While every other team is either thriving or regressing, Buffalo is the one team that continues to be the premier lolcow of the league, and every time they cut a part of their team that doesn't work, their mechanical replacement only malfunctions.

You got it spot on with not making playoff predictions. I think the NHL in general (bar a few times like buffalo and the coyotes) is just too competitive to make an accurate prediction.

Pittsburgh has been arguably the best team in the conference since the new year.. them or Boston, but I'd give it to Pittsburgh because they beat Boston the last time the two teams played. Point production from the three-headed monster is through the roof while Kucherov and Stammer aren't even a point per game during that stretch. Not saying Tampa isn't still the better team, but there's something to be said about getting hot down the stretch. Remember, Washington looked like a world-beater going into the playoffs in 2016 because of their overall record, but the Penguins got hot in the second half and were the best team because of that.

I am a die-hard buffalo sports fan but when you rip them for their mediocrity I end up laughing the hardest because you put it perfectly every time. We can only pray for a good team nowadays

I’m optimistic about my Bruins. We have a nice young core with a good mix of veterans. The Bergeron line has played as advertised all season, DeBrusk, Bjork, McAvoy, Grzelyck, Acciari, Kuraly, Heinen, Pasta, and Carlo make up the nice group of young guys. Marchand, Bergeron, Chara, McQuaid, Krejci, Backes, and Krug have been the veterans we need this season. Rask and Doby have been the best goalie tandem in the league this year with Rask returning to Vezina candidate form after a slow start to the season. Now if only we could learn to develop goalies down in Providence

Hey Tree great vid but as a Leafs fan I was not expecting us to be a top team this year. I was hoping for a competitive team which we've got. I had hoped we'd be battling for 2nd in our division, which we are (though with Boston's stupid run of late who knows how that turns out). Realistically I still think we are 1-2 years away from being that top team. Need at least 2 more legit D-men for that to happen. Tampa was always going to run away with our division so long as they were healthy. Will be a great rest of season and hope you keep making these vids they're amazing.

Agree on the bearishness with the Pens, but also the fact that they seem to have found their footing (though we shall see how well it holds together). Then again, this is the time of year where they sort of start to come together (that's even in non-Cup years), so I'm not panicking, yet. What's throwing me off is the scheduling. There's a two game gap between the Pens and Caps. The epic smackdowns at the hands of the Blackhawks and Lightning in October really threw this team for a loop, but within the last week, they finally pulled the GD into the positive territory for the first time since October. Shootouts like the one on Friday night against the Caps help. If Rutherford can pull in a couple of assets that help to keep the upward momentum going, I can see the Pens potentially making it all the way to the ECF again (after getting burned by the Isles in '93, I'm tentative to say that they can make the Final, let alone three-peat). It's a medium shot, but the way the Pens have been slowly righting the ship, I can't exactly count them out just yet.

A year under Bruce Cassidy later and we see exactly what Sweeney was doing. They just needed a head coach that could grow the young guys they got. I respect the hell out of Julien, especially for bringing the cup back to Boston, but his system didn’t fit the way the league was heading. Cassidy brought in a system that allows the Bruins to retain their hard hitting style but still play the speed based game that the league has turned into. The defensemen are a lot more aggressive than last year, yet they still are able to drop back and defend. The current system also is probably extending Tuukka Rask’s career as the bruins are allowing the second fewest shots per game, reducing the workload on Tuuks. I think the whole reason Sweeney wasn’t spending cash like a madman this past offseason was because he knew the talent that the Bruins had. The offense has been better with production being spread out along all four lines rather than the Bergy, Marchand, Pasta line (the BPM line is still producing insane numbers though).
