Literally just about to say that myself. All other interviews ive seen they asked about es6 then after todd or pete said its in the future they left it at that. And when they said about fallout 76 they ask a single question then moved on. Atleast this guy had the balls to say im uncertain of the multiplayer element and ask the more pressing questions

Imo Bethesda currently, and for a very long time has been best gaming development and publishing studio, not a single time they have released crap out, there are of course minority that are screaming loud, but are only few, that tend to dislike for example Fallout 4, but at the end they know how to make, they are not rushing at all, and they are not trying to showoff in front of Investors like EA does, EA at E3 was like...everything meant for investors and not gamers, with their dumb subscriptions. I started to compare it like this - Bethesda - For Gamers by Gamers, EA - For Investors by Salesmen. I mean, Bethesda has great games, and having [id] software under the wing is just great and awesome, this is what happens when developers have time freedom, they create DooM, Fallout, Elder Scrolls, Rage 2.....oh right...this reminded me that only one game they actually had that sucked to some level...Rage 1, it felt like it had potential, but it felt short and unfinished, not that it was rushed or anything, but that developers experimented with something, tried doing something, but ended up with some concept game or something. Man, I wish I could work for Todd or Bethesda in general, it feels that they have the freedom of time to do things, and actually try and experiment with things without being punished for it because you are not delivering in short time.

As someone that's met him, he's an asshat. He's totally full of himself. His studio is a conglomerate of untalented nobodies, too. Bethesda's last, and so far only, legitimately great game is Morrowind, and even that is pretty flawed. Don't get me wrong, Bethesda publishes some great stuff, but as a developer, they're not very good. BIOSHOCKFOXX Correction: Bethesda absolutely do not know how to make Fallout games, and Fallout 4 is, in fact, objectively, bad. Fallout 3 is an ok post-apocalyptic action game with light RPG mechanics, but it too is a terrible Fallout game. "By Gamers, For Gamers" was Interplay's slogan, the people that published the real Fallout games. Bethesda frequently publishes crap, and usually it's the things they developed. I'm going to go out on a limb and guess you had never played a Bethesda game before Fallout 3 or maybe Oblivion. You just sound like a fanboy that doesn't actually know anything, like someone that calls themselves an "anime fan" but all they watch is DBZ. I, on the otherhand, played Daggerfall when it was new. And Battlespire. And Redguard. And Terminator Future Shock. Did you even know Bethesda made a Terminator game? Of course not. Because they didn't. They made two.

GameSpot > IGN This is just my opinion. I think IGN has gotten too big for their own good. It just feels like GameSpot cares more about the games themselves and actually forwarding the information to fans. While IGN seems to care more about how many viewers and likes they can get. GameSpot seems more caring. But again... this is just my opinion.

Ryan Mathis why should you like that he was honest? Shouldn't you expect someone to be honest about what they're attempting to sell you? Being honest should be bottom line, nobody should be praised for being honest about the monetisation of a product they're selling it should be expected not congratulated surely.

Ariom being honest should be expected yes, but to assume that in today's world people are going to be honest is at the best naive and at worst dangerously stupid. So when and if someone is going to be honest it makes sense to appreciate that if for nothing more than to encourage it on the future.

I just want to take this opportunity to thank Todd Howard and all those who are working at BGS. The worlds they bring to us are beautiful, epic and fulfilling. I know many people are worried or upset at how long Starfield and TES 6 may take to release, but please be patient. You all know these games are going to be brilliant works of art that capture our imaginations. They will be worth the wait and they will be here before you know it. Edit: Also, I need to give credit to the guy interviewing Todd Howard. His questions are precise and on point. He's asking a lot of questions I would ask.

Thank you. It seems like I see more hate and worry than anything else. Most of it is pointed towards the supposed release windows for either game. My advice to everyone is just have patience. Both Starfield and TES 6 are very ambitious and I have no doubt they will both be immense in scale. That type of vision takes a lot of time, effort and will to bring to fluition. We all knew TES 6 was coming eventually, but at least we know for a fact, now, that Starfield is a BGS title. I applaud Bethesda Softworks and BGS for giving us that info when they didn't have to. They could have kept everything under wraps, but they didn't. They put it all out on the table for us.

