DISCLAIMER: The Jog pipes actually have a broader (but smoother and tamer) effect on power all throughout the RPM range with a smooth power band up higher in the RPMs. Almost on the contrary, the belly/MX pipes have a VERY aggressive effect on the power in the low and mid-RPM range with a bit up top and a MUCH more pronounced powerband compared to the jog pipes. So, if you want more of a cruiser bike that isn't as aggressive, the jog pipe may be best, but if you want a touchy bike with a ton of torque that'll feel like it'll rip off your head, the belly pipe may be a better option.

BTW, as said in the video, I HIGHLY recommend staying away from ANY products sold by “BikeBerry” or any products labeled “BBR,” due to being VERY low quality, VERY expensive, and while they make claims that their products are “high performance,” none of their products actually increase performance in ANY shape of form. In short, BikeBerry is a COMPLETE sham!

Great video on explaining everything one thing to mention is a shorter header actually gives you more high rpm power and a longer header gives more mid range hence why a mz65 clone has more acceleration than a nasty jack because it performs best around 4500~6500rpm while as a nasty jack is 7000~8500rpm these numbers change once the engine is ported to higher durations

0:44 "the size and length of the header stinger and belly is directly proportional to the size of the engine" The size of the header diameter is proportional to the size of the exhaust port. length of header and belly are dictated by dwell, or desired RPM range for the returning wave. Stinger has to do with bleeding off pressure. speed of sound affected by temp and pressure. higher pressure raises temp. go read "Two-Stroke Performance Tuning in Theory and Practice" by A. Bell. for a better break down.

Thanks for the comment. I know what you are talking about, but for this video, I wasnt trying to go COMPLETELY in-depth, just so those who know NOTHING about exhausts and engines (much less all the slogan) can understand what exhausts are worth buying and which ones to stay away from. There is a good amount of information out there concerning the exhaust geometry, but this video was meant for those who are getting into the hobby and want to make sure they are getting a good exhaust system without going nose-deep in al the statistics, hence why I generalized on most of that stuff.

@@a.m.bgarage.everydayprojec9665 appreciated. hard to see someone spending more on an expansion chamber than the entire motor. i've spent way too much time with 50cc. how about: an expansion chamber is not a muffler. it takes the sound wave from the opening exhaust and returns it as an echo to push intake charge back into the exhaust port. the two cones of the chamber shape this pressure wave, and the header needs to allow it to return intact before the exhaust closes. i liked your characterization of "two types" fat circuit pipes for stronger, lower rpm range, and thinner for higher rpm applications.

Thanks for the comment. I may make a video going more in depth about everything and how to relate it with motorized bikes in the near future and will definitely get into the nitty-gritty. I cant see myself spending any more than $100 on an exhaust, but there are people out there that are more than willing to pay a premium in order to squeeze out that little bit of power.

One important piece of info, is that the length of the header is correlated to the exhaust and transfer duration which is why recording the durations correctly is important. (180° - Opening degree ATDC) x 2 = Duration Great tutorial btw. I'm glad someone could shed light on this. Personally, I am not in favor of bolt-on pipes. The results are usually credited from having less restriction however at the end of the day, one pipe is not going to be of maximum benefit as one pipe cannot fit ALLLL the different port timing. Aside from people having cash to blow, this is why you often see people with custom pipes that also match the engine itself. Keep the positive propaganda coming my guy!

Yeah. This video was mainly focused toward the novices in the hobby, so I didn't want to go COMPLETELY in depth and instead generalized on a lot of things. The information I skipped/generalized may be important to experienced builders, but would really just confuse new builders (like it did when I firsts started out). I've found that many (if not most) builders prefer bolt on upgrades over anything that requires more than tightening 2 bolts (such as porting, decking, balancing crank, all cause its too much work and they dont want to LEARN how to do it), so that's why I left out mx pipes, piaggio jog pipes, etc, and stuck to the basics and related the info to some of the best pipes you can buy now that are talored specifically for motorized bikes (The amount of people that are still using their Z4/Z8C plugs furthers my argument that simpler is better when it comes to the newer builders. lol). In the future, I plan on revamping on a few of my information videos and going further in depth, and this is one of them.

great job! i tried and tried to mig weld the sheet steel but its not easy! it was fun. a learning experience, and the one with no leaks (finally) was as good or better than any pipe i've used. i used a 21mm dellorto and all the usual mods. i encourage people to run a temp gauge-it makes tuning the main jet easy! as you know-proper carb jetting makes a huge difference!

Lol. Welding is not easy, especially if you have a crappy welder like me, but definitely fun. I know, its crazy how much of a difference jetting and carb adjustments can make. In fact, it is one of the most important aspects of any engine. My 212 bike ran like GARABGE and couldnt get to 30mph, now I did some carb adjustments and now itll shred belts at close to 60mph. lol

Good video and much needed. As someone that recently started doing research and have had the mz65 clone and have thought about upgrading, this is a good video for recommendations. The mz65 clone deffinately gives performance over the stock muffler it is also about three times as loud. The clone is certainly not the best out there but is good for testing and by far the cheapest. But if you have more money an upgrade is welcome

Yeah. I own the clone and its OK, but it REALLY helps when you use a muffler not only for reducing noise (muffler makes it only slightly louder than stock), but also give a little power boost as well. The stinger is a tad too thick, so by using a muffler, you are effectively lengthening it and decreasing its diameter, which keeps the power it has down low, but makes the exhaust more effective at higher rpms. Really the only two bike frames Ive found to be good for motorized bikes are beach cruiser (if you can get an older steel frame with a larger 1 1/8in headtube, you can use suspension, but if not, regular Walmart cruisers work just as well, but wont have suspension) and the felt faker frames. Ive found it to be VERY BENEFICIAL to use only a single-speed setup (even if you use a mountain bike), cause it allows for simplicity, ease of installation/maintenance.

