I think Newt’s only problem with Theseus is that his brother is the golden child. He is socially capable, he’s well liked and admired, he’s athletic and a war hero and works in the ministry. Everything Theseus does he does well and garners praise and reward. He does what is expected of him because it is expected. Newt, on the other hand, is the polar opposite. He is reflective, introverted, and socially awkward. He doesn’t do anything that is expected of him unless he believes it is the right to do. He’s not a joiner or a follower. He sees everything from a different perspective and with the exception of Dumbledore, is constantly harangued for not being more like his brother. Even by Theseus himself. When Tina bound Theseus to the chair it was probably the first time anyone had bettered his brother thinking Newt was right. It was a revelation it could even happen. No wonder it was wonderful.

I would agree if we have had any indication of Newt's desire to change. He seems perfectly comfortable with who he is, he does NOT seek anyone's approval and popularity and he is doing what he loves the most.

@@AlexandraAndStuff He's perfectly comfortable NOW as an adult, but growing up in Theseus' shadow probably made Newt not his biggest fan. Newt is happy how his life is now, but, as we muggles now, childhood rivalries can last a lifetime, even if they get past it as adults. Personally, I think Newt is the stronger of the two when it comes to magical ability - they certainly use their abilities differently in their lives. Plus Theseus is a warrior and Newt loves all creatures, great and small, not a "best buddies" situation even if they are brothers.

And a potential problem, which may come to bite them later, is given in the example of the relationship between Albus and Aberforth. Albus was not a particularly good brother to Aberforth. If Albus had been a better brother, maybe some of what happened with Credence/Aurelius would not have turned out so badly. Will Newt act in a similar way toward Theseus? From this movie, it seems that Newt and Theseus are getting along better.

So, in real mythology, manticore is a basket-term for mixed creature of 3 or more existing creatures. So the manticore in the book is probably just the most common version in the wizarding world

I think if magical beasts existed there would be different types of the same beast. Like cardinals are a type of bird but there are different species of cardinal, and those different cardinal species have different subspecies of that version of a cardinal.

The term “real mythology” got a chuckle out of me. But was pretty much coming to the comments to say the same thing….the only manticore that I can think of that is unique is a Chimaera…though that might be due to it having 3 separate animal heads (Lion in front, goat facing backward, and snake head tail)

As a person with an older sibling who is clearly the favorite of like....everyone, I can definitely say I get the Newt thing. Like do I love them? Sure. Do I like spending time with them? Generally no. Would I risk my life to save them? Without question. Do I want them hanging out with my friends? Absolutely not.

Except, the irony of Newt’s situation is that Jacob (his best friend) considers Theseus a friend too. Add that Lally was clearly flirting with Theseus on the train, and they arrived to the wedding together. Newt is just going to have learn how to deal with it. Especially, since his brother is one of the few people who puts up with his quirks.

I was once accused of being “the favorite” when we were kids. Now I am 30 and my brother is 27, and I would take a bullet for him without hesitation. I love him unconditionally. But we do bicker and fight like Theseus and Newt because we are very different people in terms of personality. I think Theseus and Newt are being setup for a nice sort of “reconciliation” in a later film.

1. Newt and Theseus- because Theseus is Newt's foil. Theseus is a war hero, an auror, and was engaged to Newt's first love. Which makes things....*Awkward*. Newt in comparison is a sweet, gentle nurturer of misunderstood creatures himself deeply misunderstood and loath to resort to violence. They're competing models of masculinity. 2. Once again, Welsh confounds us all. Aberforth in Welsh means something like "From the river drawn". There's your prophecy solved. Interestingly "Arianna" is Welsh for "Silver," "Aurelius" is latin for "Gold". It strikes me that Albus' greatest regret in life is "Silver" while Aberforth's is "Gold". Artfully clever twist there.

For Theseus and Newt: I love how you're phrasing that. I will say, though: I would say that they're contrasting models of masculinity, rather than conflicting. As awkward as Newt and Theseus are, they do clearly love and respect each other for those differences. It's a wonderful sibling dynamic.