Daniel Lion, maybe implement a karma system or something? If your an evil or bad character you can’t see anyone else on the map but if your good you can see everyone... I honestly don’t know and that is what is making me extremely hesitant about the game. I can just see some group of kids just sitting outside the vault entrance. Every time I picture playing this I keep getting visions of GTA online..
@TheChimpoko1
@TheChimpoko1 6 жыл бұрын
thats my biggest fear, that they are trying to recreate GTA online. I abhor that experience, and I'm saddened that studios are chasing that. But even GTA 5 had a story mode, so why studios think they can just skip that part and jump right into the microtransactions online world is troubling. As soon as special weapons and armor are available for cash instead of playing the game, the game is finished in my eyes

Daniel Lion, my wife ( who knows absolutely nothing about video games) put it best. When I told her my favorite franchise went multiplayer she said, “isn’t that your bobble head game? I've posted this on reddit as well, but I'm really trying to spread the message to hopefully calm people down. "One thing that so many people in this community forget that this is Bethesda. Not some indie developer that throws their game on steam for $40 early access and then releases it after 10 years for $60. They are not EA, who's entire 2017 was just a lootbox bonanza because they have removed all soul from their games for greed. Bethesda has always made games fun for the player, it might not always work. but their heart and passion is always in the right place. They are a massive gaming company, one of the biggest, best, and most suited to pulling this off properly and I strongly believe that. So many fans feel that they are entitled to a specific experience from Bethesda each time they make a game. Bethesda feels that their fans should love their games enough to give it a chance. If it fails, it fails, but if you love these games at all, I'm sure we'll see you online in Novemeber when the game launches. I watched all of E3 and there was a clear difference from EA's presentation and what was going on over at the Bethesda Conference. We as fans may not like everything Bethesda has done, but in my opinion, overwhelmingly they win when it comes to making really fun gaming experiences. If anyone can make an online survival Fallout game that's actually FUN, it would be Bethesda hands down. I personally hate games like Rust and Ark but man Fallout 76 looks so damn exciting and fresh and sounds like they have a full game plan ready to make this game really shine. Correct me if I'm wrong, but after seeing the Noclip documentary, from what I understood, they said that all players will be visible on the map at all times and this is most likely a key factor for people that want to engage in pvp but also avoid it completely. You see a group of people heading straight for your direction? Pack up your camp and head out. This one single feature being in the game could really change how players engage with each other whether that's pvp or trading or whatever. I don't think you'll really see death groups roaming around trying to gank you because you'll just see them on the map regardless and most people would probably realize it's a waste of time. This doesn't even include the other small hints they've thrown out to avoid griefing so I 100% trust that they can pull this off in an amazing way and I'll definitely be playing this on launch." I love Bethesda's passion for their games and the amount of soul that they put in. How can you say you're a diehard fan of their games but decide that you no longer support them based on a game that you haven't even played yet personally. You could be missing out on your most favorite Bethesda game of all time just from being stubborn. This whole series is about acknowledging the past but moving on towards the future and from what I see, we have Bethesda trying something new and have even stated that it's just a side project they've been excited to show us, it's not going to take away from their main games. If the game was EA's Battlefront 3 Prepare to Jedi Survival Edition I'd be like, ok, I'd understand, but I just don't understand how someone can be so jaded to the point where they can only assume the worst from a company that in my lifetime has only made epic consumer friendly adventures that have stood the test of time amazingly well and are still played to this day over 2 decades later.

I have to ask you, why does Bethesda allow their games to be modded by the community for free when they publish mods themselves using the creation club? They don't HAVE to let you use free mods but people will still complain when they say "hey guys, if you love our games so much and the modders, you can pay for officially sanctioned mod content and a lot of the proceeds will support our community content creators directly". Do you wanna explain to me how that's selfish in anyway? It's selfish in my opinion to complain about a system that doesn't even negatively impact our community. They realized that free modding was a backbone to their games and community, and since I have Fo3, NV, and Fo4 installed and modded on my PC without spending a dime on those mods, I'm pretty happy they made the right decision.

Notice when the interviewer asks if Starfield is playable, Todd Howard said "sections" of it are playable. Just for everyone who thinks that Starfield is almost finished. I imagine they still have A LOT of work to do. Like I said in an earlier comment... Please be patient. You won't be disappointed.
@rioplats
@rioplats 6 жыл бұрын
I'm sure no one thinks it's coming out within the year; certainly not before next E3, else they would have shown more. The implications of sections being playable is that they could have shown gameplay footage, but chose to withhold it. That restraint is what excites me more tbh. This means that whilst content must still be made, the base loop and game mechanics have been set. With the new support studio at Montreal, and BGS Austin taking over entirely for Fallout 76 after launch, we may see it in full glory by next E3 or at the latest 2020, is what I'd imagine.

Rioplats thank you for clarifying the what he meant when he said sections are playable. As much as I'd like to see more of Starfield, the mystery of what it holds is half the fun of it. I'd love to see more of it at next year's E3, but if I don't, I won't be disappointed.

