Eternals is definitely not the worst movie Marvel has ever made but there is definitely something missing that could turn the most forgettable element into something interesting.

Again, your stuff is pretty genius. Except.. and this is the first time I've disagreed with you, the idea of Karun being there at all is weird but showing a monster that's been sentient for a week a camcorder video of his 5000 year old enemies infighting is *insane*. If that happened in the movie we'd all have laughed this movie out of existence lol I think let him live, leaves him, he watches ikarus trying to stop them and either fights ikarus, and dies while the eternals save the planet, or it goes how you described with the unimind (minus the friend making). That way he's still out for vengeance, but he and them are humanized in eachothers eyes. Making a more interesting villain in the future.

When Kro arrived during the final fight, I was totally ready for him to join in against Ikarus. I thought it was clear that they had a common enemy now. So when he just started fighting Thena I was... Confused? It felt underwhelming, especially considering Gilgamesh, probably my favorite Eternal died at his hands.

there's a flaw in this "one small change"... why does Kingo come back in the first place? I felt like his arc just dropped off a cliff, for no reason, when in reality he had one of the stongest, along with Phastos, reasons to save Earth. at the beginning, he wasn't willing to fight the deviants because that meant leaving his cast, crew, fans, etc. behind. But then at the end, he's ok with them all being destroyed? and Karun? I like your idea that Kro changes his mind after seeing Karun's documentary, but for me, that wouldn't happen during the final fight. There needed to be another scene before that where these realisations occur... here's my take on it: 1. Kro wants to take out the Eternals. He learns that Kingo has left the rest and is back home... so he goes to attack him 2. Kingo alone is no match for Kro, but just as he's about to defeat him, Kingo tells him the truth about Arishem, why they were put on Earth, etc. 3. Karun then proves it by showing him the documentary footage 4. In this moment, Kingo also realises that he should be protecting Earth, not letting it die, and he made the wrong choice to leave the others 5. They now want to help, but don't know where to go... Karun has the footage from the Domo from when Makkari came with the location 6. They arrive just as Ikaris is getting the upper hand, but seeing Kro triggers the Madweary in Thena, and she attacks him 7. then Nando's scene plays out, Kro flies off, then returns right at the end to stop Ikaris and join the uni-mind this way, we now have some kind of redemption for Kingo, and a reason for Kro...
@LM11116

have karun convince kingo to go back with the footage, and then when kro is conflicted have kingo show kro the footage, since it makes more sense than karun feeling safe enough to approach kro etc

Maybe they decided late in the game to cut Kro's role down and triggered some kind of contract breach with Stevens so they had to replace him with a Skarsgard. It'd explain why he felt so underbaked in the movie, meaningful stuff was just left out.

I had an idea to get rid of Kro and still have a side villain. Basically my idea is to give Druig Mad Wy'ry. I think it would be a much more emotional conflict if the member whose powers are telepathy and mind control is the one whose mind is constantly at odds with itself. He's clearly conflicted about his role in helping humanity, and he could easily see the destruction of previous worlds and go mad because of it. Imagine if he gets a spell of Mad Wy'ry while sleeping, and his mind controls that of one of the people he's leading in the small colony. What if he inadvertently kills this human, and when he snaps out of it, he has destroyed the one thing he could control in his life. This would make him upset, leading to the Mad Wy'ry taking control of him even more. He goes in and out of it until the other Eternals confront him. His powers now amplified, and his constraint lifted, he now takes over one of his siblings, and uses them to fight each other. Since the movie clearly wanted an excuse to have Thena fight the others, this could be where she does, but not because she has Mad Wy'ry, but because Druig controlled her. I think this would make his character more interesting, and show how dangerous a power like mind control could be. It ties into his frustration with control vs free will. It provides some Eternals on Eternals action. It opens up Thena to have her own character arc that has nothing to do with random craziness. And it gets rid of the need for Kro in the story, as Druig now acts as a secondary threat, leaving more room open for the main characters to have screentime and growth. Lmk what you guys think of this idea.

I like it, power and its consequences are themes that are explored in most of the MCU, Wanda's mind control, the Sokovia Accords, etc., films that deal with the outcomes of having power, the dangers it presents, it's the perfect internal conflict, and I think the actor for Druig (unfortunately I forget his name, Barry...? somebody) could really elevate the already present conflict in his character very well

First viewing, when Kro showed up I had thought he was gonna decide to help the others against Icarus. Since he absorbed Ajak & Gilgamesh’s powers, he also became more sentient & absorbed their feelings & memories. He’d see the deviants & the eternals were equally played by celestials. He chooses to go against the one who still supports their rule. If he died, he dies a hero. If he lives as the last of his kind, he still gets freedom he was denied

That would have been such an amazing arc for Kro!!!!! I’m upset now that they didn’t put that in!!!!

That was way better, thank you. I mean, the ending isn't the only problem, but it relieves some of the frustration I had with the movie and made more sense for the characters' arcs while tying more bows up. Is anyone else really upset that Kingo said twice that Sprite was in love with Ikaris? Because to me that wasn't clear in their actions and wouldn't friends that have known each other for thousands of years not be so oblivious to that? *cough cough show, don't tell* And if anyone liked each other, I'd think it was Thena and Gilgamesh, but I guess that wasn't a thing? Someone please rewrite the whole thing. And please don't have Ikaris fly into the sun because his name is Ikaris. Please.

I think Kro and the other deviants served their purpose well. On a first watch it's hard to get; but upon multiple rewatches it's clear that the Deviants themselves are just a distraction. Just something to keep the Eternals busy so that they can't see the truth about the Emergence. I loved the philosophical dilemma the movie toted as a central thesis: "Who are we to question the natural order of the universe?"

I wasn't expecting anything from this take as I deemed Kro unsalvageable but this is an amazing rewrite. Maybe your best. It ties everything together and the fact that Ajak and Gil are in a way with them in the Uni-Mind is so touching. Man, I'm mad now that I won't ever get to see it.

I actually DO think your ending ties into what the movie is about, which is in my mind, "how do we learn to live a life of purpose?" The Eternals and Kro had different obstacles to answering that question, and presenting his obstacle and how he overcame it would round everything out.

I love this idea, but I just realized it couldn’t technically happen because Druig mind controls Karun to throw/destroy his camera, so the footage has been lost (Edit: Nevermind, they establish he has backups)

You fixed like 4 or 5 missing moments in one. Some of the missed opportunities in this film would have been so easy to change. I was headcannoning character stuff in real time watching it. In some cases I think a few sentences different would have given a few of the characters clearer motives for decisions they made.

Great stuff, I didn't like that they didn't bring Kingo back, even if it was just to join the uni-mind. That said, wouldn't this leave Thena with nothing to do?

I like, no, love the idea behind this, and the outcome/ending, but the documentary seems forced. How would the human know to show this large scary humanoid thing the documentary. I think there are a few missing pieces to this puzzle, but yeah they shouldn't have killed Kro

I had this impression ( i forgot the exact plot of the movie) that Kro saw the Eternals fighting and wanted to join in to stop Ikaris and to stop the birth of the next Celestial then he sort of....died. And I was furious. Why waste my time with a distraction of a villain that isn't going to matter? Is it because the Deviants won't matter in the future Marvel story lines? Certain villain removals really irk me. Like when they killed Thanos instead of having him help everybody (like Buu in DBZ) or when Wenwu died. But but but but Wenwu ;_;
