That was the best tire info I've seen regarding inflation. MAJOR props for that! I knew you had to inflate them more to compensate upgrading the tire but I didn't know exact numbers THANKS. I've been running 42lbs on my tires after trial and error of liking the way they ride which also turns out is the exact number I should be at using the charts you provided. Again TY TY

Good and Bad sides of the video. The Bad: You either need to get away from the back ground noise, or get a microphone so you can be heard clear and louder, over the background noise. The Good: This is a great training video about tires, in general. It has awesome information about the tread of tires and how to figure out sizes and how much air to keep in your tires. This is one of the most thorough videos I have seen. Keep up the great work!!!

This week, I installed some AT3's on my 2020 Dodge Durango GT AWD with the Tow-N-Go package. I was looking for a 3PMS rated tire. I work for a water utility. And the roads get icy between my house, and the job. There were only 3 brands that had sizes that would fit my vehicle. Toyo is the most expensive. But seemed the most durable, with the best handling for bumps and tight mountain roads. The Cooper AT3 4s, and the Falken AT3. May have cost less. But did NOT add up to a good value. These tires are way superior to the Toyo AT2 tires that I tried back in '04. I was so disappointed in those tires. Awesome traction in the snow and offroad. But a horrible ride on rough pavement. And I had them taken off, and went with a different brand for my '03 Ford Explorer 4wd. These tires are superior to the Toyo HT's that I tried on a '14 Chrysler Town & Country van. They gave an awesome ride on rough interstate highway. Handled well in the wind. The flaw was how they slipped every time on a left turn from a stop! Not the thing I wanted to experience in traffic. The new compound is the secret sauce that makes the AT3 such a good tire. The ride, the grip, the handling seem fantastic! These tires have a superior ride to the Bridgestone 422 tires that came stock. And I am glad that I threw them away after only 20k miles. Those tires had probably 80% of their life left. But the rough pavement ride and noise were horrible! And I hate to stop and put on traction devices in states like Oregon. I carry the Autosock for all 4 tires. But I can be lazy with these tires. And just stay warm and keep driving, when I visit the my daughter, son-in-law, and the grandkids in Northern Idaho. At some future date, after this crazy virus.

Great video thanks, I'm just curious if I wasn't going to do any offroading and was going to use the AT3 tire on a 2011 GMC 1500. Would you recommend staying with a Pmetric tire vs LT tire for my pickup? Generally Pmetric last longer right?
@bergieoff-road67064 жыл бұрын
Hey Dana T, Thank you for your comments. The P-metric tire would be a great choice for you if you want to keep the ride quality (similar to your OE tire) and want a long wear-life. The P-metric tire allows you to continue to use your OE recommended air pressures, unlike the LT-metric, which requires increased inflation pressures. You will still get the benefits of excellent traction off-road traction and performance in snow. The P-metric tire has high silica content in the tread compound, which will result in improved wet handling and traction. The cost of a P-metric tire can be substantially lower as well and it comes with a 65k mile treadwear warranty too. I hope this helps.

I also have a 2015 Land Cruiser and I'm running LT285/65R18 BFG KO2 tires but i'm planning on new Toyo tires and Fuel wheels soon. Do you run 45 PSI all the time? I've been running 36 PSI with it empty and it seems fine and rides much better. Do the Toyo A/T IIIs have softer sidewall than the BFG KO2s? They seem to ride very stiff and the cruiser seems to wonder left to right all the time. I just had it aligned with no improvement.

I rarely see these tire inflation charts mentioned as they are not an item which is known to exist by most consumers. I realize this is a video from quite a while ago but I wanted to point out that lets say it was a pickup that came with LT tires from the factory ( so the P to LT reduction formulation isn't required in this instance as it was already taken into consideration ) and so lets say the door jamb placard says 44 psi at such and such a maximum GAWR ( gross axle weight rating ) . However that is at the maximum axle weight rating that 44 psi would be required, what it does not indicate is what YOUR individual axle weights are. Perhaps the truck is driven around very lightly loaded all the time and having the tires inflated to the maximum axle weight capability is going to cause a harsh ride for no good reason as well as the tire wearing in the center of the tread as its essentially over inflated for the weight its carrying. So that leads back to those charts and actually weighing the vehicles axles independently with full fuel and the typical max people load that is used. Then look at the chart for your tire size in the LT construction type of tire and see where your actual axle weight falls into psi recommend wise. Keeping in mind that LT tires for the most part list a minimum operating pressure of 35 psi no matter how much less weight in this example your axle is below the carrying rating at 35 psi. Obviously that same pickup could one day be loaded up with considerable weight in the box or a heavy hitch load with a trailer and then the tires would have to be inflated accordingly to the weight being carried at that time. Of course one never wants to be running under inflated at high speeds and hot ambient conditions, that is a recipe for a potential blowout.

