the animation in the 1992 version of The Addams Family cartoon looks better than The Addams Family cartoon that “we” don’t talk about, so it gets brownie points from me on that part

@@mediamementosofficial I think what you said about Wednesday and Pugsley being interesting child characters pretty much sums up why some people hate Chris Thorndyke; and that's mostly because, rather than have any impact on the story, or be attached to a character that would give levity to the story (COUGH, as a Robotnik Jr, COUGH), SEGA instead took the bad ending route and made him petty, because he wants to hang out with Sonic, rather than his family and friends who are trying to fix the issue of neglectfulness. What's worse is that SEGA made him ditch life and have him join Sonic, only to be reverting his age because of it (and it didn't help that by the end of the series, he would vanish because Eggman sent him in a pod that would have a failure in aging). Not to mention, what you said about the Normanmayers and their kid, that's what I wish Chris Thorndyke was in a Sonic cartoon that didn't involve having Mobius and Earth be separate planets: If SEGA didn't do that, Chris would've played the role of a Robotnik Jr character, in which an android son walks in his father's footsteps, but would rather be friends with the heroes.

Something that I just remembered with the kids Pugsley likes it when he gets tortured by Wednesday but Wednesday doesn’t seem to like it when Pugsley does it to her, its more like torturing him means she’s winning while getting tortured herself means she’s losing, that’s how I see it as a child, cause I just remembered now how much Wednesday doesn’t seem to be content when she’s the one getting tortured. Anyone seeing it? Edit: omg i did not know this Gomez played by the same sitcom Gomez its no wonder why I enjoyed both versions so much

The Addams Family cartoon came out in the 90s during the wake of the successful 1991 film of the same name however Gomez addams is voiced by John Astin which he is famously known for the 1964 Addams family series

I adored this series when I was younger! I distinctly remember this one episode where Thing went off and became a movie star(?) and shenanigans ensued. I think that episode stuck with me the most since you just _couldn't_ have done something like that in the original black and white show. It's such an animation-specific storyline. Looking back, I think the Normanmeyers are part of the inspiration for the Benikies in the Addams Family musical. Norman Jr. is basically just Lucas but a child. It seems likely, imo.

When I saw the two animated Addams Family movies in theaters, I went in thinking that the style reminded me of this show. The only differences I saw were the fact that Modern Wednesday was a little...too cynical, Pugsley was the one interested into explosives instead of Fester and the movies lacked a bit of the macabre elements this series had

Wednesday originally began as the least morbid of the clan. Yes, she was still prim in dress, plays with the family's in-house torture device toys, has her decapitated doll, retains an extra 6th toe on one of her feet, etc., but she was to be the sweeter between herself & her troublemaker brother Pugsley. When Christina Ricci took on the part in the two live-action films in 1991 & 1993 respectively (we don't talk about the direct-to-video 1997 TV movie that's basically a backdoor pilot for the one-season 1998 sitcom reboot), she cemented the way Wednesday Addams was to be portrayed for pretty much the rest of time, as a monotone sadist of a child-turned-sardonic goth teen icon, who evolves or devolves -- this is where your mileage may vary, concerning which way you think Wednesday should be portrayed as a character - as times change & so, the way the creepy, kooky, mysterious, and spooky clan still tries to subvert normal expectations also changes with society, too.

I agree with you - for those of us who are big fans of Charles Addams' original New Yorker cartoons, there were some surprising elements that suggested there were some very knowledgeable people that held the source material in very high regard behind this particular incarnation. For example, the character design for the woman in the fur coat at 8:14 is taken directly from one of Addams' non-Family cartoons.

My most favorite cartoon for sure, everyone is loveable, just like in the 1964 version. Especially Wednesday with her various expressions, poses, the ultimate cute girl. She embodies seriousness, cuteness, cheerfulness and love all in one, with a monotone voice as well. A happy JC Denton because she also has one liners that are quirky, she also takes of her mother's french words as well. Just speaking about her, proves how well it is, and not just for her, but for the whole family. l would say it is the right sequel for 1964, having the best balance of 1964 and 1990s dark movies. l didn't watch the 70s yet but watching the 1992, it makes me not want to go back(unless it is 1964) or forward. They don't make them like they used to be. Every IP is dying, and for what? Money, trends and agendas, perhaps a little indirect brainwashing as well. What we show, is what we are, at least for the majority. By proving and leading an example of not liking these recent abominations, perhaps they will listen. Perhaps l say because, they may have a plan they don't want to be derailed off.

6:19 - 6:55: I wanna stress that the word you're looking for is antagonist. An Antagonist is a person who opposes the Protagonist's motives, through their own personal beliefs, but it wasn't through extremely malicious intent. A Villain would be someone who has a petty behavior over wanting to get what they want, and downright wants to kill the hero. Bowser is a villain, because he's really petty about what Peach thinks who she would marry, and would actively attack the Mushroom Kingdom to force her to marry him, even if it means killing Mario, who Peach actually has romantic feelings for. I don't recall the "Normanmayer" family being villains by my definition, but then again, I don't remember them doing anything malicious outside of being SJWs.

Just like how Nevermore Academy from the Tim Burton-produced Netflix series _Wednesday_ (about the teenage Addams daughter solving strange mysteries as something like a gothic Nancy Drew whilst also trying to be her own character rather than being forever stuck in the shadow of _The Addams Family_ on the whole as a brand) is basically a grimdark version of Hogwarts.

I remember watching this as a kid, but not really liking it. The main issue for me is it's not my style of humor. The jokes come from how other people react to their strangeness, and I've never cared for that. It always made me feel awkward for sone reason, almost like I'm feeling embarrassed for the characters in the show. It's hard to explain!