I wonder then if Aberforth is going to have a larger role in future movies, taking some form of leading role against Grindelwald? Trying to Avenge his sons death? - Is Credence dead? He was dying and Aberforth took him home - which we are meant to assume is taking him home to die, but I don't trust anyone is dead in fiction unless they die on screen and sometimes not even then.

Being a brother, and J and Ben being brothers, I would think that the explanation of the rift between Newt and Theseus is pretty straightforward. Newt has classic little brother syndrome where the older brother can do no wrong, and is praised by being the first to do all the things, the you throw in Leta and things get even more complicated as Newt doesn't know how to express his feelings and Theseus isn't blind and swoops in being the cooler, older, war hero that he is. And Newt never forgives him. Within the Wizarding World we see the Dumbledores, the Weasleys, and the Scamander Brothers. All of which show varying degrees of family dynamics but most commonly disassociation.

I thought it was pretty straight forward too about "beef" between Newt and Theseus. 1. Siblings rivalry dynamics. 2. Theseus being older brother patronizing Newt, not taking him seriously, overbearing him, like he knows better, etc etc. 3. Theseus is confident, war hero, auror. While Newt is socially awkward, shy, care about animals. These two are the opposite of each other. 4. Well, and the all Leta thing. She was Newt's bff in school that he was in love with since, but then at some point she started dating his brother (!) and was about to marry him.

Yeah, it was pretty obvious to me too. He's the less good looking socially awkward brother with a weird hobby/interest and his brother is a complete chad that stole his girl(and possibly the person he lost his virginity to). I think most people in Newt's position would be resentful.

@@toppaisme Theseus is born in 1888/89. Newt in 1897. Theseus is 8/9 years older.

@@you_already_have_it - It is heavily implied, in the third film, the age gag has been changed. Newt and Theseus now seem to be much closer in age. Theseus, in particular, had to be completely reimagined after Callum Turner was cast.

I also really, REALLY APPRECIATE more Aberforth in this movie. Giving Aberforth the father role to one of the key characters gives him a great importance emotionally to the story and I always felt that his inclusion in the books was lackluster at best. Of course that plays into the movie as well, how Aberforth and Albus have a strained relationship due to Albus's success in the wizarding world. I also love how Aberforht's line just cut out any exposition to the audience. His "I was there" stands up for all of the audience that read the book already and says "we were there, we don't need to rehash the story again to play the pity violin for Albus."

Totally agree with you about the “I was there” line. It was one of those lines of dialogue that made you realize that this film was written by an actual screenwriter. Exposition dumps have no place in film. Steve Kloves had always written Aberforth as someone who does not like talking about Ariana, due to how painful those memories were. Whereas, JK Rowling used him as an exposition dump, that it seemed out of character even in the book. It was never realistic for Aberforth to tell Harry, Ron, and Hermione about his sister’s condition. It was excusable in the novel, but still a conversation that would never have taken place.

Isolt Sayre was a Parselmouth. She just did not know it. She even talked to a serpent when she was first in North America. Gormlaith Gaunt was her aunt and could also speak to serpents.

@@iris220 the daughter who possesses no magical abilities wouldn’t be a no-maj since her mother is a witch, by definition she’d be a squib. Squibs can still pass on the “wizard gene” that’s literally why muggle borns are a thing. It is highly possible that if she had children and later grandchildren that at some point the magic resurfaced

The reason some of the beasts aren't in the book is because in universe Newt published the book between film 1 and 2. So all beasts that we don't allready know from film 1 that are in film 2 & 3 aren't in the book because Newt never encountered them before. At least that's what I think

I agree but also, I think Newt is aware enough to know that some creatures are truly dangerous and are better left alone or people are aweful enough to abuse certain creatures for their abilities like their theory about the Zowu(however thats spelled?

That's a good way for them to backpedal but if the story was created to completion from movie 1 of this series, then all of the creatures should be in the books. It feels like they're changing things as it continues with the hope that the audience will just go with it. At least they got the actor for Grindewald right finally. Mads is awesome.

