Thank you for sharing comments about your journey of reentering the pubic arena since Covid. It helps immensely to know that I’m not alone on that journey. I was born in 1941 so my sister and I shared a similar experience during the Polio epidemic wherein our interactions with other children was very limited to our home base during the height of the virus. This time , however, I was transitioning from a demanding career as a school administrator to being retired followed by a total lockdown. Relating back to childhood I quickly adapted to the situation of being back home. It became a comfortable setting of knitting, reading, and listening to the radio( or viewing the world from my IPad) rather than being with others. We’ll all find a familiar path to travel on just as you do on your walks.

LOVING the newer, freer format! Now that you've discovered your love of half Fishermans rib, I suggest Andrea Mowry's Attune shawl - it's similar construction to the cinnabar shawl, but half Fishermans rib, half brioche and a whole lotta squish! Your thoughts about reentering social settings post-pandemic resonated with me, too. I too find myself very much out of my comfort zone when I'm required to participate in groups with complete strangers. But that's okay! Thanks for sharing your joyful knitting with the world!

Thanks so much for the Botanical gardens and bike path views at the end. The flowers were so beautiful and it looked so relaxing and peaceful. I know what you mean about social situations after Covid. I, too, feel more introverted than previously and have to push myself more to be social than I remember doing before. It felt so natural and now I have to think about it more and make more of an effort. Hopefully, the more I keep doing it, it will feel very natural again. Thanks for another fun video. Happy knitting!!!

Hi Amy. I have been watching your various podcasts on my large TV where I only watch You Tube videos. I am watching now your Episode 36 on January 27, 2023, which was my 76th birthday. Your knitting is beautiful. I watched your podcast of your many shawls, and they are all beautiful, but you are more beautiful than them. You are a lovely lady, and you are a very caring lady. You explain your knitting beautifully. The botanical garden that you visited is beautiful. I like the benches there that you can sit on and watch the beautiful garden. I finished knitting tonight the lap blanket for my 12 year old granddaughter, Heidi. My daughter is picking me up tomorrow to bring me to her house for a couple of nights. I am looking forward to be with her and my three grandchildren. Take Care, Amy, and thank you for your beautiful podcasts. 😊

Oh my, that visit to the Botanical Gardens was spectacular. No wonder you love to go there. I loved Glasgow when I had a short visit there many years ago and do remember getting lost, although, if truth be told, I think we got lost in Edinburgh too. Lol! The little sweater for Alex is so sweet. I will watch your progress and then consider making one for my 4 year old grandson. He lives in California, but it does get a little chilly there in the winter. I am dreaming of so many summer tees, but live in the interior of B. Canada where the temps are around 35-40 C in the summer, so most tees are still too warm. The Ankers T is calling to me and I have some cotton yarn that could work. I think you will love your Joji cardigan if you ever get it done- I have looked at the pattern lovingly, but know my attention span wouldn’t last- maybe if it was bulky- lol! Thanks for another lovely podcast.

I completely agree with your comments regarding Covid. I find that I have to sometimes force myself to go out of the house. And that is really strange because I had a very busy and active social life prior to Covid. I find it’s the same with a lot of my friends: they tend to cocoon and rarely socialize. It’s always up to me to organize events🎉. But I generally prefer to do them at my hour than go out to other people’s places. The Tankar tee is lovely - I was a test knitter for it. I have tested forty-five patterns, thus far. Thirty five have been for Sari Nordlund. I just finished the Wood Anemone Tee while watching your latest KZfaq episode. I also highly recommend the designer Meiju K-P. Her patterns are great and the fit is always superb. I rarely knit a pattern more than once, but I am making my second Linbo Tee. 🇨🇦🇫🇮

Wonderful episode, Amy! Just what I needed after a whirlwind weekend. I was salivating over that chai / matcha yarn! We don’t have that store here so I’ll have to live vicariously through you 🫖 Someone mentioned below that Boston is grid less chaos. Even people from there get lost using GPS so don’t feel too bad 😂 I also suffer from decision paralysis at times. I’ve been trying to set Fridays as life admin days so I can make decisions and run errands I don’t like once a week 🙃 Hurray for your future Soho Top!! That’s a beautiful color. Can’t wait to see yours! I’m gonna finish mine up and then hope a hot wash shrinks it enough to not be so huge 🙏🏿 Finally, gorgeous footage of the botanical gardens yams I loved the dramatic music accompanying it 💜

