Hey, Tested folks, I'm not a channel member (sorry, just a $ thing), but here's a question for Adam at some point: He talked about being a fan of Patrick Steward and of Trek, but hasn't watched the show yet. Does visiting displays like this, as much fun as it must be, cause any hesitation for him from a spoiler angle? Hearing about the Romulan black-ops with helmets "so you don't know they're Romulans until later" is what prompted the question. I'm sure it's not the first time it's come up for Adam.

The scene where Pat Stewart wears the black costume with the beret and eyepatch was ridiculously silly. It's only one of two Star Trek scenes that features him using a phony French accent. The only other scene where he uses a fake accent is when he's walking his dog at the beginning of the series premiere. He talks to the pup in French with English subtitles at the bottom of the screen. Gene Roddenberry's first choice to play Picard was Belgian actor Patrick Bauchau.

I can only speak for myself, but I would guess it is even more true for a professional like Adam: I spend a lot of my spare time in a magic theater as a technician. After a while you get so familiar with the process of how entertainment works that you start to view it from a completely different angle - you don't just get surprised by the twists and turns of a story, you recognize good story telling and start to enjoy good craftmanship as much or more than a good story. From my experience - I know how a significant part of the tricks on "my" stage work and what the story outline is, because I participate in the setup. For a lay person this would ruin the experience, for me it enhances it, because I can enjoy the craft that goes into each scene much better - I know how much work and skill goes into it. I feel like I have the best seat in the house: the normal audience just enjoys a good story (and maybe a few surprises) - I enjoy a good story (with different surprises), great craftmanship and the satisfaction of having helped.

@@KonradTheWizzard when you're dealing with a franchise with as much longevity as Star Trek, it's not unusual for a guest star to be cast in multiple roles. Diana Muldaur played three different characters, two in the original series and one on TNG. Clint Howard has appeared on TOS and DS9 as completely different characters. Most recently, Jay Karnes, who appeared in a season 5 episode of Voyager, played a completely different character in season 2 of Picard. I was hoping he would be reprising his 1999 guest role as Dukane, in command of the time traveling USS Relativity, and using the FBI as a cover to rendezvous with Picard. That would have made a much more interesting story.

I'd heard about Leonard Nimoy's love of photography, but I had no idea what kind of camera kit he was using. I didn't even realise that medium format cameras had a bigger sensor then full frame DSLRs have! I'd have loved a longer look at all the gear of his on show there, that would have been even more of an education, but it was still a joy to see it all be put to good use.

The kit in the case is a Contax 645 AF system with 1 body, 2 film backs (1 on the body), a prism finder, and a Polaroid back. There's also something that might be a film insert in a plastic box. The Contax system was noted for exceptional Carl Zeiss lenses, and a much higher tech approach than previous 645 systems. It was one of the earliest medium format systems to feature fast & accurate auto focus. It's interesting that the photo next to the case shows Nimoy using the similar Hasselblad H series 645 system. Both the Contax & Hasselblad systems can be fitted with digital backs. The Contax is long discontinued, but a digital version of the Hassy is still made.

I doubt I'll win, given what other things are bid up to already, but this one got me to actually register and put in a bid. I missed some things in the "That's a Wrap" auction that I could have afforded and REALLY wanted, but I just assumed they would be out of my reach and didn't try and I don't want to make that mistake again. My skillset as a cosplay prop maker doesn't lend itself towards the Star Trek aesthetic that I love, so I may give another attempt at commissioning something if I'm right in my prediction that I'll be massively outbid. Hated the show (so far) but love the props. One thing that caught my attention though is that the Starfleet uniforms usually looked very ill fitting--as if they were tailored for a different actor. What, the "Picard" series has ended or been cancelled????????????? Why would they get rid of the props if this is the case?

There is talk of Season 3, but yes, this certainly does seem premature.

They should have had the writers of Strange New Worlds do Picard. It really struggled on the story and writing.

Is Strange New Worlds good? I kind of ignored everything star trek after watching a few episodes of Picard.

@@elobiretv is better than STD and Picard, but it's still no where near what star trek should be. The Orville on the other hand might (by the time you reach season 3) be the one of the best star trek shows ever.

@@uglygiantbagsofmostlywater SNW has a lot of room to grow, i think. Season 2 will be the real benchmark for how they handle it going forward. If they take into consideration some.of the criticisms people made, I think it could really work. I still wish it was a show in the 24th or 25th century that didn't rely on legacy characters though, but I really enjoyed season 1

@@elobiretv Much better than Picard, IMO. What's strange is that I think many of the same people are involved. I have no idea how Picard ended up so terrible. And I second the opinion that The Orville is really good.

@@elobiretv To me Strange new worlds is the best Star trek since Enterprise, it seems they are finally after many tries getting back to something that is similar to what made Star Trek great. Picard is ok but Discovery is just awful, its like they didnt even care, i have it a try and watched the first season but was so appalled that i will never watch anything of that series again and i am a HUGE Star Trek fan.

The good news is you can skip season 1 of Picard and just watch season 2 if you haven't got the time.

Theyre happy to let you know where to have a mannequin custom made....because they get a commision cut on it so why would they sell you that mannequin when they can make more money off keeping it

I loved that in season 1 they explore Picard's journey post Dominion war and Destruction of Romulus. I have my issues with him becoming a "Gollum" as well, but in the broader context of storytelling, in both seasons, I applaud the story telling. I love to read people's agreement or disagreements, with the shared love of Trek! May all whom respond to my comments Live long and Prosper 🖖❤️🤘