Assuming the little creatures are baby versions of the big one in the pit, then Newt has encountered them “once before - in a laboratory setting” and, thus, the results of his mimicking experiments were “inconclusive” - but that could have been after the 1st edition was published

The prophecy makes sense when the Gaelic/Welsh meaning of Aberforth is "From the river"... From the water. Also is poetic since nobody seems to account for Aberforth.

The soundtrack for the prison scene is literally called "Manticore Dance". Also, I think the "water" behind the logo is the same as the spell Dumbledore uses to draw up the temple in Bhutan.

I loved the film but I can’t lie I was just a little disappointed with the explanation for Aurelius. I still liked what they chose for his backstory but I definitely prefer your Philosopher’s Stone/Obscurus theory in every way. It just fits with how foolish and arrogant Dumbledore was when he was young. He thought he could do anything. And there’s consequences for that notion. God it would’ve been so perfect.

I fear they might've simplified the explanation for the general audience. I was disappointed too. When I got out of the theater, I thought, _well that didn't feel like it was written by Rowling_ And turns out, according to David Heyman, Kloves was the one to write the final script, based on the latest draft Joanne did. Long story short we got this. Simplification is fine, but this one's oversimplified, IMO.

@@Crafyeet I’d rather get a more simplified explanation, that still held a lot of emotional value, over J.K. Rowling getting anymore work. I can’t wait for her to almost entirely lose her platform. If it was up to me I would honestly hire SCB. Their ideas are ridiculously good. Maybe they would be bad script writers, I don’t know them personally, so maybe they should be brought in to give general ideas. Cooperation.

I feel lie a major theme of this whole saga is about the relationship between siblings. Queenie and Tina, Albus and Aberforth, and Newt and Theseus. Even with the symbolism of the two quilins, and maybe there is something more with Credence and the other baby, but sibling relationships are a big play and I think there will be more to that.

@@ToBy11334 nope, moody (crouch jr) clearly says that it can't be blocked by any spell, it either misses you or you die. Harry can block voldermort's because of the twin cores but it's the only exception

My theory is that neither of them truly went against one another in that interaction. Grindelwald shot at Credence and Dumbledore shot to counteract the spell but not specifically at Grindelwald at that moment. So they ended up clashing despite the fact that neither of them went against the other directly, which is what I think Dumbledore means when he says to "call it fate" and also the reason for why the blood pact broke.

Maybe the prophecy refers to generations of Dumbledores? A son cruelly banished - Percival Dumbledore who was sent to Azkaban. The despair of the daughter - Ariana Dumbledore who had to suffer a terrible muggle attack. Return, great avenger with wings from the water - Aurelius Dumbledore who didn't end up drowning because of the baby swap.

My theory is that Credence’s mom is the daughter who despairs because her child was shipped away by her parents who wanted her pregnancy out of wedlock to be kept secrets. Credence is still the son cruelly banished (by his grandparents). Maybe Aberforth will be the great avenger?

I told you in another post that (according to my theory 😎) every phoenix was once an obscurus, and becoming an obscurus is what runs in the Dumbledore family (Harry Potter famously did NOT become one). Credence’s phoenix is his aunt Ariana; Creedence himself will, upon his death, arise with wings because he’ll become Fawkes, and come to Albus’s defense. Newt has an obscurus in his suitcase and will figure this out.

Now this is a good theory that's not convoluted! Most theories are just waaaay too deep into Potterlore that general audiences wouldn't understand. You're theory everyone could get with minimal explanation. Plus it's excellent, I love it!

What a fun theory! Or that every Dumbledore becomes a Phoenix after they die 🤔 Then Ariana could still be Credence’s Phoenix and Credence could become Fawkes. Harry also thought he saw a Phoenix rising from Dumbledore’s grave.

I've interpreted Newt and Theseus' relationship to be this: Newt and Lita were bffs that use to date. They had a falling out of some sorts. They later reconciled but she also ended up dating his brother. Which accounts for the "mildly hilarious " Best Man line of his in CoG. Also, Theseus strikes me as the caring but alittle overbearing older brother. He seems to have never taken Newt's interest seriously (neither did their mother apparently) which has affected their relationship. Add this to the fact that Theseus is basically a rock star and BOOM relationship explained. They love each other but don't really like each other. Theseus thinks Newt is wasting his talents, Newt thinks Theseus takes himself too seriously for a guy who works in an office 🤷🏾‍♂️. Also, Theseus and Lolly are probably going to end up together. I would love to see a tale of the Scamander cousins lol (Theseus + Lolly's kids & Newt + Tina's kids).

