@@somerandomboi8239 I'm in the UK and I'd buy this kind of kit from Decathlon - when I went to buy it there was nothing in stock because of the Covid 19 situation. I've been rolling it on a ball instead and it has got a lot better, but I'm not sure if it was the rolling on its own. I'm doing a lot of work on my Glutes which this bloke advocates as well and I reckon that's the key to my recovery. Also the slowing down on the activities that might stress it (Lowering the load) with a gradual build up over weeks and months. What I have found though is the other knee seems to be sore - possibly because its doing more work? This new soreness is in the back of the knee. But, I'm back doing what I do (Cricket - bowler) and I'm getting through the games with no real issues. Note also I'm an old bloke (60).

Ty for the great video! I am puzzled what to do - last week I did more HIIT workouts than usual (indoors and a lot of jumping squats). Previous couple weeks I’d done more skipping but before that did normal HIIT (jump squats etc..). Since this week of increased HIIT my knees feel a bit tender.. they don’t hurt but they’re very sensitive and when I crouch down they feel very tight - what do I do? Apart from avoid HIIT for a week and maybe wait a bit longer to do glute/leg day.... praying this is a one time thing and can heal quickly :( never had this before in my life

Tips: you can test to see if you have jumpers knee by straightening your leg on a couch or bed, relax the muscles, and push your patella(knee cap) towards your foot. If you have jumpers knee, you will notice a sharp pain when doing so. Another tell tale sign is if you have pain walking down hills, slopes and stairs. Do not get a cortisone injection as this can make things worse. Increase your quad strength and take naproxen ec(prescription) or Aleve, collagen supplements and L glutamine. This will get you back on the fast track.

Huh, I thought I had jumpers knee but there is absolutely no pain whatsoever when doing this. My muscles don't hurt either, and I don't think I have a meniscus or a ligament tear. Its just that my knees get tired first as soon as I start and then as j continue working out they stop hurting. The next day they either hurt a bit when I wake up and then go away or don't hurt at all. I figured i was just starting to develop it.

Dynamic pre game/practice should be part of a good warm up. Static stretching can lead to drop in performance. Static post game if you feel it helps you. Stretching is a bit of a controversial thing because its effects are more neurophysiological than actually physically stretching a tissue, which takes a lot of time under the stretch and force.

For most severe cases a typical foam roller will not work. I uses a padded thin metal bar amd simply lay in each section on the leg from the knee all the way up and i hit all 3 sides on the leg this take me about 45 to an hour "per leg" it is very painfull until the muscle gives out just remember to pace urself

I believe I have Jumpers Knee from playing offensive line. it started about a year and a half ago. ive taken about 3 separate months off throughout that time but it always seems to come back. I had like 4 weeks off before we started our season and it got better after the second week with no pain at all, but after coming back to football, by the end of the first week, it was already back to hurting real bad. Im planning on seeing a doctor soon so hopefully they can find the issue but I'll definitely be trying some of these.

I know this video is old and you will probably never see this but, I've got nothing to lose, so here goes. You can say whatever you want about the title. But I do agree with it. If there would be anything to add to this video, it would be how to use tape/bands to support the tendon while excersising. Otherwise everything said in the video is dead on what you need to do. Doing it twice a day for about a month should make huge improvements and might even fix the issue (depening on how serious the symptoms are). First video I've seen on the matter and first video I've seen on this channel but I can strongly recommend it and I will definitely check out more videos. Don't know if you already have covered this and I do understand that you kind of avoid these matters because of self-diagnosing. (Wrong rehab can make things much worse and putting a diagnose on something can often have negative effects on your performance/motivation.) But I would love to see a video on the Extensor Tendonitis (Foot + Mainly the "Big Toe Tendon") and see what you have to say about it. Your way of explaining and givind advice + exercises is very efficient, very easy to understand and straight to the point. I like it, I want more and I can definitely recommend this to others. Great vid, thanks a lot!

If I experience a lot of knee pain after running/walking up stairs is that most likely from weak hamstrings?
@joelbackman8330
@joelbackman8330 6 жыл бұрын
There can be a hell of a lot of reasons. It might be: - a disability to properly co-contract ham's and quad's - a weakness in the glutus medius (which is a hip stabilizer) - cuz u are a heel runner (which is hella bad since it makes u ignore the calves, who are great shock absorbers) - lacking strength in either ham's, quad's or glutes - you have shoes with a big drop which eventually with destroy your akillies tendon, which eventually will hinder your ankle mobility and thus overload your knee's

You’ve definitely got patellar tendinitis it can be caused by many things, could be weak hamstrings glutes, ankles, they aren’t strong enough to maintain the load you are applying, so the knee will definitely receive overload. I got mine from volleyball, the way I was landing and the repetitive movements were too much apparently . I’ve had it for about 4 years now and throughout that time it comes and goes. Last year I got rid of it for a while, thinking I was fully healed, but I spoke too soon and ended up getting it back. It’s effected all my sports as a whole, track and field, rugby, volleyball etc. heaps of these videos have helped in a way but it seems to just not be going away. I fear I’ve ruined the chances of recovery .

