I'll never forget Sergey's interview about The War Z/Infestation. The Steam page had a list of features that were supposed to be in the game. Almost none of them were actually in, those that were were incomplete and unusable. Naturally, people rightly declared false advertising. This, on top of rampant hackers killing people from across the map, and respawn timers lasting *hours* unless you paid to reduce the time, resulted in massive outrage. Sergey's view on this was it was the customer's fault for buying the game, he was in no way at fault. In fact, any insinuation that he was remotely responsible enraged him.

When someone told me this dude was involved with Big Rigs I couldn't have been less surprised

It's pretty funny you mention your KZfaq career getting boosted by covering Sergey Titov's WarZ. I was one of them new subscribers back in the day. I really liked the way you cover games and I still do. Now, that was like back in 2013 to 2014 iirc. And in the meantime, I've graduated from a college, finished my military service, moved out, got a job. And seeing the very same guy using the very same name, and his shitty engine still putting out shitty games with shady business tactics kind of made me respect him. I mean, it's shitty but damn, talking about consistency am I right? It's been half a decade and wow, it's amazing to see how fucking consistent this guy is. That being said, thank you so much for covering all these early access games so that we can know how shady and corrupt these fuckers are. Seriously, your service to the community means a lot. warz back in the beginning( when it was warz) before hacks became rampant was honestly a great game for its time. no bullshit perks, one shot to the head almost one shot people, snipers were extremely rare as well as other weapons.

Back in the day when I was in the dayz hype, I bought their sheriff edition (the most expensive) from Warz before launch. Game launch months later, all fine, and all of the sudden a bunch of cheaters make the game unplayable, I go to the forums and to my surprise zero mentions to cheaters. So I start a thread, that was deleted 10 min later, followed to a very meanacing email from the adms, saying that if I post something mentioning cheaters again, I would be banned for life. So I find a sucker to pay me full price for my account and they never saw a dollar from me again. Most amazing?

I got some interesting stories about WarZ / Sergey needa tell you sometime, I was pretty close with Sergey for awhile he's well connected with a lot of people with money. I mean does anyone recall the Infestation x Redbull collab?!

So I was just about to do a review video of this game for my channel after being offered an access token (key). After seeing this video I will boycott that bad boy. Most honest review I have seen!

Honestly when warz first started the game was actually good! All they had to do was fix stuff and literally make improvements on certain mechanics, systems and fix the cheating problem. But alas, they went off the deep end and ran the game in the ground, at least infestation the new z based off of the The NewZ game made it better than what it was.

Maybe they learned something because they update New Frontier still and add content which has a surprising playerbase still

Got an update on this one for you. They had the game live for around 20 days and then locked it and sold the game to another company. Then they said “Fck you guys” and deleted the discord.

I think they actually used their own crappy engine that was originally for War Inc Battlezone. The engine was named "Eclipse". And it was used to quickly make WarZ as soon as DayZ was taking off and bringing the spotlight down on zombie survival open world games. The games they made afterward were probably using NightShade engine...Which if I had to bet, is just a modified Eclipse engine that was renamed. I say this as someone who once tried creating my own WarZ emulator with the Eclipse engine/source code leak.

Am I the only one who kind of misses thewarz/shattered skies. I first played the warz when I was 14 and loved the movement and pvp, I eventually stopped playing and was excited when Shattered skies came out in 2017. I bought the game knowing it would be a "scam" and it would die after a few months and I still got 150 hours out of it. A lot of people played the game even in australia, its a shame that they just abandon their games instead of actually making them better and updating them.

New Z was not on nightshade engine and the Fredakis devs improved on the old War Z game a ton (testiment to what passionate devs can do). It was great for a free game. I agree Shattered Skies and Wild West Online both cash grabs and abandoned..