The fact that McGonagall was born three years after this film is set and yet is somehow teaching at Hogwarts. It’s one of those errors from CoG they could’ve ignored and hoped people would forget about and yet she still appears in SoD by name.

I don't think it's exactly that Newt doesn't like Theseus, it's that Newt doesn't like the Ministry and the fact that Theseus keeps pushing Newt to join the Ministry.

I think the way they interract is overblown and folks are reading into it too much. I just finished watching the movie and to me it would be the same way I would interact with my brother. Not everyone is as close as Ben and J are to their siblings. I saw it as "o ya my brother is here too and he does things I am tired of talking about" and they dont hate each other we just dont see eye to eye.

@@usseg - Also, the filmmakers and Steve Kloves completely changed Theseus, in the third film, due to how Callum Turner was portraying him. The way he was written in the two films is quite different. As JK Rowling had a particular image in her head, when coming up with the basic backstory, and could not understand how/why Callum Turner was cast. It is why Theseus acts a certain way, but everyone states the opposite about him, in the second film. What was in the script was not working. Whereas, Steve Kloves wrote the character to fit naturally with the actor and third film. The first half hour of “Secrets of Dumbledore” basically was a soft reboot of the series. Since, it virtually erased/condensed the previous two films. This film can be watched without knowing what happened before. Newt and Theseus do not have any beef. They are just brothers with very different personalities. Honestly, their relationship was one of the biggest highlights of FB3. It was fairly playful sibling banter. Even Jacob got into it with Theseus, on several occasions. He almost seemed like an adopted Scamander, which was incredibly sweet. PS: Theseus and Lally are totally becoming a couple.

@@redcactusify2071 - If anything, “Secrets of Dumbledore” is more consistent with the first film and “Crimes of Grindelwald” is what screwed the story up. Like you said, it was impossible to follow and made absolutely no sense. “Secrets of Dumbledore” cut out the dead plot and characters and tied up a couple of storylines to phase those characters out. Meaning, if the franchise continues, the WWII arc will be very streamlined.

Jacob and Queenie got married illegally in the USA, but their relationship was public knowledge due to Bhutan. Also, Theseus is British. He could care less about a witch marrying a muggle. It is not illegal where he is from.

Queenie may have been banned from using magic other than to defend herself and others because of her being a part of Grindelwald's side even though she left him to be with Jacob. This would make her no longer a member of the wizarding community in America which would make it legal for her to marry Jacob. In normal times she would have to break her wand in half, which she may have to do after Grindelwald's defeat.

My main question is: Why would the qilin think Albus was "pure of heart"? He's not! Lots of people I've talked to on and off the internet have said that they thought it was going to bow to either Jacob or Newt. We don't know anything about, uh, what was her name again? There's an unanswered question: What is this woman like, and is she going to do a good job, and what specifically does she intend to do about Grindelwald - as well as whatever other issues are facing the wizarding world? What were her campaign issues? Another unanswered question: What the heck was up with that German death prison? They just send various people down there, with no trial, no semblance of justice or due process, and when the little light bug goes out, they just die. Those light bugs don't seem to last very long, so it seems like once you're in, you've got hours to live. Doesn't anyone notice these missing wizards? Doesn't anyone wonder what happened to them? WW2 hasn't happened yet, and Germany already has magical death camps?

The whole quilin thing was so frustrating. You’ve got a almost-convicted war criminal who happens to have access to the only thing that will grant him an unopposed election to highest office, and no one questions it? No one thinks ‘hey this is too convenient?!’ What was the election process before the magic deer showed up? Also yes, it bowing to dumbledore was just…awful. And since when does purity of heart mean ‘sound foreign policy’ or ‘good ideas for policy reform’?

