@@AndyPMercedesBenzChannel I had trouble with the ratcheting device on the starter shaft in an '05 Camry. The grease was so thick that it would hold back the ratcheting pawls in cold weather, allowing the ratchet to slip. I was unable to access the pawls because the ratcheting device was stamped together, so I liberally oiled it with light lubricants, which I think diluted and flushed out some if not most of the heavy grease. Hopefully the resulting mixture will stay thin enough to allow the return springs to push the pawls into position even in the coldest weather.

Did you disassemble and clean your starter before filming this? I have pulled mine apart and it is incredibly dirty with grease and carbon dust. Yours looks like it has nothing in it. Do I need to clean anything other than sanding the contacts on the roller and in between each bar?

Yes, i cleaned it before filming 😄. It had lots of carbon dust.

Great video, thanks for posting. Which grease are you using? I guess good old WD-40 isn't best solution here.

probably not, WD stands for "water displacement"

this retaining ring hold the rotor from moving forward, you better put it back

I doubt that this is for Corolla 2003-2008, maybe up to to 2005?

maybe, but this Corolla model ran upto 2008.

@@AndyPMercedesBenzChannel you are right. i was misguided by an amazon seller and bought the wrong brush part. i later bought the correct one after i opened mine and found the same brush as yours. mine is 2006 corolla.