Funny about coming out of lockdown & changing-I feel that way too, but the opposite! I had crippling social anxiety before the lockdowns and have been working on it for perhaps a decade, so when the lockdowns ended, I felt like I had lots of tools to work with it, but many many people have developed social anxiety & don’t have experience with it now. The result is that suddenly I’ve become one of the most outgoing people I know! A strange transition to go from being the shy wallflower to the person going up to strangers and inviting them round. It’s a bit that I’ve changed, it’s a bit that everyone else has changed.

Thoroughly enjoying your chatting while I'm knitting away on sleeves of a test knit and had to pause to comment on your struggle with directions and getting around. I also have this struggle and it's even more complicated by the fact that for the life of me, I can never get directions right. Someone tells me to turn left while I'm driving...99% of the time I turn right. I get them mixed up constantly. And I can only figure out north, south, east, west if I can see where the sun is setting or rising. It all gets flipped around in my head. You're not alone!

What a lovely episode as always! Such a joy to spend time with you :) I'm not sure if anyone has already commented, but The Yarn Cake shop has recently moved premises and it's in Partick on Crow Road now. If you're getting public transport you can jump on either the subway or the underground and get off at Partick, and it's a ten minute walk from there. If you get off at Partick you'd turn onto Dumbarton Road from the station - then turn left and walk up until you get to a road crossing and you'll spot Crow Road when you cross over - it has a sort of business estate at the start of the street with a MacDonalds and a big Sainsbury's. I hope that's helpful! Sorry if that's too much. I can turn around in my own street and get lost and I always overdo directions for that reason! 😆Thanks again for another amazing podcast!

I am fascinated by astroligy myself, maybe I will get time to go to courses and read more about it once I retire ❤. Love your podcast and your knitting ❤.

I find astrology endlessly fascinating. Will be a student all my life, I think. Always more to learn about the stars! ✨

I like the new format, though I will confess to missing the drawing of a card, which I always enjoyed. Looking at that Sunset Camisole, I'll bet you could modify that tiny, short strap to be wide enough to conceal a bra strap. I think even I could do that, and I'm not nearly as experienced a knitter as you. I laughed out loud at your struggle with grid system streets. I grew up in a grid city (Vancouver, BC), and was bewildered by the address numbering in Toronto, and by streets changing their name at every junction in central London. Grid systems are super comfortable to me, especially if they're aligned to the cardinal compass points and numbered by hundred-blocks (that is, all the addresses on the same block of all North-South streets fall within the same number range, and the same is true of the east-west streets. If I'm at 1562 First Ave, I know I'm closer to one end of the block than the other, and if I want to get to 8635 First Ave, I know I have to go 71 blocks in that direction. (Also, odd and even numbers are on opposite sides of the street, which I think is fairly standard but not always universal!)

You’re absolutely right, Wendy - I’m sure I could have a go at modifying the straps.

The website for sostrene grene indicates that the metallic thread is 180m for 25gr. Hope that helps 😊

I think the camisole from Sari Nordlund would look nice under a blazer or jacket or maybe even a cardi. Just an idea!

I love your botanical photos but I would love it also if you could write the names of the plants esp the flowers. Im in Australia, so totally different and unknown plants, to me. Those white flowers are so beautiful. Would that be Elderberry? Thanks

I think the white blossom is Hawthorne, the sprays of white flowers are cow parsley, and then the flowers at the end are rhododendrons

Do tell… what is a Ginger Slap Jack ?

I think Amy is saying flapjack which is an oat biscuit/slice quite popular in Scotland 😀

So, this is another one of those occasions when something that you assume is universal is actually culturally specific! A flapjack is an oat based traybake sold in most cafes here. The ginger flapjack that I like from the botanics cafe has a sugary topping made with stem ginger. Sweet but delicious.
