It occurred to me there are several things I've started using/doing that have significantly reduced the amount of time it takes me to make my parrot's food every 3/4 months. This is a quick video explaining what I use and why. You can find BirdTricks chop recipes (seasonal feeding system) in their cookbooks in the affiliate link below, and you can find the kitchen items I use at the Amazon affiliate link below! Thanks for watching!

Love the pasta with veggie trick! Gotta do that next time. Same goes for light foods like kale, put a couple heavy things like carrots to push it around. I also put all my chopped veggies on paper towels to dry out even more.

I use paper towels too, mostly with leafy greens. It starts to waste a lot of them if I were to dry everything that way. And yes I do that with heavier foods on top in the food processor also!

PERFECT! I’m doing my maiden voyage tomorrow. I own an insta pot that I’ve NEVER USED! So I’m totally stoked! I bought in two years ago with intent of making some different lean and green meals, that friends have raved about. Guess I didn’t want to try them that bad, huh?!?!😜 I almost gave it to a friend a couple months ago….. it was meant to beeeeee💚🦜 I have to say that I ADORE your very helpful details! My friends call me “ the domestic goddess”, BECAUSE I love nothing more than sharing my down right, freaking helpful hints with EVERYONE! So, I can’t thank u enough for your help! I WILL return for MORE parrot “hacks”🤣☺️

Yay!! Saturday morning coffee, with a new BFF video. I literally made chop yesterday, I wish I’d known the pasta idea, won’t forget that one, Thankyou. The Esky (Cooler) idea, never ever would I have thought of that, you are brilliant, not that I need to do that with my 1 bird. Had to laugh after we saw your little one going off with the cooler, then you tell us about how it keeps her out of the bird food. 😄 As always entertaining and very informative, THANKYOU!! Take care.

I just laughed out loud - NOT brilliant just randomly though of it and I think Jamie with BT occasionally does it also. And yes 😂 my child always wants to “help” I love involving her when I can!! Hope your coffee was warm 🤗

@@bestflockingfriends Now that you mention it, Jamie (BT) with an esky is ringing a bell, we’ll just say, “great minds think alike” 😉 Might be pushing my luck, and sorry if I am. I was watching your vid,. of changing Sam’s perches after Vet visit for his feet, I was wondering if you could show us how you make your rope perches? This might sound dumb question, but they look great for birds, and make cage look so much more entertaining for them. Hard to believe I do Craft and activity days with our Senior community for a job, I swear I haven’t got a crafty bone in my body, think they just turn up for the laughs. 🤪 Know your busy, and just a request, all good if you haven’t the time, totally understand. Take care. 🙂

That’s great! I’m sure they really value the time you spend with them! And I did a cage video I’ll have to find it, where I put together the ropes in their cages.

@@bestflockingfriends To start off with there are things on the list I’ve never made for myself so some time is spent researching how much to cook to yield the amounts in the cook book! And pea greens?! Like where on earth am I going to find those! Lol!!
@bestflockingfriends
@bestflockingfriends 3 жыл бұрын
Some things I’ve never located! Pea greens is one. I tried multiple stores in my area (always requires going out of my way bc I shop at Walmart for myself) and have a hard time finding certain sprouts and mustard greens also. Then I will randomly find them! I sometimes Google the plant and read about it and try to find something similar.

Great job with wonderful tips! I don't have an instant pot but I only have 1 parrot and 1 buddie... so my recipe wasn't too bad... I did purchase the strainer after watching your other video so I was set there but I did pick up a few more good tips from this video that I will use next time. 😉

Thanks!! Glad they helped you out. I realized when I was making everything one day I hadn’t soaked my beans overnight I completely forgot 😭 and it was instant pot to save the day!! I’ve been using it ever since!

LOL That’s literally what I meant!! I’ve heard stories about people also eating hot food then... you can use your imagination after that. Moral of the story: PEPPERS ARE NO JOKE USE GLOVES 🤣

I have another instant pot/air fryer it’s a ninja! I briefly had a ninja blender in my past but wasn’t happy with the pulp it left behind when making smoothies so I returned it.

Serious question: do you live close to neighbors? Even though I will be in a house, I would love a sun conure but I know they are LOUD. Do you get lots of complaints from neighbors? Also, while my family is not really keen on the idea, they are allowing me to get a bird (yay!). How frequently would an untrained sun conjures be loud (like minutes, hours etc)? I know this can vary by a lot of things but I’m talking in general
@bestflockingfriends
@bestflockingfriends 3 жыл бұрын
Nobody has complained to me. My neighbors are REALLY nice however and I don’t leave my birds outside 24/7 so they get a break 🤣 suns tend to be loud when there is a threat in the area or a stranger, or something/someone they don’t recognize. Providing midday snacks and toys they can destroy helps a LOT!! Also, spending time with them. Unless they’re truly wild, but I’m sure they’d start to enjoy your company.

wait... birds can have pasta? should they have it in their regular diet? what kind are they supposed to eat and what brand/type do you feed? great video I love the tricks! hopefully getting a parrot in about 8 months so I'm doing my research and you help a lot with that! love u!
@bestflockingfriends
@bestflockingfriends 3 жыл бұрын
Yep! Yep! We use whole grain, but regular or wheat is fine too! Not a lot, I follow the guide in BirdTricks seasonal feeding recipe accompanied with a cold pressed pellet. Stay away from colored pellets and a seed diet! A chop veggie/grain/legume mix is a great addition to the cold pressed pellet (birdtricks/tops/Harrison’s all have great pellets available that are healthy and optimal for the best diet). I have a few videos on this subject!
@BirdTricks
@BirdTricks 3 жыл бұрын
We mostly use pasta as an incentive or to entice the birds into the main diet so it is something you can phase out as your bird gets better about eating the recipe as a whole. For my own flock I don’t include pasta anymore and I only add beans every other time but those are great foods to encourage healthy eating of the whole recipe. Also Alicia, Harrison’s doesn’t make a cold pressed pellet, their pellets are all baked so heat is added 😘

Well I learn new things every day. I had no idea, I have only heard of Harrison’s and just assumed because people speak so highly. That’s disappointing.
