painful for them to do. Seems they’re still able to be amused.

I’ve not been able to buy any Big Finish stories, but hearing the Dalek Time Strategist laugh makes buying this story a *MUST*

"You would suffer the Daleks to live knowing our nature, conquest and extermination!" This line fascinates me because it's the only time we've seen a 100% pure, completely unaltered Dalek display even the slightest hint of self-awareness. It sounds almost as if he actually GETS it, how illogical and ridiculous their own existence is yet he still doesn't try to change because he knows it's an utterly pointless endeavor.

@@gunmasterx1164No..? the first Dalek in this excerpt is the Dalek Time Strategist, a character exclusive to big finish. The deeper voice is the Dalek Emperor from Parting of the Ways.

@@matthewpastrikos7383 The Time Strategist’s voice had gradually changed across the Time War audios. Nowadays, to me at least, it sounds much closer to the Dalek Time Controller than it did in, say, The War Doctor: Agents of Chaos and The War Doctor: Casualties of War.

@@matthewpastrikos7383 The Dalek Time Controller was modelled after the silver 60s Daleks and was very much a wildcard, more loyal to himself than to the Dalek Empire. The Dalek Time Strategist was modelled after the new series RTD Supreme Dalek, and was much more loyal to the Emperor and the Dalek Empire.