I wonder if Credence's mother could also be the mother of Merope and Morfin, and possibly the wife of Marvolo. She could have been a Gaunt herself, maybe a cousin or half-sibling or something, given that that was not taboo in their family. It could be that she gave birth to Credence before or after her marriage to Marvolo (likely before) and he could have found out about the half-blood baby and/or affair later on, possibly going as far as to murder her.

When Lally and Jacob use the Book as a Portkey, Jacob exits out of a fireplace. Did he port into the Flu Network? Portkey a usually lead from one location to another, but the exit from the trains fireplace was confusing

Honestly, I liked SCB's explanation of Aurelius born from Ariana's Obscurus using the philosopher's stone. Made more sense for his relatively long life than him being the son of a Dumbledore.

@@johnjohnon8767 we know their was a few at least. Those traveling with Credence and Corvis. Servents and family keeping in mind corvis comes from a well off family. The scene we get show very tight quarters, small cabins. Meaning that either the boat was full of wizards or no one could use magic the entire trip. Knowing how dangerous oceanic trips were at the time I doubt either family would send off these babies without someone to protect them.

This was one of the most frustrating moments in the movie. This is also my question but I thought it was awesome that they were communicating. I want to see more of their relationship. Even if he turns him into a goat to prolong his life. This is so intriguing for me. I have always seen aberfoth as taciturn, bitter and closed off. Losing Ariana, his love and son explain it now.

I don’t think there is an “explanation” for it - at least, there isn’t any reference to a mirror that you can write on and communicate with in the Wizarding World from what I’ve seen in the movies or read in the books/Pottermore. I think it was just used as a way to hint at a relationship between Aberforth and Credence before the “big reveal” that Aberforth is actually Credence’s father. I think it also is a little reference to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows when Aberforth uses SIrius’s other mirror to communicate with Harry throughout the book. Anyone who’s read that book would likely make that connection while watching SoD and it would add extra color to the story.

Ah, the next best thing after getting a new Wizarding World movie: SCB theories about it! I can’t wait for all your theories! And I’m already on board with this one that Credence’s mother is a Gaunt. I wonder if you got a theory about when did the Dumbledores know that Credence is Aberforth’s son and how the mirror connection came to be. On MuggleCast they (I think it was Laura) told a theory that Albus and Gellert could have used the same mirror connection in the past. Also do you think that the Quilin bowing to Albus has something to do with him becoming the Supreme Mugwump later in his life?

I would also like both of Dumbledore’s fight scenes explained. Were they in a pocket dimension? Is Jacob a Squibb?

If I'm not mistaken the duel was actually between Aberforth and Grindlewald with dumbledore kinda just trying to disarm or stop the conflict. Either that or the blood paxt was trying to kill dumbledore the whole duel.

It was between Grindelwald and Aberforth, Albus only stepped in to protect his brother from the cruciatus curse. The blood pact doesn’t allow Grindelwald and Albus to fight against each other or mean harm towards one another but I think, it does allow dumbeldore to protect someone from Grindelwald/ vice versa for a short period of time.

In the movie, Lally said that Fantastic Beast and where to find them is a reglamentary read for her 5th grade students, so the book already got released when Newt encountered these "Manticores", so they couldn't be included on the book at that time, even that could apply to the Zouwu, doesn't it?

@@marshamoseley5878 you may be right and if they hadn't later enchanted the cases then I could agree with you that muggle copying rather than using Gemino was a good idea. However, not only did they enchant the copies, the original case is magical anyway so using Appare Vestigium or Specialis Revelio or some other magical tracing spell will probably show something (not that Grindelwald’s followers bothered).

@@c.m.8972 - That is the entire point of a film. It is a very different medium than a novel, it even a television series. Films need to be lean and concise with strong visuals and a straightforward storyline. Show do not tell. Which is exactly what “Secrets of Dumbledore” did. Whereas, “Crimes of Grindelwald” was the most incoherent exposition dump masquerading as a movie.

