I have a garden I eat a lot of food from it, I have eating rice, beans, tomatoes so many different vegetables, make my own bread, a whole my life, grew up in a farm, we ate the fruits seasonal, we would eat meat too. I am almost 70 zero problems with my health. One thing my mother use to teach us was moderation when you eat, I still remember, no matter how healthy it’s the food, too much, it’s not good for you. My grandma was to eat like us, she lived to be 113 years old. I think our bodies need a variety, because one kind of food do not cover every necessity in your body. But what it’s good for someone, doesn’t have to be for someone else. Moderation I pretty sure is good for everyone.

My bread I make every other day is; 1 cup of milk, 1 tablespoon of sugar, 1 teaspoon of salt, 2 tablespoon of butter and 2 hip bread flour. I of those pocket of yeast. I put all of that in my machine and 2 h 45 minutes my bread is done. I do not buy bread because is so expensive. Your family would love it. Hopefully you enjoy fresh bread. Just wanted to add that Healthline talk about different kinds of flours where you can substitute one cup or a half a cup teff, amaranth, with nutrients good for your brain, bone and DNA, Sorghum, with nutrients that may help reduce inflammation and balanced blood sugar, Buckwheat is rich in fiber and antioxidants. There are so many varieties of flour you can substitute at least half a cup of the regular bread flour. I do that many times.

Moderation is Key Too much of anything is bad Problem is, many of us are addicts who struggle with "just enough".
@MrQuadcity
@MrQuadcity 6 ай бұрын
The key takeaways are: 1. **Misleading Health Foods**: Commonly perceived healthy options like diet sodas, fruit juices, flavored coffees, and ultra-processed plant-based foods may not be as beneficial as marketed due to artificial sweeteners, excess sugars, and processing methods that can damage gut health and metabolism. 2. **Bread and Wine Considerations**: The health impact of bread depends on the quality of the grain, the type of flour (whole grain vs. ultra-processed), and the bread-making process, with sourdough bread being highlighted for its probiotic benefits. 3. **Importance of Quantity**: The amount of food consumed can significantly affect one's health, with moderation being key. Tools like CGM devices can help individuals understand the impact of food on their blood sugar levels. 4. **Personalized Diet**: A one-size-fits-all approach to diet does not work. Mindful eating, which includes making informed choices about food based on personal preferences and cultural background, is essential for a sustainable and healthy diet. 5. **Gut Health as a Metabolic Indicator**: A healthy gut microbiome is crucial for efficient metabolism. Disruptions caused by artificial sweeteners, antibiotics, and ultra-processed foods can lead to metabolic issues and weight gain. 6. **Mindful Shopping**: Reading ingredient labels and understanding the contents of food products is crucial to avoid ingredients that could harm gut health and overall metabolism. 7. **Joy in Eating**: Aligning eating habits with personal joy and cultural practices is as important as the nutritional value of the food. Enjoyment of food should be a part of a healthy diet. 8. **Technology for Personal Insights**: Utilizing technology like CGM devices or breathalyzers for metabolic assessment can provide personal insights into how different foods affect individual health.

People can’t go easy on amounts. Because these foods cause cravings. That’s what they do. It raises your insulin and when it drops you get the signal from your brain that you need more. And so starts the cycle. Also, we’re talking about addiction here. people are addicted to carbohydrates. It doesn’t matter what the amount is or where it comes from. It makes you want more and more and more and that’s the problem. It’s like asking an alcoholic just have one drink and then you’ll be fine you won’t have another drink till tomorrow or the next day or next week. No, he wants another drink as soon as that one’s done.