Thanks for the video, I just came across the channel. So I thought I had Patellar Tendonitis but it isn't necessarily on the knee tendon, so I'm wondering if you have any idea what may have happened? I got it from jumping (trying to dunk) in my driveway a few weeks ago and it hasn't gotten much better. It feels tight (and some pain) when going down into the squat position. The location of the pain is on the bone roughly three inches down from my kneecap. It feels like a bone bruise, but I never hit it on anything. As you mentioned in the video, I have very weak gluteus, so I'll start working on those. Also another kid on my team had the same exact thing a two weeks before me, so I guess it happens to more than just me. Do you think this is Patellar Tendonitis, or is it something else? Any ideas? The basketball season is about to start and I don't really know what to do with it. Thanks for any help!! Connor

Scurvy Films this is a little late, but it sounds like you may have Osgood-Schlatter disease. this is usually caused by growth spurts in children who jumps repetitively. when i was younger, i had it in both knees and for about a year for both. the best thing you can do is take pain meds and use a patellar strap. because it is a growing thing, there isn’t much else you can do until you finish growing. disclaimer i am not a medical professional just someone who had something that sounds similar to what you have!

I genuinely developed Jumper’s Knee from bowling. I have been officially diagnosed from a doctor, I was waking up in extreme pain in my knee. Most people wouldn’t think ten-pin bowling would cause someone to develop Jumper’s Knee… But I bowl competitively, so I was shooting 20 games every day for months right after the COVID ban was slightly lifted. Also, I have been a competitive bowler since I was fourteen years old, so my slide knee has taken quite a beating over the years. Jumper's knee is caused by excessive knee-dominant jumping in which the athlete may lack gluteal and hamstring strength/motor control. The best fix for jumper's knee, in addition to stretching, is to adopt hip hinge mechanics rather than knee hinge mechanics. This will place more load on the hip and less on the patellar tendon.

Now, the situation is, I am able to perform exercises like squats, lunges and it does not hurt as such while doing it, but once I am done with workout, it really starts to hurt after 2 hours or so, and this pain goes on for like 1 day or so. If I do not perform any exercise, it is fine, but hurts if I am climbing up or down the stairs, in a nutshell, knee is not well. What is suggested in this case? How many times a week the exercises are recommended? What to do before or after this workout?

@kobeskyball2281

Sam M she probably doesn't let you do those quad exercises to make you stronger but because it lets more blood go to your tendon which allows the tendon to heal better. indeed most athletes have weaker glutes and hamstrings so you should also focus on that

I probably sound dumb but how does rolling out your muscles help your knee?
@justinm412
@justinm412 5 жыл бұрын
Holly Wilkins tight leg muscles (especially quads/hips/calves) put more stress on the knee and basically messes up your kinetic chain. Rolling the leg muscles (with foam roller/basketball/tennis ball etc.) help loosen the muscle up.

that's a stupid mentality for a athlete to have, or smart, depending if the athlete wants to stop being a athlete and having pain forever. stop your sport, go to a physio, doctor, pilates, whatever, and get if fixed so you can play the damn sport and be good at it. otherwise you're just fucking yourself up

Well you gotta figure out what caused the problem in the first place and try to eliminate/minimize the activity. For me it was Doing really heavy lifting+ cutting hair+ working on machinery all of which involves a lot of gripping, my muscles weren't getting enough rest/ recovery. Rest/ Ice/Heat it as much as you can. But what really worked for me was the flexbar in combination with super cissus Rx supps. it's going to take a few months for it to be completely healed.

So i believe i hurt my knee by the way i landed during my volleyball game yesterday. I can walk with my leg but i can't add extra weight to it-like i can't bend my knee and balance on the same leg or hop with that leg. Does anyone have an idea what this is? It happened very recently so I haven't gotten it checked out yet but maybe soon i will.

Mann honestly it has gotten a lot bette. I hardly feel any pain only when standing or sitting in the same position for hours. But I didn’t get better until I started going hard in the gym. Building quad muscles, glutes , hamstring and calves and also stretching 2-4 for times a day. But have to build a lot of muscle like your trying to enter the nfl draft playing running back lol my progress pictures are amazing