@TheNopeTrain

To be fair I don't think people wanted an only online multiplayer with no (human) npc characters and really wanted skyrim or fallout 4 with optional co-op... Personally I would have liked a single player that has small npc camps and maybe a slightly larger hostile "raider" camp here and there with side quests and other stuff more in the vein of fallout 3 and 4, and then have the multiplayer be exactly what they want to try because there are a lot of people who don't have the internet and from what I have heard there are a lot of people in West Virginia who are big fans but don't have the internet to play... It makes it hard not to feel like this is a slap in the face to fans who love fallout but can't enjoy 76 because of this... Plus I really don't understand why they have refused to even consider this and are in an "all or nothing" mentality. I have posted similar comments elsewhere in which I am just confused and just want to understand why an optional co-op was rejected and why an online only was considered the best option given how every fallout game before this was single player and this consequently means that a lot of fallout's audience would be people drawn to single player for whatever their reasons and this sharp turn does cause problems for these people. Sorry that this is long but I see people commenting like this and seemingly ignoring what people might have actually been saying or meaning so I figured I would toss in my 2 pennies... Thank you for reading.

Hmm. I imagine it will be multiplayer initially, but once they allow mods I think a single player variation will be released most likely for free whether it's by the community or Bethesda I cannot be to sure. but it will happen once they figure out how to enable third party mods without enabling third-party hacks like aim-bot and infinite health, just to name a few.

I feel like every video of fallout online I watch I have to tell people that when modding hits an online multiplayer game with private servers, all the design choices bethesda makes wont mean anything. Just look at Ark. Todd himself said there will be modded private servers soon after launch. That's why he's so confident in it, the modding community will fine tune and tailor the experience to specific niche groups. The things that don't change in their games is the exploration, leveling up, and looting. No wonder he says the studio has experience and knows what the fans want. Though, I know it'll be a buggy mess, we'll fix it when they let us mod it. [EDIT] I made a video about this

Semi This is the best comment I've seen yet. As someone who isn't into multiplayer most of the time, I know that current online culture is very, very negative and troll based. However, there are people like yourself that will take control of this game and make it much cooler, and cooperative like we always wanted. Not this aggro griefing PVP that will ultimately frustrate and keep a lot of us away.

He actually didn't say "soon" - in another interview indicated it would be quite a ways in the future. Also talked about private worlds for player mods as a "service," which made me wonder if there will be an extra cost for this.. Will wait and see.

I’m really glad he’s been doing these interviews. E3 left me very indifferent about the game and wasn’t excited as I’m a SP gamer. But the documentary and these interviews has allowed me to become more interested and intrigued enough to preorder because I don’t think I can properly judge the game without trying it out. I understand I might still not like it but I’m okay with that. I am not obligated to keep my preorder unless I really want it after all.

I'm happy this isn't Fallout 5. It's too soon, and it would've looked just like 4 in a different setting. 76 looks like Fallout 4 but the online component makes it a completely different experience. Can't wait. Fallout 5 will be on next gen consoles and that gets me excited.

Very interesting, wasn’t expecting to get much more info from this but did. A big reason they announced Elder Scrolls so early (too early?) is to offset that they are doing these very new projects like,76, Starfield and Blades.]: “don’t worry, we are still going to do the stuff that made you love us to begin with.” Makes perfect sense now.

Idk about that. At least I hope not. If starfield is playable and they have a bigger team than ever (3 studios), we could see starfield in 2020. They overlap projects so maybe ES6 in 2022-2023. Fallout 5 prob 2025 earliest. That would be a decade after the last numbered entry.
@theqrogy
@theqrogy 6 жыл бұрын
GP Kitchawan no, considering there are multiple rumors about Starfield dropping Winter 2019 I would say TES6 Earliest is Winter 2020, Latest I would say is Winter 2022.

Charles wood Companies don't announce games that early. Bethesda have a team 3x larger than that which they used to develop Skyrim. Even Todd hints within this interview that is is perfectly healthy to assume that we will have access to the upcoming titles on current gen hardware. So it's entirely reasonable to expect ES6 in around 2020-2021.

I get too anxious, blood pressure goes up, I get pissed off, I start shaking, hahaha. I just can't do coop anymore. I like to come home from work, relax, have dinner and then play my game, take my time, play by my rules. There are four big games coming out that I 'am' interested in so, it's all good. FO5 will come in due time, I'm sure. I hope.

It's not likely going to be a real Beta, it's more likely going to be an Early Week/Weeks access period. Otherwise it would need to atleast be 3 month to properly test and fix any bugs that are found by the playerbase. I do hope it's a proper beta period, but I have my doubts.

I still have tons of questions for fallout 76 that weren't asked because this wasn't an interview based on one game. How does the clan/friend enlistment work? Can you build camps at nuke silos and prevent other players from using them? If your camp disappears when you log out and reappears when you log in, what happens if someone has their camp in the same spot? Does it merge or does it stop future players from building in the location? Where is the spawn location/s in fallout 76? Where does the player respawn after dying? Is there fast travel in fallout 76? If so, how does it work? I heard there will still be a VATS system in fallout 76, does time not slow down/stop? If VATS is still implemented, is there a way to cancel it midway since it takes place in real time?
