I am beyond words on the quality of your work here. You have come so far. As, of course, did they. My grandfather was sorely wounded the month before at Neuve Chapelle but served until the end of the Great War. Only to serve for a third time in WW2 in the Home Guard. Bravo to you and bravissimo to those brave Canadians in who served in all three of his wars.

The entire video is so damn good but from 34:50 on I was on the edge of my seat. The tension, the mood it all works so well and you do an amazing job building the story and emotion of the battle. The frantic hip shooting, bayonet fighting and narration all paints such a vivid picture for the viewer. I appreciate all the effort and detail to represent history correctly that goes into every video. One of a kind channel my friend.

From 34 minutes onward, this was bloody terrifying. I've never seen so gripping a dramatization of combat in WWI. Although watching a video probably doesn't even get within 10% of what those men really felt, when I saw you pulling off your kit and greatcoat, I felt myself starting to sweat and feel a lump in my gut. The idea of leaving behind your earthly possessions, not knowing if you would ever come back to claim them, really made palpable the feeling of dread and stress some of those brave Canadians must have felt in the moments leading up to "going over the top"---and then the sheer chaos and terror of the close-combat in the darkness of the wood. All while shellfire and screams of the dying surround you. And with a rifle that has a 50/50 chance of working at best! You've done a better job than a lot of Hollywood movies of conveying at least an inkling of what it would have been like to be in action during the First World War.

The first time a "colonial" force defeated a continental force on European soil. I was at sea and missed the posting of this video, and I am thoroughly impressed with its quality, as we've all come to expect from BritishMuzzleLoaders. Well done, and thank you for documenting the exploits of our forefathers and the beginning of a series of events that would truly give birth to our nation. BZ to Rob and all others involved in the production.

Thank you! But in rushing to trumpet the "success" of those fighting in this battle, we might be overlooking things... 1, The Indian Corps fought at Neuve Chappell in March 1915 (and that was actually a victory, though obviously limited) and the Battle of Second Ypres was a loss by the same criteria....

At the risk of being pedantic, "2nd Ypres" isn't a battle honour,....... "Ypres, 1915" is the correct name.,..... 😀 There are 4 "sub" honours as awarded to Canadian units.... Gravenstafel (Kitcheners Wood falls under this one), St Julien, Frezenberg, and Bellewaarde Ridge. Just thought you might like to know the full context, that's all.
