I absolutely love survival games. I absolutely love walking simulators. I've never seen a game in either one of those genres so devoid of content as this. In survival games you have to gather supplies, build a base, etc. Not just hang out for half an hour. In walking simulators, you(hopefully) have a really good story. You interact with the environment. The most you look around and pay attention to datails, the more the world is built. I really couldn't be bothered to spend time on this. An open desert has no real purpose to it.

During skepticism period, many got banned - I as well. I'm studying Game Dev full-time and offered Jao my help, he neither accepted nor declined, there was no response, and I was banned! Very friendly dev team. :))))

Ehh, not surprising. With early access games like this you'll always have a horde of brainless consumers desperately trying to defend their shitty purchase. The fact that their Kickstarter ended in October and they're already putting it up for purchase just goes to show that these devs are most likely just after the money, just like the RAW devs and countless others. When will these people learn?

Future isn't looking good for this game. People say its early access and thats why its like this. But really? I've seen tons of survival games in early access that had more to do than this game does. Eating, drinking, fighting, chopping wood, building some sort of shelter, actual enemies, so many other things in an early access game that this game DOESN'T have. And this game is twenty dollars? Waste of money. This game is NOT worth twenty dollars. I am a frugal person on a good day. I am not willing to spend 45.00 on just ONE item, that doesn't even look like its worth that much. But twenty bucks for a game thats just placeholders and shit? Where you can't even do anything, when other survival games are far ahead of such game in that they have many more things to do even in Early Access. Even with just ONE person making the game. I've seen games that a *single* person made, by themselves, that are ten times better than this during early access. This isn't even subpar, its below that at this point. Not trying to garner hate. For those of you that like and support it but only want to hate on those who have something to say about this game, fine. Go ahead. But if the game goes down the drain, don't be upset. in Australia if a steam pages advertisers something and it isnt in the game it goes against the consumer rights concision laws so technically steam can be sued for false advertising

Hi, Kickstarter backer here Don't worry I'm not here to bash this video but more so support it! Alpha state does not equal early Access, let me make that clear. All you can do is talk and fly. You spend most of your time afk asleep to grow. That isn't playability. That's just a social sim. Drinking and eating? That's not the tip of the iceberg with a survival game. I paid for the Kickstarter and I didn't realize that this is being sold as it's current state right now. I'm not going to defend something simply because I paid for it. You can't try to sell a product for 20 bucks that is not yours. That is unacceptable, the only original content in the game is the main menu sound track. To have a project qualify as a game you need fully functional sound and the planned mechanics implement in their finished state. Nor do you use unoriginal assets either. I've seen the models that are planned to be put in yet they are not in yet. You do NOT put an early Access blue print project on sale as a game when it's not. That's not early Access, again it's a blue print project in it's super early stages for alpha. This is basics for the gaming industry and to try and sell this and hide behind the early Access tag is shameful. There is no ai, map is empty and no other places to explore, nothing to find. If I want to look at a desert, that's what Google is for. No making a game isn't easy but this ain't it either chief. That's just a small fraction I have to say. I see the game going places, I do play the isle on occasion as well and while it may not be the best game out there for creature survival. It should be a decent inspiration for this game which I say lightly because this is absolutely not a game right now. They asked for 12 grand but when that was reached, they kept putting in more milestones and rewards to build incentive. The money was flowing in, they knew what they were doing there too. I chose to support it in the Kickstarter and I don't have any regrets about it. If it's a scam truly then money lost, that'll get replaced no problem. But I'm not going to be a flock of the sheep about how unprofessional this whole entire thing has been. Anyways that's just my wordy piece.

Happened to come across your video. They certainly have a lot of nothing in the game right now and have a lot of drama surrounding them as well. I am the mod that had been thrown out and banned from DoD that Jao mentions in the reviews, his discord and IGP slightly mentioned. Unfortunate that there is a lot drama and a lot of so far empty promises towards the community. A lot of what Jao says about it is made up but I know a lot of people are concerned about where the game is gonna go. As of right now, there isn't much of a game at all. I personally don't care so much about the game, but rather how he treats his community regarding his dev status and his game. Hopefully the backlash against your video won't be too bad. I have seen school projects that have more feature complete than this game, the game is only at it's conceptual stage, I haven't played it but I have seen enough of it to know it's years away from being something that can be enjoyed. If this game was an Alpha, the gameplay features would be there, the game could be broken and have many crashes for sure, a good example of this is Fallout 76 right now, that's what I would compare to an alpha, it's broken, the gameplay features are there and the game is incomplete but there is enough there to call it a game even if it's an awful game, however Day of Dragons is not a game, it's just a concept

Early access is a system meant for titles close to market or that have most of the premise in place. Not things that are glorified tech demos where “everything is a placeholder”

The Isle isn't like what it was in 2015 anymore. It's come a long way now and still developing more features with better maps and more dinos to play. They sometimes hold special events on certain servers for their players. They have a better stat screen, a body decay/gore system, you can use scent, day & night cycle with night vision, you can nest in players and so on. Just make sure you read the rules first when joining any server so you don't get in trouble for rule breaking.

