Sting getting kicked out of the Horsemen is like the same way the Giant was kicked out of the NWO. They were still members when they challenged their leader for the world title.

I have to agree, if Tully came out and joined in the attack, it would have been complete.

Ole: "We're going to spare your life." How can this man be bitter toward Ric Flair these days? If you think about it, if it wasn't for the Nature Boy, Ole would be doing 25 to life! :)

Christian Hollister-Supposedly this whole angle was set up so that Sting could beat Ric Flair at Wrestle War 90 for the NWA world title. The cage match that night of course changed all the plans due to the legitimate knee injury Sting suffered. And IIRC Flair was still handling booking right around this time/

Thats how they explained the injury in storyline. It added heat to Flair and the Horseman. The real inury was when Sting climbed the cage the 2nd time.
@dennissmith580715 жыл бұрын
Sting is out of place in the Horseman.
@LenGott834515 жыл бұрын
Actually, the Evolution/Orton thing was loosely taken from this. Sting was a longtime nemesis of Flair for years and was finally granted passage into the most elite group in the sport. However, Sting did the one thing no Horseman ever did and that's go after Flair's World Title. Orton, won the title that was thought to be Triple H's. The title remained in Evolution but Triple H thought it was his to have, not Orton's. That's where the problem arose, much like with Sting.

@JackReeve -This was before that happened. The whole "Dudes with Attitudes" was that summer or summer of 1990. This was in February of 1990. This card occured(I believe) on 2-6-90) and was promoting Wrestlewar 90 which we are comming up on the anniversary of since that was 2-25-90.
@paulsonj7212 жыл бұрын
And it was leading up to a scheduled title match and a supposed title change at WestleWar 90 at the end of February but all plans were thrown into turmoil due to the real life knee injury suffered by Sting on this night.

This was supposed to lead to Sting winning the world title at the next pay per view. Unfortunately, later that night he messed his knee up climbing the cage and was out for six months. As a result of that knee injury Sting's career was curtailed.
@GambitUz14 жыл бұрын
@xhemexx actually when he was supposed to go back to wcw from wwe he walked into the arena and found out they were doing drug test and thus 24 hrs prior he had done cocaine. so thus he would have never been welcomed back.

You could tell Ole was running WCW just by this segment. They let him talk the whole time and he sucked at doing promos. Arn and Ric were legendary on promos and could have made this segment much more interesting if they spoke, but OLE was running the show so he made himself talk.

I think Dusty was the Booker from 1984-1988. I think Flair was the Booker for 1989-1990.

@Cavillier197015 жыл бұрын
Yeah Sting was and it was a way to make the Horsemen faces, sort of until Sting made his run for Flairs title. Which put the Horsemen back to what they did best. It didnt really, but back then Terry Funk, Great Muta and Dragon Master w/ Gary Hart were going after Flair and Sting aided Flair, which led to Halloween Havoc, where Ole came back. Then the Horsemen were refomed. But then they had Sid Vicious and Roma come in which was a total f-ing disaster, and Jarret was never a Horsemen.

@chrishollister8011 жыл бұрын
I agree. You can even look at the expressions on Arn's and Ric's faces. It was as if they knew they eff'd up the whole angle (well Ole did anyway) and that they just wanted the angle to turn and have Sting out asap. The Horsemen as faces during this time made no sense. The Horsemen as faces in the 90s? Maybe. But this was stupid beyond repair. Sure, Tully got busted for sniffing coke, but it couldn't be as worse was what others were doing. Shouldn't have had Sting in it to begin with.
@ronaldshank75895 жыл бұрын
That's right! Flair only had Sting in the 4 Horsemen for 2 reasons: Gratitude, and fear. Gratitude for helping Flair out in the war between Flair and Funk. Funk brought in The Great Muta to help him defeat Flair, then suddenly Sting came in, and helped Flair beat Funk and The Great Muta. Then, Sting ended up joining the 4 Horsemen. That leads us to the second word:fear. Flair thought that by having Sting in the 4 Horsemen, that would keep Sting from being able to challenge Flair for the WCW World Championship Belt. Wrong! Sting won the chance to challenge Flair for the championship, and when Flair saw that happen, the writing was on the wall. Sting had to go. Flair feared that Sting would win the championship. When Sting wouldn't back down, he was kicked out of the 4 Horsemen. Pure and simple.

This was one of the great storylines in the History of the NWA. Ric Flair actually was the Chief Booker for the NWA, whch means he put together the storyline with Ricky Steamboat, Terry Funk and all of this. You also had three of the greatest promo guys in the history of wrestling: Ric Flair, Ole Anderson and Arn Anderson.

I'm in the minority on something, I actually liked the idea of Sting being in the Horsemen. It was probably the only time the Horsemen worked as babyfaces. Can't say the same thing for when Roma or Mongo were Horsemen.
@mrsain196 жыл бұрын
John Fenner nwo years they worked as faces as well.
@johnissoevil6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, but they weren't as effective as the Flair/Anderson's/Sting version.
@mrsain196 жыл бұрын
John Fenner mehh, debatable. But point was, they've worked face more than once. For my taste I can only deal with the horsemen working face, in small spurts. The money for them is for sure working as the dirty heels.
@ronaldshank75895 жыл бұрын
