Anytime you have a 3 piece Rock Band, each musician is usually carrying a lot of weight! And it has produced some great Bass players! Dusty Hill,..Jack Bruce,..Getty Lee, etc.

*THIS* is why us old farts wanted you to hear ZZ's "Pre-pop" era. Legs and Sharp dressed man (although, mainstream "hits") were popular and fun, but as a musician, you can definitely notice their early Blues/Funk groove that eventually fell to the wayside as a trade-off for MTV airtime and a younger 80's techno-audience. Lovin' the rabbit-hole, Cash. These guys are the real deal disquised as three normal dudes. The good news is that Billy, Dusty, and Frank seemed to get their IDGAF attitude back as of late... I've seen some INCREDIBLE live work done by them within the last few years, so the patience paid off. =)

@Roger Edgerton - "Popular " and "Fun" equates to "Numbers" and a "subjective opinion"... Some of my favorite albums, Tres Hombres, Fandango, and Tejas only peaked at #8, #10 and #17 respectively on the top 100 charts whereas the Fuzzy Guitar era’s Eliminator, Recycler, and Afterburner came in at #9, #6, and #4. No-one said it wasn’t mindless, and unfortunately, crapshite has very little effect on popularity. 90% of today’s “artists” would be out of a job if that were the case. I guess we should be thankful that we don't have to budget a ton of cash for new albums to add to the playlists... Yeah... There's always that. :-l

@@_Common_Logic_ LOL. When these guys first came out i was 12. Couldn't drink to much but did go to my first bar at this age in se Houston. Different era. Feel kinda sorry for the youngsters now a days but I'm sure they are doing things on the computer I wish I could do but when they are my age and I'm sure they will have the same attitude I have now. People throughout history look back on their youth and think the new generation is missing out on something. Lol. Time marches on and waits for nobody. Peace

ZZ Top is a great rabbit hole to hop down Scribe! "Pearl Necklace" and "Cheap Sunglasses" are smooth funk like this, but this trio has some hard rock hits and ballads that are classics that are eternal fire!

Degüello! 1979! ZZ Top's cover of the Sam & Dave classic "I Thank You" kicks it off. It's hard and gritty with one of the meanest guitar tones you'll ever hear. That album rounds out the trip with "Cheap Sunglasses", another banger that'll make you want to get a pick-up truck.

There is a documentary on Netflix about ZZ-Top, it's very good. Texas Blues Rock is the way they roll - "The Three Wise Men from Texas". Pick-up truck?? Nah, you will want the Eliminator! It is featured in several ZZ-Top videos.

Oh, YES! You just discovered the Texas blues/rock of ZZ Top. Woohooo....gotta let the cousins know our little girl has discovered this band! All Riiiight....We gotta parade our little girl around for discovering this one! Hell...we're in Southside Virginia...a long ways from Texas, but we have the same level of soul. Sending so much love from Southside Virginia to Cali....and straight to our little girl. Yep, the pickup is a requirement.

You could throw darts at the back cover of ZZ Top's Tres Hombres album and not hit a bad song. Just know "Waitin' For The Bus" and "Jesus Just Left Chicago" must be played back-to-back and in that order - it's the law.

If you don't have the album, download it. The whole thing is incredible. I have the 1979 original vinyl copy still in great shape. The sound quality is incredible too. I play in a group that just learned this song and the crucial parts are the when the bass stops and the guitar and drums play tightly together. Thanks for your reaction.

This is my favorite ZZ-top song! 😁 Love that whole album - titled "Degüello". Heard it when I was a teenager, though it was about a decade old even then. (It was released in 1979)
