Hello BC, i was posted to Rockhampton (Rocky) as locals call it. The rumour i heard was Thomas Griffin haunts a home in Rocky, i never heard about the skull. I visited Mount Morgan 30 minutes drive inland from Rocky many times. Still plenty of gold deposits their. The old pubs still have artwork on the walls from the late 1800s. An interesting case researched thoroughly narrated in true BC style. Thanks for another true crime. Ps Rocky has plenty of good old aussie history to research and view.

He told the guard the location of the money,his description of his involvement is highly suspect and slanted in his favor..I believe he did have a gambling problem,that makes sense.This is what desperation,addiction and greed can lead to..he already had the inclination of spending money like crazy with his first wife's fortune. Enjoyed that! Sounds to me like Mr Thomas Griffin though he was smarter than everyone and eased his way into favourable positions for himself ie the woman he married, spent all her money then left her thinking he was dead. Well that's one thing that ended up coming true that he didn't foresee. Justice was served. 👍

Those are some mighty mighty whiskers the men of the era grew!! Another intriguing case BC!! Forensics seemed a bit macabre back then, shooting dead sheep and waiting on migrants to die so they could "experiment" with their heads. Thank you for always making Mondays more interesting!! 🙏🖤✌️

I believe they still use pig carcases to experiment both gun and knife oddities. There's also the Body Farm. If you leave your body "to science" you can't control what they use it for!
@laurabustos6560
@laurabustos6560 Жыл бұрын
@@bilindalaw-morley161 yes, I know. It just seems pretty macabre to wait for people to die so you can use them as experiments. The sheep carcasses are less so, but still odd as it's actually not as good an analog as pigs would be, and they said the sheep used were skulls. Dried out skulls also wouldn't be analogous to live humans. It was just weird I guess...

@@laurabustos6560 Reminds me of Sherlock Holmes and the affair of Black Peter; Holmes used pig carcasses to see if he could drive a harpoon through one and, by inference, whether the rather scrawny accused could have done so. Maybe Conan Doyle knew about the Griffin case?

What I found disturbing was the removing of the heads I can’t even imagine what the families went through when they found out. After all that confessing when they’re just about to hang him he screams out he’s innocent. His head comes up missing so I’m a little curious if anything happened to the doctor. Hello B.C. Wealthy widow Mrs Griffin was lucky Thomas squandered her wealth and not do away with her life, she was lucky. Sure was disgusting "the dead body of those two men was too heavy to take" so they just removed the "head and stomach " put them in a big jars to transport them for examination (ugh awful). After death of Mr Griffin by his own recognition the four thousand pounds were found, so he did it, crime does not pay. RIP Patrick and John. Have a nice week BC and faithful listeners. Elizabeth C.

Removing their heads and stomachs and putting them in a jar. How utterly disgusting. Imagine being a good normal person and having to decapitate a body to take back to the "office ". I honestly can't imagine. No amount of pay could cover that. You would have to be somewhat abnormal to have the job of the M.E. If you weren't it wouldn't take long to become that way. @stykytte
@stykytte Жыл бұрын
Right? Unless that was the only gun in Australia at the time, there is no way he could prove it just from the wounds alone. Psuedoscience like that passed for "evidence" all the time and still does in some cases, the Innocence Project highlights a lot of the problems with the forensics of today that in future people will look back on and think we were all idiots for allowing it to happen, hair and bite mark comparisons are still used in a lot of countries even though they have been proven to be very inaccurate and highly speculative, and bullet matching is used almost globally even though two new rifles produced to almost identical standards and used with the same ammunition will create bullets that are considered a "forensic match" - but 2 bullets from the same rifle when the barrel has been used over time - or even just sat unused long enough to corrode slightly - will not be a match. It's complete rubbish, and there are probably hundreds of murderers walking free and innocent people locked up because of it.

There was quite a trade in skeletal remains from Australia in the early days. Usually skeletons of deceased Aboriginals, many of which ended up in overseas museums as trophies to be studied. And are still there. There was a craze for phrenology (reading the bumps on the skull). People were quite happy to kill animals to be stuffed for taxidermy. If you read the book by the naturalist Alfred Wallace (contemporary of Darwin and famous for the Wallace line in Indonesia). He describes in gruesome detail how he went about collecting (murdering) orang-utans in Indonesia.

Thankyou, I was not aware of that and will look into it. I would never show any pictures of deceased people, obviously as I do mainly historical crime most of my cases are over 100 years old so the people in the photos will now be deceased but I would not show a picture of anyone who was not living when the photo was taken.

No. Don't make a big, ugly change to your video to please a very few people. Don't. We already know there are upsetting things in these videos, like dead children!

Trigger warnings are fine in a book but they are doing them on Lifetime movies now! Stop this before it gets crazy. I'm part Choctaw so I get it! But.

@@BriefCaseOfficial The warning in this case is a bit different in meaning to what you interpreted. "Deceased persons" is a reference to Ancestors or the recently deceased. It is not a reference to a cadaver or corpse. Indigenous Australians do not lay eyes on images of those that have passed. This includes pictures from 100 years ago. Just wanted to clarify.... This is not a Woke thing. In Australia, a warning is used every time an Aboriginal actor appears in a film or on television. Also - love your work!

Hello Marion,my partner was Canadian,from Quebec.I don't understand how hoomans consider themselves civilised when they rape,steal,murder,wage wars,enjoy bloodsports,destroy habitats & still consider themselves top species on this poor planet.Will they ever come of age,I wonder.