One theory I had with the creatures left out of the book is that he simply didnt know of certain beasts or didnt know enough about them to include them in that edition of the book. Most of the creatures in the book are also in his suit case, creatures he's actively studied and cared for. In Crimes of Grindelwald Tina and Newt talk about Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them as an already published book. Its also mentioned in Secrets of Dumbledore - on the train- when Lally compliments Newt by saying that Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is required reading for all her students. Meaning the books been out long enough for it to be credible in schools. Newt meets and 'collects' more creatures in the next two movies. So it'd make sense that Newt just simply didnt have the information required to put these creatures in the original book, especially in regards to the quilin (aka the one that sounds like 'chillin'). this is clearly a very rare creature that hasn't been 'actively around' for awhile so even though its apparently rather important to wizarding culture, it was mostly myth until Newt found the one/s featured in SoD.

other unanswered questions for the towel section: what was the deal with Jacob's assasination attempt, what is the magic used by Albus in the battle with Credence, what was Yusef's deal in the movie, why haven't we heard of the "great wizard leader" in the time of Potter? (unless that is just the confederation of wizards, like they mention once in the movie, but it's way more powerful in this story?). And an explanation in general of Albus's weird other dimension magic would be great ^^ keep it up guys! Can't wait for you guys to make more sense of this movie.

The book was released to coincide with the release of the first movie, not necessarily the whole series. So it makes sense that the animals from the first film would be there, but stuff from following films? That would require either planning ahead or looking back and making sure the new stuff you've written lines up with the stuff you wrote before. This series has done neither of those things particularly well. I've always believed that Newt's problem with Theseus isn't anything specific, he just doesn't like his brother very much. It's obviously one sided, as Theseus seems to care very much about Newt; I figure that since Newt is sort of autistic, he probably had a rough time as a kid and Theseus reminds him of that. Or maybe Theseus was even part of the reason his childhood was rough and he hasn't really gotten over it. I fully believe that they've forgotten about the prophecy. I don't expect it to make a comeback if they make the next two movies.

I think the baby swap explains why a teenaged Aberforth never looked for his kid when he was more able. Grindlewald can see futures so maybe he saw enough of what happened to know Aberforths kid survived and not the lestrange kid.

Same. I don't get how Jussuf Kama could suffer from his unbreakable vow in CoG if the babys were swapped and Corvus died. He promised to kill the boy, the boy was sent away to America to be out of his reach and then died in the water. Consequently, Yussuf fulfilled his vow.

I also wonder how Bellatrix could marry a Lestrange, if baby Corvus Lestrange who was the last of his blood line (as Yussuf Kama stated in CoG) died as a baby. Leta also has no children with her maiden name. So where do Rodolphus Lestrange and his brother come from? It doesn't add up for me

@@c.m.8972 Corvus Sr.’s is only one branch on the larger Lestrange family tree. The branches that have Fulcran Lestrange and Cyrille Lestrange seem to have a comparable number of generations as Corvus Sr.’s branch, so the bloodline has continued to Corvus Sr.’s generation through other branches as well. The Lestrange family wasn't just in France, it was also in the UK. So when it showed the Leatrange family tree, it mait likely wasn't all of them.

Maybe the reason that “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” (textbook) doesn’t have all the creatures or the correct manticore info is because he published it at the end of the first movie. The manticore drawing and description actually remind me of medieval animal drawings and descriptions. Example: the bee being described as “the smallest of birds” etc. so maybe the info was just very outdated at the time of writing…or Joanne just decided it would be that way, and so it was.

After Jacob asked Albus if he could keep the wand, on top of the temple, a blink and you miss it moment, I could of swore that Jacob put the wand to his ear as he walked away. Like he heard some kind of whispering coming from it. Also just like no Nagini… no Abernathy either all of a sudden? 🧐

The dumbledore family lived in godrics hollow. The peverell family (extinct by surname, but with descendants), also lived in Godrics Hollow. We know that the second brother Cadmus had a daughter. We also kbow that this daughter or one of her descendants ended up married with a male Gaunt, thats why Marvolo had the ring. This could mean that the Gaunt family lived in Godrics Hollow by that time and one Gaunt met Aberforth there and had Credence. The fact that she had a son with a half-blood explains why Credence was sent to America and why the family would pretend that Credence mother never existed (just like they did with Merope).

