A word of warning, not all 1/16" punches are created the same! I had to purchase 3 before I found one that would fit the roll pin hole. I ended up sanding and polishing the punches down a fraction to allow them to fit the hole, believe me you don't want to get your punch that is oversized stuck in the hole or worse yet break off in the gun. Go slow and cautious. Better safe than sorry!

The basic Colt rear sight design is not bad except it has side to side slop in it. Not sure why Colt does not add .002" width to the sight body so it does not move side to side in the top strap. With that said, I've installed WC rear sights on all my Pythons and Anacondas. The WC sight fits tight in the top strap and has positive click adjustments which is a must for me. A trick I've found with the 1/16" roll punch is to chuck it in an electric drill and polish the punch with some 220 grit wet/dry paper which gives it a little more clearance through the top strap hole. Then using two 1/16" punches, install the new sight in the frame and use one punch to hold the sight in place. Then using the new roll pin supplied with the sight, start driving it in from the opposite side. As it goes in, it will start to push the punch out the other side. The good thing about this method is it holds the sight hole/roll pin in perfect alignment during installation.

I like the Elliason look of the new Wilson sight. I haven’t had any issue with my factory sight even with heavy use, but I’m still glad there are options.

Wilson Combat makes good stuff. I do like a a gold bead. I also like a U shaped rear sight, but these are the same sights that are on my King Cobra target, except the front is fiber optic, and I find them quite satisfactory. So, I will probably keep the Python just the way it came. I do like to have options however, especially from Wilson Combat.

The rear sight is great! I’m not a fan of the gold bead front sight thought. I recommend keeping your factory front sight.

Great tips! I hope your gold bead fs turns up. The last time something like that happened to me, I found it installed on another gun in my safe. A first world problem, I know... 😅

I have the Wilson Combat rear U-notch and front green fiber optic on my 4.25 inch Python. I am very happy with them.

As far as punches go, spend the extra money and get the Starrett brand.

You should try replica grips from Deer Hollow Enterprises. I put some Gen 3 Late replicas on both of my Pythons. They're so much better than stock. I would consider them mandatory. Thank you for the video, I replaced both rear sights with Wilson's upon your recommendation. Way mucho better.

I'll have to look into it. Our Python is deadly accurate, buuuuuut....not always where I want it to be. Tight groups, but at odd locations off target.

Always bothers me when gun manufactures ship their guns with crap sights, like Colt or Glock. Or no sights at all like most AR's.

Mandatory part. Sound serious. Joking aside. Don’t you think a gun that costs $1500 should have a better sight. At least one that doesn’t move or wiggle. If this revolver was made by Rock island armory I could understand that. I always wanted to own a colt python since I was a kid after watching the movie Magnum Force. Now as an adult I couldn’t afford to pay thousands of dollars for one of the originals from the 80’s, but I could settle for a 2nd Gen Python. However, I am not willing to pay $1500 and still have to swap out the rear sight with an aftermarket one and risks messing it up.
