Good review, Wilson. I think I traded you that tin, if memory serves. That was pretty much my first impression of the blend. I really enjoyed it at one point, and then I think my palette swerved against orientals and it became too distinct in that blend for me. And all that isn't to knock the blend at all. The quality is there for sure. And its funny because I think there are other blends more involving orientals that I do enjoy. Anyway, the palette is a weird thing, but I am glad you're enjoying it. Love and prayers to you and your family!

Thanks brother and to your family as well! And I forgot you sent me that tin. Thanks again! It has been a great blend.

I’m smoking my second bow of the Maltese and I’m loving it! I’m more of a virginia/perique guy, so I must say that I’m really surprised to enjoy so much an english blend. And you helped me with your review: I think you nailed it saying that the secret spice is ginger. Nice review. Thank you!

Really nice job on this review, Thanks. This blend has been in and out of my cart so many times and I've yet to pull the trigger on it. I think it will make it into my cart next time. Stay safe and enjoy your pipes my friend.

Fantastic chat on this blend. I have smoked this in many of my pipes but it smokes better in my Longchamp billiards. It’s also with these pipes where I pick up the ginger you mentioned. Great review, Wilson, and I appreciate the mention.👍🏻

Tried this when I first started smoking a pipe 4 years ago based on Mutton Chop's listing as one of his 'go-to's/top blends. I like most English's. Haven't returned to it in a while but will jump back in to it. Thanks Wilson!

If you like English blends try GL Pease Blackpoint a complex blend of bright Virginas, laticia, sweet orientals and a little touch of perique. This a great blend and my favorite English.

As a new pipe smoker I've been devouring all the content I can get ahold of, so thanks for all the reviews and suggestions. As a fan of classic films (thanks Dad) Bogart films in particular, as well as being the child of Maltese immigrants, I'm likely to try this one just based on the name alone.

A Great review Wilson. Thanks. I've had this blend on my "list to buy" but have not done so yet. I really like several GL Pease blends, so what's stopping me? Nothing but inertia I guess, well, I'm going to Pipe Nook and order some right now!!! Take care

just got a tin in & began smoking it yesterday -- the fascinating thing about most all of the GLP blends i've tried (Old London & Heirloom Series mostly) is -- they're complex IF you want them to be ... meaning, if you want to take the time to really "nuance" the tobacco, they deliver; if you want a great, well-behaved smoke, they deliver that, too ... the complexity doesn't distract from the smoking experience ... cadence & pipe selection can make a pretty big difference in the experience, as well ... cobs/meers seem to bring out a lot more of the orientals (to me) ... IMO GLP blends some of the best tobacco's available now

@@TheSpurgeonPiper i'm finding w/MF that the VA's are a bit too strident right now (for my palate) - so I've tossed it in my cellar to age & will revisit it in a month or so

Good evening Good Sir: Good review on the GLP’s Maltese Falcon, detailed and informative. I like that you give some comparisons. I have smoked a few tins of this and concur with your thoughts. Also, I am looking forward to trying Chelsea Morning, a blend you seem to mention a few times. By the way you mentioned the pipe you smoked in this video, I believe you said a Celtic 16 but I could not find that in Rattrays collection. Possibly it’s a discontinued product, but they had one that looks similar called the “Rattray's Triskele 16”; it was smooth which is OK but I was definitely interested in the larger bowl of which you commented on. I would greatly appreciate it if you could give me a little direction on this, if possible. Thanks,
@TheSpurgeonPiper3 жыл бұрын
Happy to help. Here is a link to the pipe. www.smokingpipes.com/pipes/estate/misc/moreinfo.cfm?product_id=367177 Like you said, it doesnt look like they have anymore available. If I were to make a recommendation, I would check out Peterson's system pipes. They some large bowl/oversized models that I've enjoyed.

Hello Wilson, thanks for this great and interesting review. I have had one tin of this wonderful stuff, which is unavailable here in europe. A pipe friend in the states bought it for me after I got to know it from muttnchop piper. Now a question: Do you know what happened to muttnchop? His last videos came out a year ago or so. I am missing his excellent reviews and advices and I wonder if he is well. Greetings from Germany. Hans

From a latest source, he has been dealing with alot of family issues. I'm not sure if he will return to his channel or not. I certainly hope so.

I love Westminster. It is amazing. I don’t like Maltese Falcon nearly as much. It seems lighter and has that topping that I’m not sure I care for. In my opinion this would be a good blend for someone who enjoys aromatics and is looking to break into English blends. For example Mutten Chop Piper loves this blend and he is a big aromatic smoker.

Thanks for sharing! I really need to pop the 8oz tin of Westminster I have. It has been quite awhile since I've tried it.

Curmudgeon turned me on to MF. It’s probably my current favorite medium English. I’ll have to see if I can pick up some ginger in my next bowl.

I probably would not have labeled it ginger if I didnt read that it actually was.