Newts problem with his brother is likely just simple sibling resentment, fueled by his brother being more handsome, more popular and seemingly more talented in a lot of ways. Really, they're equals, but siblings are fickle things sometimes. Not all of us love our siblings like the Carlin brothers clearly love each other. lol

Albus Dumbledore was a parselmouth, or at least that is implied in the sixth book, when he understands parseltounge in a memory, Credence's parseltounge probably comes from Aberforth.

Muggles are only allowed to see Hogwarts if invited in. An example is Moaning Myrtle’s parents. They entered Hogwarts to see and take their daughters deceased body home. Moaning Myrtle had two muggle parents

Theseus and Newt just felt like typicsl brothers to me. Me and my brother don’t have any specific beef but we will be generally petty against each other until the other one is in trouble. Then we’re best buds. That’s just how it works

The "giant scorpion thing" is a Manticore. The little crab ones are baby Manticores. Edit: OK, I hadn't watched the entire video when I commented this. J already pointed it out.

@@Nintentohtori David Heyman confirmed it during the Japan fan event. The little baby deer is a Qilin (well, as per mentioned in the film), the puffy bird is a Wyvern, the crustaceans at the Erkstag are Manticores.

Another question…in the famous three-way duel between Aberforth, Albus and Gellert, why didn’t the blood pact break? 👀 Because Gellert used the cruciatus curse on Aberforth…and Albus tried to intervene. How did the blood pact work then?

I see two possibilities, but I may be misrembering some things. 1) In SoD Albus describes he and Aberforth preparing to dual and Grindelwald laughing, he doesn't mention him drawing his wand. So the dual was essentially brother vs brother and Albus was defending Grindewald. So no conflict 2) They created the Bloodpact after Arianna's death. Because Albus saw a glimpse of the cost of their ever dual g. Like I said might be little off.

Okay I have a theory and a question of my own: Prophecy - hot take but Credence and Ariana are the son and daughter like you suggest, while Dumbledore is the great avenger. Grindelwald is partially responsible for Ariana's death and has told Credence lies and isolated him to use his anger and power to get to Dumbledore. So Albus could be the one to avenge the death and suffering when he defeats him in 1945. Mirrors - So I was discussing the mirror world thing with a friend and they suggested that it maybe "mirror magic" is a Dumbledore family thing. Which makes a bit since considering only one blood line can talk to snakes. We also see Credence and Aberforth use the mirrors to talk to each other. Not to mention the stone in the mirror trick from the first book/movie. And I know Sirius had a special mirror, but it could've been enchanted, we don't know. But remember who gets it after Sirius dies? The family just has a thing for mirrors, just saying.

I think the Newt/Theseus relationship doesn't need much explanation. Newt is a lot like Ron, overshadowed by the older sibling. Theseus also seems to look down on Newt because he won't join the ministry. This is why Newt resents him and not Tina, even if they have the same job. Tina supports Newt, and understands his love for creatures. She doesn't put him down for it, but try's to encourage him. Which is exactly why Newt supports Tina.

Loved this way more than any of the other fantastic beasts films. Sure it wasn’t Harry Potter but the new Grindelwald is great and Jude law as Dumbledore has really evolved. I wholeheartedly disagree with the critics on their evaluation on this!

NEED you two to KEEP TRACK of ANY developements surrounding UPCOMING WIZARDING WORLD PRODUCTIONS and DO EVERYTHING YOU POSSIBLY CAN to BE A PART OF THEM ONE WAY OR ANOTHER. potential prophecy tie in: a son cruelly banished= the murdered qillin. Despair of the daughter= orphaned qillin. Return great avenger with wings from the water= newt being carried out of the waterfall area by his weird winged balloon beast

One thing I will say about certain things not being in the textbook is that said book is published between the first and second movie, so you'd expect first-movie creatures to be in there, but not necessarily second- or third-movie creatures because he may not have encountered them yet

If I heard correctly, when Lally meets Jacob at the bakery, she says to him "a little over a year ago, with the hopes of securing a small business loan, you walked through the doors of the Steen National Bank located about 6 blocks from here. You then made the acquaintance of Newt Scamander..." This film takes place about 5 years after the first doesn't it? That's more than a little over a year ago.