18:37 The table on the website for OE Specifications is not accurate. For my truck it lists 35/35 psi, my door placard calls for 43/43 psi. 2019 F150 265/60/18. And I really wish yall would have given the P metric tires the same sidewall as the LT versions. That's the only thing holding me back from getting the ATIII.
@bergieoff-road67063 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your feedback on the P metric tires. I'll see what we can do. Regarding your placard pressure concern, if your placard states 43/43, on an F-150, there was likely an LT-metric tire as the OE tire. If our tire finder is incorrect, we'd like to correct it. Can you tell me what trim and drive type you have? From what I can tell, the King Ranch, Lariat, XLT and XL 4X2 models with 265/60R18 all have 35/35 listed. The only outlier is the XLT w/H.D. Payload Pkg. that one comes with an LT option and both require 40/40 psi according to the placard.
@MikeyDfromTN2 жыл бұрын
So do both the P metric and truck metric have improved wet handling or just P metric ? Also what tires are shown in testing and which load range are shown on your vehicle ? Also dumb question if LT tires are for hauling heavier loads why does the math come out to more inflation and less towing weight ?

What would be the advantages of buying a LT tire if you have to run more air to get the load as of a p metric
@bergieoff-road67063 жыл бұрын
LT-metric tires were originally designed for 3/4 and 1-ton trucks. The wire gauge in the steel belts is a larger diameter, the bead wire in most cases will have more windings as well. The fabric used in the body plies is usually different as well. In short, the LT-metric is very heavy duty and is needed for the larger capacity trucks. If you have a lighter weight truck, SUV or even CUV, there are many benefits to using a P-metric tire.

Way to go Toyo for providing the inflation tables. I wish other manufacturers did this! Currently my F150 is riding on a set of Duratrac's in LT275/65R18 E...I had to beg Goodyear to get me inflation information so I could figure out what PSI to run. I am curious though, when these wear out (can't be soon enough as they are LOUD and getting louder as they wear), would you recommend that I stay with an LT tire or go back to a P-Metric? I live in a very rural area of NW, Wisconsin, drive a lot of unpaved forest roads and pull a camper multiple times a year (oh and I live where it snows...a lot).
@bergieoff-road67063 жыл бұрын
If the unpaved forest roads have a lot of ruts or large bumps that you might hit at high speed, I might recommend going into another LT-metric tire. Toyo also offers an Open Country C/T tire that carries the 3PMS and is very durable. The C/T is our Commercial grade Traction tire. It is a very popular replacement for the GY Duratrac. Our new A/T III will be more comfortable and quieter. You have some good choices...
@travisaugustine72643 жыл бұрын
@@bergieoff-road6706 no doubt I have a lot of good choices when the time comes. In a lot of ways I feel like the Duratrac is overkill for my needs because the forest roads are gravel with some potholes. In the meantime, here is a video you may enjoy that shows the new Open Country A/T III being put through its paces in Mexico. nam02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3Dza653LDo4Yo&data=02%7C01%7Cbergesont%40toyotires.com%7C39ea62fc02fc444a145308d8123d39ea%7C32168100e35d4fa99199506c69823d1c%7C0%7C0%7C637279401459580171&sdata=giE0Rpy3oJdZTWxQgUDjaKPj3baoK1xePFmUkGnvx0M%3D&reserved=0

@@bergieoff-road6706 Another video which did me no good. I can jump my tires also. Show the truth! I'd bet $ 2 +++ years later he isn't running those tires. No, I'm not bashing Toyos by no means. I've never owned a set, can't afford them. I just don't think those would do me justice. Plus I'm trying to figure out if I can go from a 265/50/20 to a 265/60/20 without rubbing. I want something pretty aggressive. It's tough to find something or very limited lol.

How’s the mileage? Does it change? If you go 55mph are you going 60 with your tires?

that is not what mileage means

Why did you try to block out the license plate on the Toyota?
@bergieoff-road67063 жыл бұрын
Good question...that truck is all over Instagram. I guess I was trying to protect their anonymity. I'm still learning video editing and practicing blocking out license plates of a moving truck is good practice. Thanks for watching the video!

@@bergieoff-road6706 Great video. I have a 3rd gen Tacoma and will be buying this tire. I just can’t seem to decide between P or LT. weight/rougher ride on the LT but is it more of an upgrade to go with LT? (Looks/puncture resistance) I do offroad, but about 90% onroad. Thank you I really appreciate just a short simple answer

I could only make it to 12:25... seems like you guys are trying to over sell this tire just like you did with the ATll and those were horrible in wet conditions. Hopefully you guys really did up your game this time. As of right now the Cooper AT3XLT and the Falken Wildpeaks AT3W are spanking you guys in the real world reviews and not reviews by obvious paid sponsors. Time will tell!

Hey, thanks for at least watching 12.25 of the video. I'm not a paid sponsor...I am an employee of Toyo Tires. I introduced myself at the beginning. I'm sorry if you feel misled in any way. To answer your question...Yes, we did up our game with the A/T III. Not to oversell it...we tested against those you mentioned along with other competitors in the segment and I'll just say we are very pleased with the testing results. I'm sure you will be very pleased too, if you give them a try. Thanks for your comments.

Just curious, I am thinking of getting a 2014/2015 Audi Q7 TDI and putting some Toyo tires on it. I believe with the cameras they now makes available for SUVs for the driver to see all around their vehicles when driving, more will be using them for getting into the back country, as well as highway driving. I'd love to put some decent tires on a Q7, then go over Black Bear Pass in Colorado with it. Others drive their $100K Jeeps over it. Why not do it with an Audi?!!! The "Ultimate" Audi challenge! What do you think? Hahaha! (Facebook: facebook.com/BillKnudson3 )

Does the Q7 have low range? I know the newer ones don’t. That would be the primary concern off-road, especially black bear pass.