@@taylorhillard4868 Came here for at least some non-sycophantic take on the issue instead of blind praise for some doc nobody in these comments apparently understands. I may concede that your gut biome might experience changes (as he began to explain in the last chapter), but sweeteners being super impactful (if at all pronounced) one way or another is still turbo conjecture that should make anyone with half a toe dangling in the subject matter frown - because it's pure, unadulterated nonsense. Gut health - ok, but what's super egregious is the old fairy tale about a measurable insulin response when those half-hearted studies have been sufficiently debunked over and over again. Thus far, there is no link between those and any expert would and should recommend diet sodas over the alternative; markedly competent people like Mike Israetel have good overviews explaining the most important nuances. It's absolutely bonkers nonsense to claim that some people keep the weight upon switching to diet sodas. Absolute trash that statement is, people making the switch ubiquitously drop pounds, you need to skirt an already unfathomably small margin for a 500+ calorie habit to not express itself properly upon the dietary change, a margin not even the lightest people achieve unless you somehow drink 70 ml tiny coke cans or something silly. "no thanks, keep him" is absolutely correct. No doctor in this world has perfect knowledge, but not knowing something as basic as this and still speaking with any sort of authority about it only tells me that you're bs'ing your audience. Most artificial sweeteners are virtually harmless, and even gut health is far from being proven to suffer adverse effects from drinking any of it. Seriously, stop it.

Just because you can’t read or pronounce ingredients on a label, does NOT mean it is bad for you. I hope this isn't gonna come of as rude or mean. It's not meant that way, but... This is just inaccurate. Imagine you have a closed box you can't see or smell anything through and it contains an apple, banana, orange, and mango. Instead of just writing that on the package they list to compounds the fruits are made up off as the ingredients. You could most likely not read most of those compounds and would assume it's not good for you. But the box contains four fruits. this also is way too simplistic because it implies that a chemist can eats things because they know what the ingredient is or pronounce the word and it would be healthy for them, but not you. Heck, I'm not a chemist by a long shot, but I can pronounce quite a few complex words and have a decent idea what it is. Just because I can say it doesn't make it healthy for me and not for you and just because you can't say it makes it inherently unhealthy. methylcobalamine and cyanocobalamine are forms of vitamin B12 ascorbic acid is vitamin C colecalcipherol is vitamin D tocopherol is vitamin E Be careful with blanket statements and views like this. Chemical names tend to be complex, but that doesn't make it unhealthy. This always reminds me of that meme type situattion where people go onto the streat asking others if they'd consume dihyrogenoxide (which is water) and the people say no "because it's a chemical and not good for you). Would be true for dihydrogendioxide though (bleach for your hair).

I like your discussion about bread, especially when you mentioned sourdough. I would like to mention the milling of wheat into flour. Modern milling is done with steel rollers and produces a fine-grained flour. Then the bran and husk parts are separated leaving just the starchy endosperm. This makes flour that can be store for a long time. Originally stone -ground milling was a local operation. The flour was quickly used by local bakeries. Newly milled flour is very nutritious for a short time. You cannot build a pyramid while eating white bread. that w

I think humans have a tendency for the extreme. Don’t touch, don’t eat, eat this, don’t eat that. It does become burdensome. I know it did for me. Perhaps it’s best to just exercise moderation, and enjoy what God has provided for us, and for our enjoyment. I have though seen the need to eliminate the obvious offenders; sugar, processed foods. Having done this has helped me shed 40 pounds of weight, and stabilized my really high blood pressure. I guess it boils down to common sense.

People don’t have common sense they have addiction, they have cravings. Just the physiology of eating carbohydrates causes a disruption in your signals of fullness and hunger. And hunger is usually a false signal. Went insulin is raised and then drops The body thinks that it needs more. The brain tells the pancreas to release insulin. It’s a vicious cycle. People have no idea what it’s like to detox and wean off of carbohydrates. Once you do you eat simple, whole foods, especially protein and you don’t have a signal issue.

Dr Ben Bickman who specialises in the metabolism and fat, spoke of alullose negating the fructose in fruits and fruit drinks which causes spikes in insulin levels, and which can lead to insulin resistance over time. Insulin is what causes our fat cells to hang onto fat. Lowering insulin spikes after eating bad carbs and fructose leads to weight loss. Exercising after eating also reduces insulin spikes. I’ve also read that we can increase the resistant starch in foods like potatoes, pasta, rice etc, by cooking then chilling or freezing, then reheating and eating. Our bodies can’t digest resistant starches but our good gut bacterias thrive on them.

