Bathurst is unarguably the best race ever. I'm not a big race fan but for 1 weekend in October, i don't leave the TV. You need to have a look at " Peter Brock - King of the Mountain". R.I.P. Brockie

This was the first Australian Supercars race I ever saw. It was absolute insanity. I can never forget that ending.

Thank you for reacting to this and for the shoutout! The Bathurst 1000 always throws up something entertaining. In a more recent one (I think 2021?), they sent the safety car out because there was an echidna on the track 😂 but the 2014 race really was something special. For Mozzie, the kid that started last and hadn’t led the field for any of the race to then take it all in the closing moments of the final lap had me leaping off the couch, spilling my beer and cheering like I was right there trackside. Hello from Canada ! Have been watching the series since 06 ! For my 16 years of karting the last thing I watch was the 07 race intro ! Scored over 100 podiums ! Inspiration from afar The second place car his dad won the race 4 times when was a shorter race and his dad Canadian ! Craig Lowndes a legend for sure ! When ran my 1st kart I ran number 888 and sent him a picture and got a response from him 😁🤯😳🏁 There series overall a easy top 5 for me !! When SVG ran the NASCAR street race I knew he was gonna win it !!

It's 1000kms, so around 6-8 hours, go hard but keep your focus! Bathurst is a really beautiful countryside city with a University and great facilities, not depressing, it's very historically interesting! 🤨 Incredibly grueling race physically and mentally, this is up and down around a mountain, these guys are so strong, passionate and determined! 🤣👍

Motor racing in Australia is controlled by CAMS(Confederation of Australian Motor Sports), and the Super Car Series is arguably the most premier motor sport in the world; even though it only operates in Australia, they have on accasion had races in New Zealand and Singapore.

The only thing this race didn't have was rain come through have way through the race. When there's rain there's always action with a wet track.

Remember watching this race vividly, I wanted Mark 'Frosty' Winterbottom to win but the young bloke came from no where to win it.

Paul was sponsored by big kev and when he passed away, Paul needed a drive. His dad is Terry Morris, a very well known gold coast identity with a Vinyard where huge concerts are played. Sirromet wines is ....T. E. Morris....backwards. gettit. He bought the best chance his son could have to win Bathurst. He was right but the kevettes are pissed at him. The blond in particular. She's my bestie and I'm a gold coast local.

When the race was only 500 miles drivers were allowed to race solo.....Moffat chose to race solo in the last 500 race and won it...... but after about 6 1/2 hours of racing, most of the skin from his hands had become attached to his gloves, and remained there. OUCH !!! The next year it became a 1,000 klm race and solo drives were no longer allowed. 1000 klm = 621 miles

Endurance races are the best but they usually have races of around 90 minutes as normal race weekends of 3 races. But the Sandown 500 and Bathurst 1000 are the two traditional Endurance races with co drivers. The championship usually has around 32 to 36 races. The codrivers are under a heap of pressure to keep speed up, hand over a good clean car without losing places , sometimes they're driving against the guys that drive the series all year. They usually run in other series for their own season but this is the big day. Some teams bring in guys from overseas that are Endurance specialists but it's usually recent retired guys or guys that are top line in other categories here. The gen3 cars have started this year so it'll be interesting to see if reliability is affected due to an almost totally new generation of cars. They are Chevrolet Camaro and Ford Mustang. The race is usually about 6 hours. There are usually two drivers per car, sometimes three. Each driver has an allotted time and they cannot go over it.

Each car in the race has two drivers, who changeover during a pit stop. The race consists of driving around a circuit 161 times for distance of 1,000km. The shortest race time was 6 hours 1 minute 44.8637 seconds(2021), while the longest race time was 7 hours 58 minutes 53.2052seconds(2014). There have been 16 competitors died during racing a Mount Panorama, Bathurst between 1949 and 2006. The current official lap record is held by Chrisopher Mies in 2018 at 1 minute 59.2910 seconds. Each car is valued at around $600,000 including engine, and each team has generally two cars per driver(s).

When I was little Bathurst used to take over 12 hours, it's not a time based race but a distance based race, so it's gotten shorter as cars get faster and more fuel efficient, used to be a lot more pit stops. It also used to be a more open race so you used to have teams running all sorts of cars, some would run ultra fuel efficient engines to try and win by not needing as many pit stops (if you need 2 less pit stops but have a lower top speed you still could win was the idea), it was better back then when there were different types of cars and strategies. Also remember 1000 Km of driving flat out is pretty hard on cars and in the old days there were a lot more mechanical failures, less so now but still not uncommon, it's always been classed as an endurance race.

This race literally has you on the edge of your seat at times. Especially when it close at the end just like this one. You can hear people actually yell at their TVs when it like this. Am huge a Holden fan and when Whincup was pass on the last lap it’s was a huge blow to Holden .. but this is what race is all about, you never pass up a pit stop to fuel up because this race come down to how you have in the tank to finish it.. 🧐😊🇦🇺

Used to be cars you could buy, 4door family cars with grunt. then looked like cars you could buy and the ones you could but still had enough grunt. Now I am keeping my Commodore and it has grunt but is getting old and needs work but is a keeper.

G'day DNeal, I'm not a particularly sporty kinda chick but I've always been a bit of a revhead leadfoot (I love the smell of high octane in the morning) and Bathurst will always have a place in my heart. Back in the day, when it was held over the Labour Day Long Weekend (in October), we went up for the race, my bloke, his brother, his brother's girlfriend and me,,, they got engaged, we ended up up the duff...our son was born June '83. It was the first and last time I ever went,,,,2 inches of foam between me and the rough stoney ground is not my idea of comfort, ta very much 🥴 but it got ticked off the bucket list... 🙃🐨🇦🇺

No real shock about the 8 hour race. During 2002 and 2003 they had the Bathurst Endurance 24 hour race. That was insane. And at 100kph (60mph) if you hit a kangaroo it will do massive damage and write off cars and could easily kill the passengers. But to hit a kangaroo at 200kph to 300kph (120mph to 180mph), that would be horrendous damage.

na g, the 1 driver usually starts the race then at least 1 swap usually 2 or more and finish with whichever driver is either in the car, done the required laps per driver who whoever can actually finish without collapsing. it's insane .
