In this video I show you a special device made using a Sherline mill machine in order to do an adaptation of a new Crown in a japonese Shimano pedal crank.
The new Crown is more thick in the screw location hole, so will need the a reduce of thick because the original screw shorter.
The device will permit a perfect center and a safe machining interpolation.
Device material - 6351 aluminum
Crown of bike - 7075 aluminum alloy (another video)
End mill - Tungstain carbide steel - 6 MM
Threads cutter tool - 3.9 mm carbide steel made by myself ( broken drill)
RPM - 10 K
Cutting fluid.- kerosene 80% mineral oil 20%
More detail - Facebook - at Tryally Tech page.

Abraco...

Wow, I got a Sherline CNC (5400) mill but no idea that a bit existed to do those threads like that? And how are you not having to set zero when you change bits? Wow.
@tryally
@tryally 6 жыл бұрын
Thank you Smith. In the truth, and in this specific case don't need to set zero, it is a simple program made using the Mach3 wizard, was a good idea I had and works very well, I make separated wizard programs, and after I save one, two or three program together in single G code program. it is simple and fast when the machine have not reference home, so it is great to complex program by a really very simple way. @tryally 4 жыл бұрын
Hello William, So I like these machine, I have using it for long time in my house to develop my things in a lot of material types, like steel, 7075 aluminum alloy, titanium, iron, brass etc.. Some parts inevitably wear out after so much high performance, is not an industrial machine, but I think have regarding cost-benefit good results. And the maintenance is not so expensive. As always, I recommend a good lubrication for a useful with long lifetime. An important info to all user like you is these machines are for small and mid parts but any material. Look here, more about these machine and my work, photos, ideas, accessories, micro-tools etc.. facebook.com/tryallytech?fref=ts You are welcome!

maximum how much depth per pass we can give in brass?
@tryally
@tryally 5 жыл бұрын
@@rwagh So depends on some factors, rpm, tools material, feed rate etc.. But in general you can remove a deal of material considering the size of machine, in Brass per example sometimes I removed into 2 mm per step, but normally is 0.50 to 1 mm. I particularly like to work with 10K rpm in order to get higher metal removal as aluminum or brass