The first two films, no longer exist. That line, and how Jacob and Theseus react in the German ministry, essentially rebooted the series. Even Newt has a slightly different personality now.

The problem with the theory that was stated in HP, that only descendants of Salazar Slytherin could be a Parselmouth was debunked when Ron Weasely speaks Parselmouth in the Deathly Hallows storyline. This implies that the language of snakes, Parseltongue, can also be learned by a non-descendent of Salazar.

I honestly enjoyed the film even though I wanted more filling information from it, but I trust the process. I definitely have a feeling this franchise will outgrow and fulfill the purpose of satisfying the HP fandom. This year I will keep theorizing about the upcoming events and just hoping for the best! Just a thought on Jacob, could the part of the prophecy about the returning great avenger be referring to Jacob and this is why Dumbledore gave him the snake wood wand?

cc the prophecy - I feel like that prophecy was never a "concrete" one, and Dumbledore in CoG seems to completely dismiss it when Travers mentions it. Once we find out Corvus actually died, I think it's clear that prophecy was never going to pass. Tho there's a lot of ways you can still make the prophecy about Credence, I don't think it was ever intended to be a running thing, otherwise they'd have mentioned it at the end of CoG when Grindelwald told Credence his true identity

I make knife handles out of Snakewood one of the densest exotic woods. Native to South America and expensive, a 1"x1 1/2"x5" piece is around $36 and is uncommon as a zebra thigh bone cost less even after being stabilized under high pressure. Snakewood like most of the other extremely dense woods isn't stabilized.

I've been wonderind about Credence's ( by the way, Is "Aurelius" his real name after all?) mother... and I hope the answer confirms his possible parseltongue fracture, and partly justify Nagini's relationship with him, and we all want her back. I also want to see how she ends up living with Voldemort, and if there is some Corvus/snake Fable link to their story, even if we think Credence is not Corvus. That could have been an idea to play with in the magical circus, for example, in the second movie. I want this franchise to continue.

Nagini's not being in the movie was due to her being pregnant during the filming. Tina is barely in it for the same reason. Most likely, with the pandemic interrupting shooting schedules, things got mixed up and they decided to have the kids as everything was closed down, then suddenly filming was back on. Nagini will be back if there is another movie.

i don't remember any real world fable or mythos that could be with the corvus (crow) and a snake, but the Garuda and the Naga are basically an indian phoenix and a magical snake that can have many heads and look human. But that would have them turn into enemies or one be the cause of the death of the other. Maybe Nagini being indirectly guilty of Credence dying makes her transform faster? And a part if me actually would love that the mysterious mother is not a descendant of the slithering line, but a branch of the older families (There were other parseltounges in history older than Slithering) someone that actually opens other possibilities for stories.

Depp was brilliant and what happened to him unjustifiable, but Mikkelsen is perfect as Grindelwald and whom David Yates, the director of every Wizarding World film since Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, originally wanted for Grindelwald.

I think the parselmouth might be Queenie, there's a slight of hand in TCoG when she hears everyone's voice and even for a Ligilimens, that scene was extreme because New York is much louder but she keeps her senses (mostly thanks to Tina) but it have me asking, is that why she was able to raise Jacob? However this series could do with a Peace Maker style show just to flush the world out a bit more

Water was actually way more prevelent in this movie than any of the others, the water fall, dumbledore useing a spell that looks like it has a water like state, credence landing in a pudle use of puddles of blood and multiple other liquids wine as one the storm spell the mist spell, the veiw from across the late to hogwarts water is massively prevelent in the background of this movie be in in liquids, mist or even snow nearly every location in the movie has eather water of some sort or snow in or around it

@QueenMushu ya and as he was laying in the waterwith the phoenix flapping over him it was pushing back the obsucial and that was the one time in the film we saw credence with some actual color in his skin and that colour goes away very quickly as the phoenix flys away

@QueenMushu possiblely it would also explain why dumbledore had an obsetion with finding a phoenix in his youth but I suspect newt used a different way to get the obsuris he has in the case because the girl he got that off died after he took it out
