There are 4 very important parts in a motor vehicle to be cleaned to keep it running properly. The first is the throttle body which should be cleaned every 60 to 90k miles, Second is the engine air filter which should be cleaned every 5 - 10k miles and this should be replaced every 30k miles. Third is the mass airflow sensor which should be cleaned at the time of replacing the engine air filter which should be changed every 30k miles. Fourth and finally is the fuel injectors which should be cleaned every 60 - 90k miles.

Your videos are amazing. It’s already helped me with doing my front brakes and rotors ( back brakes and rotors were done 6000 miles earlier ) as well as two other projects. I inspected my cabin air filter a few weeks ago. A week later I tried to open the rear door. Two beeps and nothing. I had already confirmed the rear glass was closed properly. I phoned the dealership and was told I needed new struts ($$$$$$). I looked at about 4 or 5 KZfaq videos before watching yours. 4 steps if your rear power hatch won’t open. Your step number 2 fixed it as I had accidentally pushed the black button on the glovebox frame. Thank you so much.

Another great video. I noticed in your comments that you drive this vehicle for gig work. I also drive Uber, Amazon Flex, etc. with my 2017 Highlander Hybrid. This vehicle, in my opinion, is the absolute best choice for such work. Knowing how to perform your own maintenance is key to success in the gig economy, so your videos are amazingly helpful. Thanks for your work!

Any idea after cleaning the throttle body and maf sensor.. I have a humming sound directly at the intake manifold and tried resetting the ecu. Humming is directly from intake manifold with my hands on it
@trackpalmer
@trackpalmer 6 ай бұрын
That sounds like air issue. Check your air filter or check for vacuum leak.

My avensis kept the idle 400-500 rpms higher then it should be after cleaning even after a 3 hour drive so had to disconnect battery for 30 mins to reset ecu which did the trick now idles perfect

@condor5635
@condor5635 Жыл бұрын
@@ferndog1461 - probably 70k or so. That’s when my 2016 needed it’s first set. Depends too on how you drive it obviously. Lots of idiots that just constantly brake all the time. Do yourself a favor and learn throttle control. When you drive see how long you can go by just using the throttle and not the brakes. You will notice the dumb drivers that go by you with 8-10 brake applications to your none

yes, but be careful -- mine is a 2013 Highlander and when I was disconnecting the sensor, it broke right off the sensor and connector. Now I gotta buy a new one but found an OEM on line. And if you disconnect the battery, you may also loose connection for your automatic car starter. I have one installed when new and every time you disconnect the battery, you loose the darn ability to use remote starter. Now, you gotta go back to place that installed the remote starter and have them "reprogram" the darn unit so you can start car remotely. Cost is $25.00 too... dang it... My Highlander is great though and this is remote starter is a bummer and wish I had known that before I got this one installed. You would think there would be a small back up battery that would hold settings while you disconnect the battery or have a dead battery. This happened about 2 years ago when my OEM battery needed replacing... Now I 've had the remote starter reprogrammed 2x for $25.00 each time -- a big rip off...
@trackpalmer
@trackpalmer 2 жыл бұрын
That's a disappointment. However, you can save that money by reprogramming the remote starter yourself. The problem is to remove the Lower dashboard each time. That's a 5 minutes job though. I backup battery would have solved this issue.
@MICHIGANMIKE12
@MICHIGANMIKE12 2 жыл бұрын
@@trackpalmer yes indeed..removing lower dash unit only takes 5 minutes? Really? Then you got squeeks and rattles you never had before.. I'D like to see a video of that..to save me and others some $$$. There are NO remote starters out on market that have this battery back up feature.. did some research and came up empty handed...new invention? Save me time and $$$...

You should not move the flapper by hand as it may cause issues with the positioning sensor. It needs to be done by turning turning the key into an On position and your help pushing on the throttle which will open the butterfly valve.

I don’t agree with your assessment. I’ve cleaned many of these on Toyotas by moving the throttlebody by hand gently putting in a screwdriver handle to keep it open while cleaning it. I would never turn on the ignition while doing this job. Never had an issue with the car not relearning any small idle changes after cleaning.

@@TheCaioKyleBragaRead it again he never said turn on the car he simply said turn your keys to on position and press the gas pedal it could be done by a ply bar pressed by your seat forward and flap will be opened once done simple take off the ply bar and turn off the switch. I hope it helps 😊