People calling Star Citizen a glorified tech demo clearly don't know how little money goes into the _Demo_ and how much goes into the _Tech_ in a Tech Demo...putting the same amount of money into _both_ makes it a _GAME._ Star Citizen's is at least moving to being a game, not running a KS with flipped assets to poof off the face of the planet when it completes.

A few other things to consider, there has been no mention of a storyline, so single player sounds pointless unless you just wanna run around and get eaten by the "promised" AI monsters at some point. No quests or pve friendly servers from how it sounds. I get it's survival but sounds so bland. No special quests to branch off to another dragon tree like Monster Hunter does with weapons. Have specialized attacks depending on your tree. I would have that kind of stuff in the Early Access to figure out what needed to be tweaked and improved for more enjoyable access. Even if it was just a few trees, would make it worth while like The Forest, you at least got to upgrade certain items so increase damage etc as you progressed. I may not have been in the gaming industry but I enough friends whom are concept artists, coders and video game artists who have said 500k should have gotten him along far enough to make a small but fleshed out game that he can expand and there's no pressure folding off on putting it to EA until you have actual time consuming assets like that. Jao's just giving himself more pressure and if he falls under the pressure, he cheated people of that money and lost total trust where another chance to kickstart/fund a game of any sort will not happen. I know people will say he's only had 2 months to work on the game but he should have held off making it early access and should have held off with even starting funding till he had a base of the game set up on his own. I've funded enough products where they had actual prototypes or all the artwork was done and ready to be printed etc and the people just put their time towards ensuring it was worth it. I was one of the first Alpha players for The Forest and they had a decent bit of stuff to keep us preoccupied already but they also kept us properly updated beforehand when it was closed beta then open, yes bugs and loads of things were added over the years but it was to have us pass the time more before completing the game, the enemies were basic looking but are now more detailed, same with animals and the character randomizing. Sorry I'm just going on but there are so many things he didn't think about and should have gone to someone with experience first.

Me thinks it sounds like a slight money grab, since you know that the people from kickerstarter bought perks. Funny thing, it also costs more than the isle right now. XD Also when the isle started out on steam, it actually wasn't broken. Sure it had some store bought assets, but it was relatively better than what we're getting from DoD as of now.

And people harp on the isle, yet at least all that stuff is theirs and theirs alone! And it has lore! Unique mechanics! Stuff to do!

I feel like the concept of a dragon survival game is pretty boring in the first place. Unless the devs went with a single player spore-like route, or maybe somehow had a dragon crafting/base/resource system in place (but let’s be real that’s never going to happen) then maybe there would be some sort of gameplay loop. Instead its wait half an hour to grow big and fly, enjoy shitty pvp, and then die. Might as well just be a slow, janky, dragon BR.

The game is literally the same as it was two months ago at the end of the kickstarter. I thought that they would at least have their map set up with the biomes they kept talking about, but there was nothing. I actually just sat there for 45-50 minutes waiting to be able to fly. I left the game after 15-20 minutes of fly and finding nothing interesting (Pookie was fun to mess around with for two minutes). There is no gameplay unless you're messing around with friends but that also isn't gameplay; that is you just having fun because of friends. Anthomnia stated something like that too: the game was only fun because of his friends. I was able to get my money back because I purchased it through steam which was great because I can start seeking an actual game to play. I really wanted this game to succeed, and I chose to believe in it's development crew and Jao even after the IGP drama, but, like most of the community, I am disappointed.

Careful man, the community of this game aren't... The nicest.. To put it simply. They tried to witchunt IGP, and attack anyone who critiques the game and the devs. Hell Anthomnia got an email from one of the discord members talking about his dog, saying how and I quote "It'd be a shame if someone broke into his house and gutted him."

Valve doesn't just get a fee from the listing. They get money from each purchase of games as well. This is why they are perfectly fine letting people peddle garbage on their store.

It's been 3 years, and it's probably still in early access and looks as well put together as a preschooler's art project.

When i play an early access game, I expect to have a tleast 80% of the game completed not 5% I don't trust DOD, never have its always given me a weird feeling when every its spoken about. Its horrid. it may just be me for when i studied at university for concept art and got a good insight of the Games and Film industry from it, though so far this does not sound like a game developer to me. The game SHOULD NOT HAVE PLACE HOLDERS THIS EARLY! let alone placeholders that are not their own. i can understand if the place holders were made by them but they arn't/

I saw this on kickstarter 10h or so before the deathline and was seriously thinking about backing it but 10h were not enough for me to do my usual Background checks and giving me the time to carefully think about really making that purchase and I'm genuinly happy I missed out on that.

When you are mentioning placeholder assets it doesn't necessarily mean that they are MARKETPLACE assets, those could be assets made by a studio in it's rough shape as a placeholder, in order to not waste time and focus on the core, to be switched for a higher quality later in the pipeline. Just little things that caught my eye since you mentioned that multiple times

I think the concept of being a dragon in a survival game would be dope. I imagined a game where I could choose to play online, or solo play where I could play a survival mode against AI. I imagined there would be dinosaurs, giant bugs, mountains, various landscape, and all kinds of shit that can kill you. However, this right here is a dramatic let down.

I haven’t watched the vid yet, but these assets are just placeholders. They’ve already released images of the custom models they’ve been working on, and even have custom sounds for them that were from what I’ve heard created by someone who created the sounds for subnautica.
