It's a bit poetic that Rhaenys claimed her aunt Alyssa's dragon. Who was the mother of Daemon. While Daemon claimed his uncle Aemon's dragon. The father of Rhaenys.

For the first part of your comment you cant hatch an egg that isnt there none of those thirteen kids werent given an egg For the second part although one cant technichally steal a dragon there is a big difference between aemond and every other dragon rider we know of in the books aemond creeps out in the night without telling anyone about his plans the others claim their dragons with the knowledge of their elders either through recieving an egg by them or by noticing them that they want to claim one and go to dragon pit or dragon mount not doing that and trying to just go up and claim one is considered stealing for example when saera targaryen daughter of the old king creeped in dragonpit and tried to claim a dragon in order to runaway(which she was caught befor she could act on it) they said she attempted stealing a dragon and not "practicing her right as a targaryen to claim a dragon which choose who ride them"

None of Alicents kids got a dragonegg, they all claimed their dragons. And while you can't steal a dragon, claiming a dragon on the riders funeral is tactless and should not be done.

I hate this because it is so clearly a Fire and Blood retcon intended to muddy the waters on figuring out how Dragon Riding and Dragon Hatching work. The X Chromosome Telepathy Theory (where 1 Dragon X allows you to be a Rider and 2 a Hatcher) works perfectly if Rhaenys Hatched Meleys since she could then Hatch at a minimum Laenor’s Seasmoke and most likely Tessarion from Laena’s Cradle Egg as well even though she rode Vhagar. However if Alyssa rose Meleys beforehand than it muddies up not only who Hatched Meleys (since it wouldn’t be Alyssa because then she could have Hatched Eggs for Viserys and Daemon as well which she would if she could have) but makes Laenor and Seasmoke, as well as where Tessarion comes from into MASSIVE PLOT HOLES!!! This is nothing more than GRRM getting pissed that someone figured out his System and changing it out of spite…