Please be careful of doing keto longer than a few months - especially if you are a post menopausal women. An animal keto diet will end up with your cholesterol slowly going up dangerously after a year or two, and you will be missing out on enough fibre. Please, please, be careful - the initial great results of getting off of the processed sugars and other rubbish, become superseded by the problems of filling up on animals fats and proteins and not getting enough plant nutrients and particularly fibre.

That sounds fine to me. I don’t think milk is good for us adult humans, but i believe the bacteria in the kefir at least helps with the lactose and perhaps digesting it. Some may argue goat milk kefir is better, but whatever, seems all the same to me, since it’s derived from an animal. I would say this is 100% better than having coco puffs everyday, no. Also smoothies are fine because it has the fiber still. But I’m no healthcare pro, so…. Best 🌱

Whole grapes, whole grains, that are fermented before being made into wine and bread, or as being made into wine and bread. Don’t eat bread that isn’t naturally fermented and made from whole-grain. At least if you want to be eating real food the way it was made and helped mankind developed for thousands of years.

We're also told we should swap meat for a plant based / vegetarian meal at least once a week 🤦‍♀️ Why are we being told we need to have these things , that they are better for us, and yet it's just the opposite you say , as we also get charged money if we disagree and want the full fat version of these drinks, so therefore our choice is made for us. 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️

Don’t think we are a society of weight loss. I think we have progressed onto health. We are Society that is trying to get healthy. Weight loss is secondary. It comes naturally after we quit eating all the garbage. I shop the periphery of the store I do not go down, isles ever, I think people have gotten smart, especially as older generations who went through that no fat but full of sugar and grains. The cookies we could eat because they were fat free the candy we could eat because they were fat free. It didn’t work we are fatter and sicker because of it. They told us no salt. It causes hypertension which it does not. Our bodies need that our bodies need salt. They lied to us. When you restrict or remove certain foods from your diet, you want them even more. It is a mind game you do have to be mindful. But you also have to realize the effect that these foods are having on your body and people don’t do that. The reason I quit eating certain foods is because of the effect they were having on my body that I was just done with. I was over the joint pain. I was done with the chronic diarrhea and now I am much much better because I went back to the basics. Our ancestors eat meat. They didn’t have sweet apples and sweet, bananas, and fake lettuces.

Yep. Checking my bloods regularly showed me that high glycaemic foods and fruits ie carbs cause me a problem,... So first Atkins, then keto and now carnivore and never felt better. Fruit only when in season, carbs once a week, exercise and fasting regularly keeps my weight stable and stacks of energy. At 77 I have enough get up and go to do an hour's weight training daily at the gym. Most people I think are carb addicts, like some commenters occasionally appearing here!

Yet statistically, diet only accounts for 10% of dis-ease. There’s far too much demonization of food - especially more affordable food. Social determinants have a colossal effect on our health. Far more than any bread with have on us. Food is minuscule in the grand scheme of things. More than WHAT you eat, the RELATIONSHIP that you have to food is far more imperative and effects everything from digestion to nutritional value to the amount of stress that we elicit from being so pedantic in what we consume. Too many people die from cancer and it wasn’t from eating the “wrong” foods. It’s tremendous psychological and social stress.

Where is his support for the claim that artificial sweeteners damage our gut health or "metabolism" and this is somehow worse than the issues with full sugar sodas? All studies on this have been in rodents, with extremely high doses of artificial sweetener (comparable to consuming thousands of cans of soda for a human), and the results were actually inconclusive. They just noticed a change in gut microbiome, they can't determine whether the change is positive or negative. Tons of things you consume can change your gut microbiome, it doesn't mean they're automatically bad, nor do we even know if this actually occurs in humans or not, it's not been sufficiently studied at all. Also, obesity has serious measurable negative impacts to health, so why are we assuming that consuming soda with sugar and becoming obese is somehow better? This is an insane claim with no real backing in the research.

While casting to the right side gets you in creative mode or flow state to Be Still and realize Oneness with the Divine. Then at that point one will create what he/she desires as it's then realized we are all Creators. Enjoy, Celebrate you are already whole and complete 😊 You are Loved, Stay Blessed, All is Grace
