Here is a complete guide to high blood pressure and qi gong.
qigongforvitality.com
High blood pressure is a serious problem as it can lead to heart attack or stroke.
Always consult with your doctor or primary care practitioner and follow their advice. Do not stop or start any exercise, medication, or supplement without doctor supervision.
I wanted to give you as much information about how to lower your blood pressure as possible. I strongly believe that you can lower it naturally if you add qi gong practice into your lifestyle. Perhaps you can bring your blood pressure down to normal or your own, or with the use of medication, supplements, diet, and lifestyle.

Jeff, As a long term High BP and Cardiac patient I have known what you've presented here through self study. I received very little information from my doctors, lipid clinic and nothing but requests for contributions from the AHA. This is as comprehensive as anything I've seen. As my discipline can waver, this refresher will help me stay on track. It is sure to help those newly diagnosed or lacking this needed information. Thank you so much for your very comprehensive presentation.

I love mackerel in a sandwich, and I eat them using mug or cloud bread. I love mayo on these, but I can make my own to limit salt. Sardines are too salty, but if in olive oil, they can be rinsed. I have rinsed canned soups, and added my own fresh spices, when grabbing a quick lunch. My husband eats more salt, and sugar than I do, and I recently decided to go back on keto. Love this video.

You are correct about the salt in canned sardines (and all fish). Fortunately I found Gold Seal 'no salt added in spring water' that are a great option to add your own spices to 🐟

Jeff, thank you for taking the time and effort to get people like me educated ( in plain, simple, and understandable English!) I just discovered you yesterday, and I am now a fan ! I have lots of things to do ! My biggest enemy is myself, being LAZY and not motivated. I hope that through your "encouragement", I will be able to start something towards good health ! ( My husband and I just joined a Tai Chi class which my community is sponsoring, FREE of charge to us Seniors. Hoping we can keep up!) THANK YOU SO MUCH again, and may the LORD bless you and your family !!

Hi Jeffery, thanks for all the qigong video, they are really good. I am a cardiologist and see a lot of patients with high blood pressure. It's appreciated that you give advices of life style changes. I would however suggest a more accurate classification of hypertension. Most of the people have primary hypertension, ie essential hypertension, due to aterosclerosis during our life time and the vessels get more stiffened. Stress and sleep apnea may cause hypertension too, signals from the brain will higher the tonus of the vessel, but the hypertension still considered as primary/essential. All the life style factors as you mentioned affect the stiffness and the tonus of the vessels. So we can still improve our blood pressure, even if it is primary or essential. Secondary hypertension is a very special term and only very small portion of people have secondary hypertension (5-10%), due to underlying endocrinological diseases such as tumor in the adrenal grand, stenosis of the kidney arteries, or very seldom stenosis of the aorta. They really needs a good work-up and sometimes specific medication or interventions. Of course even this kind uncommon hypertension will benefit from life style changes. And Qi Gong is a great way to do it. Keep on the good work!

Thank you so much for your comment and clarity. I absolutely agree with you! I hope I didn't misrepresent myself as being an expert in cardiovascular health. As a traditional Chinese medicine practitioner, I feel my job is to partially inform patients but mostly help motivate and empower people to take simple actions to improve their health and wellness through lifestyle. The worst situation is when people feel "what's the point-I have no control." I love western medicine for managing health and traditional medicine, including qigong and meditation, for helping with wellness. You are absolutely correct that people need great blood work, monitoring, and interventions and I would never suggest that one should skip that. But, I would humbly suggest, cardio health could also benefit from taking a big breath, moving the body, letting go of some stress, and putting on a smile - even if it's just a little bit :) Thank you again for your comment🙂

Thank you sir for this wonderful information on how I can deal with my high blood pressure. Take control like you suggested. I’m in my 50’s and started taking a prescription for it. I believe mine is secondary due to being over weight for my height and poor diet. I need to change things and have always been interested in martial arts, Eastern philosophy and medicine. Thanks for fantastic information. Cheers.

Another dish I tried out this weekend is: Sardines in Tomato Sauce with 1 onion, spring onion, kidney beans, tomato souce, Italian herbs, garlic fresh or powder, heat this up in a cooking pan with Coconut Oil and cook Jasmine Rice, Pandan or Basmati Rice in another pot. The Kidney beans are a good foundation for Chronic Fatigue/Adrenal Fatigue. It's like a good basement in your body.

Loved your video. It was very informative. I'd like to share how I manage to prepare sardines so they don't taste like sardines/fishy.....I buy them in water, rinse well, - they do contain lots of sodium. Squeeze liberally with lemon. Add chopped apple and some chopped celery (you can also add some chopped garlic if you like). I found a mayonaise made with avocado oil and just add a little....Serve either in a pitta with shredded lettuce or in a large lettuce leaf. Be creative - maybe add some ginger instead of garlic or chopped tomatoes instead of the apples. Hope this helps someone......

It's best to talk to your doctor to know what's best for you. In general, walking is great for overall health and wellness, and Qigong is very helpful for managing stress and helping qi flow smoothly. Walking is highly encouraged by most healthcare providers - including myself!

Thanks for all the information! My blood sugar/blood pressure/cholesterol has gone up. I used to eat the Sardines in a can regularly but kind of got tired of them adding to my Italian Pasta Dish. Tried out different kind of spagetthi over the years, without gluten etc.. Anyway I used the Sardines in Soya Oil since there are only three choices in the supermarkets here in the Netherlands (with Tomato Sauce or Pepper Sauce). Then of course you add fresh veggies and a tomato sauce according to your taste with Italian herbs. I used Co-Enzymes in the past, not that long though, since I find them expensive. I used Fish Oil capsules everyday (maybe not enough mg though). From listening to your advices I really want to make a change in my diet. Every week I go to Fitness once a week and feel so fatigued the next day with burning pain in my arms/hands due to Fibromyalgia symptoms. It has gotten worse over the years. I could go on and on. The human body works kind of complex to me. Anyway it's all about: Taking care of yourself!

Well, it sounds like you are making a good effort! That's the best thing we can do, just keep trying to find your "formula" and eventually you will find it. I would encourage you to be under the care of a naturopath, or natural medicine doctors. They can save you lots of time, and give you encouragement. You are on the right track, diet is #1. Give it a try, even if it is just 5 days a week. As far as exercise goes, look into "heart rate variability" and fibromyalgia. There are many good studies that show keeping the heart rate below 60% of your maximum is the best for FM. Even if you can work out harder, when you do, you can exacerbate FM symptoms for up to 3 days. Just stick to you same routine, but try using a heart rate monitor to make sure you aren't over doing it. Keep going!!
