What’s really in that snack food?
Too frequently, the answer is palm oil produced with modern day slavery, child labor, and worker and human rights abuses.
Sacrificing the lives, health, and safety of the people who work on palm oil plantations is far too high a price to pay for the cheap palm oil used in snack foods made by companies like PepsiCo.

People, look into starting a *raw food* diet rather then all this processed food. From the empty calories, the high salts and artificial sugars and the cheap palm oil, none of it is healthy, and all of is neatly packaged in plastic, made from oil, which ends up in land fills and the oceans. If we start eating cleaner we can help reduce waste, human slavery and deforestation. Humans are not designed to eat this junk food, that's why so many have illnesses such as diabetes, cancers and obesity. See Fork Over Knives on youtube

Since I started looking for nutritional values on products, I ran away from snacks and fast foods, have you seen the amount of sodium and saturated fat? They're not only bad for environment, but for you too! I wonder how many people die in a yearo r have health problems only by eating wrong!

Shouldn't food companies that incorporate these unhealthy ingredients be held accountable? Shouldn't they have to make additional and supplemental contributions towards the health care system to offset health problems that they have engendered? Aren't they part of the high national expense of health care?

Steven Mitchell Not in my opinion, sir, but I have a good reason, I believe on the free will of the people, if it is to make use of the taxpayer's money, in my opinion it's better an emotional campaign nation wide, like crying, sad people saying "I lost my beloved one for a stroke", or something like that, with other videos teaching what everything of the nutritional values mean, because most people don't know the difference between saturated and unsaturated fat, for example, and then, a tax relief on healthy meals, while non healthy is more taxed! You see, people buy these foods because they're mostly cheap and tasty, that's where it should act, by making it expensive, which gives me another idea, about the campaign saying about not only the cost of buying unhealthy foods, but the expenses on health care they lead to too! My final point, is that since fast food market generates a lot, and a lot of jobs, and moves so much of the economy, prohibition would just make people angry, and it wouldn't be a truly effective way of dealing with it! Psychologically speaking, give them a treat when they got it right and a buzz when they're wrong, and you can teach anyone to reeducate themselves, forbid and it's like a punch on the face! Seen many people stop their food reeducation because the nutritionist prohibited them of eating anything, while people that got a day free ended with much better results!

Palm oil is the most productive vegetable oil crop. Replacing palm oil with other types of vegetable oil (such as sunflower, soybean or rapeseed oil) would mean that much larger amounts of land would need to be used, since palm trees produce 4-10 times more oil than other crops per unit of cultivated land. This would result in serious environmental damage, with the risk that more forests would need to be converted into agricultural land, while livestock and beef production has led to more than five times the amount of deforestation, compared to palm oil. In producing countries, millions of farmers and their families work in the palm oil sector. Palm oil plays an important role in the reduction of poverty in these areas. In south east asia, more than 4.5 million people earn their living from palm oil production. Stopping the production of palm oil altogether would create significant problems for these people who support their families by working in this industry. Replacing palm oil with other types of oil is not always feasible due to palm oil’s unique properties as food ingredient. Using other oils would not give the products the same texture and taste that palm oil offers.

Palm oil is mainly is highly processed junk foods. So, by eliminating junk food one can have a huge role in standing against deforestation. However, it is our consumption of eating rotting dead animals by constantly bringing them into existence only to kill them that is the greatest threat to all forests.

Why would we need palm oil, anyway? We can have baked goods, junk food, beauty products, and house products WITHOUT palm oil or any other form of cruelty. And for those of you who don't know, vegans also care about humans as well. We might love animals and don't want violence in them but we also care about how humans are treated as well and slavery is one of the things we're against. Did you also know that when you go vegan, you actually help stop world hunger. If you don't believe me, look it up on Google, or better yet; if you're on KZfaq reading this comment, look up videos as well. Don't ask me because you're not handicapped.
