Friday on my mind. When I was a young girl I would tune my transitor into the Pirate radio channels Radio Luxemburg & Radio Caroline and I would walk in the woods singing at the top of my voice to mainly the Easybeats Friday on my mind. I would take my transitor radio with me until it died but I worked out a way to use a fork to make it receive and would stand in my bedroom working the damn thing around until I got a channel.

Harry Vanda and George Young were so important to Australian music in the 60's 70's and 80's. Their work for the Albert record label in production and song writing with so many groups was amazing.

I'll be curious to see you react to another Australian band, Master Apprentices, It's because I love you. This is a great song with a great message. 1970s was pretty cool for Australian music. Yep, that was George you pointed out. Love his technique. And that's Harry Vanda the lead guitar (tall and blond) next to him. The other guitarist is Dick Diamonde (the silent one), Snowy Fleet on drums and of course Stevie zooming around the stage like a madman. Brilliant. But there are plenty more songs on KZfaq - "I'll Make You Happy", "Women", "Too Much" "She's So Fine", "Come and See Her" (with Dick singing, for heaven's sake!) "Very Special Man" with George singing lead, "Wedding Ring" and a couple of their post "Friday" songs - "Heaven and Hell" (banned by the BBC) and "Hello, How are You" which the EasyBeats didn't like but I loved.

Yep that was George, Harry on lead guitar next to him. Little Stevie on vocals. I saw them in the late 80s on their reunion tour (which I believe was a way to get some money into the pockets of Stevie, Dick Diamonde (bass) and Snowy Fleet (drums) Vanda & Young being more comfortable financially)

Rollen most of these early Easybeats songs were written by Stevie Wright and George Young…. For my Woman, She’s So Fine, Wedding Ring ….before The Change to Vanda and Young and Friday on my Mind etc…. Yes George Young is on Guitar at the Front ( Stage left)… next to Harry Vanda….. 👍🇦🇺.

Easybeats where defo ahead of their time..sure it sounds dated.. but them riffs and beats are sooo good. george young knew how to make sik riffs..and stevie wright is timeless.... "Friday on my mind" is sweet... try "Shes so fine"

There's a compilation album by AC/DC called Backtracks. There's a song on the album called Carry me home. It's an amusing song about a night at the pub! If you dare, react to this one. I hope you don't cop any flack. You could also just listen to it, or the whole thing. But George Young & Harry Vanda are the best producers in rock & roll. Without them & Malcolm, Accadacca wouldn't exist. Love your work mate! Interesting fact, George Young played all the bass for AC/DC'S first album High Voltage! Electricity personified!