Your right on point about the difference in frames in my experience with old school beach cruiser long skinny steel frames are way better over all than new school style mountain bikes hybrid bikes road bikes with thicker aluminum frames are good but not as good as the first mentioned. Fir 1 they tend to be more difficult builds more vibration than old school steel. Also about the single speed freewheel setup, so much better way to go than multiple geared bikes. But to each his own right.

@@a.m.bgarage.everydayprojec9665 There is an SR Suntour XCM30 26" suspension fork made for a 1" headtube, but they seem to be hard to find right now. There is also the RST Capa-T 26" suspension fork for a 1" headdube. Both work on old beach cruisers.

Yes. That is a great pipe, however, because it is designed for a horizontally mounted engine, it won’t fit a motorized bike (which is vertically mounted) unless you cut and re-weld the header. Because those have a minarelli exhaust flange, it will fit a Minarelli cylinder (once you’ve re-welded the header), but, because the exhaust flanges are different, it won’t fit a chinadoll cylinder. However, if your are planning to use it for a chinadoll, instead of welding on a new exhaust flange, the CDH67 jog pipe will perform pretty similarly and doesn’t require any welding, but is only available for chinadolls.

@@a.m.bgarage.everydayprojec9665 I was just curious. I already modified the header to fit on the beach cruiser with minarelli on it. I did have to cut the header a little bit shorter, maybe 20-30mm shorter, hopefully that doesnt affect too much

Hello, i'm getting a bit confused by the video. My engine is completely stock but i have just brought a new carb by YOXUFA which apparently will give me a but more top end. My question is which exhaust will give me the most mid/bottom end power as well as the best sounding and more of a 2 stroke sound. Hopefully also a better powerband kick in. Thanks I'm looking to get it so that my engine revs out higher without making any big mods.

I believe the mz65 clone will be the right one, although the linked one is unavailable in my country. Would the same looking exhaust be fine? They have a couple reviews of great sounding but also others that say they have rough edges on the welds..

@@rmani9924 The Mz65 clone pipe is honestly the best pipe for the cost. As long as it looks almost the same, it should perform the same. The only thing with the Mz65 pipe, however, is that the geometry is a bit off. This is fixed when the stinger is either lengthened or made a bit skinnier. hey i have a question , on my minarelli engine i want to setup a yasuni r2 pipe made for high rpm . Its total lengh is 75mm so the powerband should hit in the 7k to 8k rpm , but i would have to remove the pedals and start it by taking down hill speed or pushing the bike with my own leg ... And all of this with a 10/36 transmission on 26 inch wheels . Is it overkill , (its not a daily driver its just for fun i live in rural area)??

I had a Minarelli scooter a while back with this same pipe and the thing was fast and the pipe worked quite well. However, if you are planning to mock it up for a motorized bike and go through all that headache, I would look at RMH's minarelli pipe (rmhperformance.com/products/minarelli-racing-pipe?variant=42275449110705), which is not only cheaper than the (genuine) Yasuni r2 pipe, but will perform IDENTICALLY, and is already mocked up for a bicycle with a slip fit header. In terms of overkill, you're fine. I personally wouldn't pay that much for an exhaust, but if you got the funds blowing a hole in your pocket, by all means, go for it.

I have the Phantom 85 engine and I wanted to put a sized exhaust that I found on Amazon, but it doesn't fit in the engine cylinder Could it be that if I cut a part of the original engine exhaust and weld it on the new exhaust would it give a loss of power?

Yeah. The Phantom 85 and the Avenger use different, larger exhaust flanges. You can definitely cut the flange off the original exhaust and weld it on the new one. As far as performance, make sure the header width is appropriate for the new flange. Also make sure the geometry of the pipe is correct for the larger displacement engine. You can squeeze more power out by using something like a MZ65 clone pipe, but especially for the larger engines, you definitely want something with a larger belly.

I would take the clutch cover off and put a small allen key or skrew driver between the pinion gear and clutch basket, so the engine wont turn over/spin when you loosen the pull start nut. If its on too tight, I would also try heating up the nut with a torch and do the same thing to loosen. In the future, I would make sure you arent over tightening nuts and bolts, ESPECIALLY when it comes to the soft metal of the crankshaft threads.

Yes. I meant to add it in the video, but I forgot. Many of these exhausts are compatible with a universal 22mm silencer, which quites the exhaust down quite a bit and actually not much louder than stock while not noticeably taking power from the exhaust. As far as I know, there is not aftermarket exhausts for the Phantom 85. Unless you get somebody to weld one for you with the Phantom exhaust flange, youll have to stick with the stock exhaust.

Yea, another guy on here busted all this bs, a 2 stroke makes more power with only a 2” pipe off the head, there is no need for back pressure on a 2 stroke! Witch is why we run open dumped pipes on our banchee race bike. Also the class rules states it can not have more then 12” of exhaust and no muffler

your comment proves why you're banging angry comments instead of hitting a nice Polini Top One. it's not about "back pressure" but timed exhaust pulses ramming charge back into the motor, increasing VE. yes, it is a supercharger of sorts. maybe she really likes your 2" pipe?

Not entirely true. A tuned exhaust uses resonance to to use the sound wave to push the charge back into the cylinder at a specific rpm range. Giving a huge gain at that range.its not about back pressure. It's about open exhaust at most rpms with a boost of increasing the charge in the cylinder at a specific rpm
