Whenever you do this sort of work it just makes me want to follow your example. Great stuff and i have quite a large stump I shall have fun with next year I suppose :)

I picked up an Hawthorn at the Doncaster show few weeks ago , nice to see you carving something i havn;t tried yet but a dremel is on the christmas list amongst other items . Great watch Ryan👍

Do you find cutting the thorns off effects the bud at the base of the Thorne

No m8, i just took the tips/half of the thorn off. Hawthorn pruning during the winter months will encourage new flower production for the following spring

Go back to your tree .look at the middle branch at the back . its the highest one . Use that as your apex as you can not bend that top one. Cut it off then you will be able to create a tree . With correct apex .as there is no control on that large branch . Ive done the same as you have On one of mine. then did what i just suggested. You will get a much faster tree . Good luck

I did look at that m8, it is to thick to bend up to create a new leader and apex out off, plus if I used that I might as well have used the one I cut off as the back one would have made the tree straight as well, I will let it run it course for a bit and see what happens.
