@mariolopez16132 жыл бұрын
To what would your anchor to the trap and floater .I assume with 2 stakes.
@kevinskattebo85555 жыл бұрын
I like the design, would be great in Wisconsin where the trap has to be half submerged but seems really heavy though
@TheWildYam8 жыл бұрын
Good design Dave. Would you also put poplar branches where the beaver castor lure holder is located too as an additional visual attractant?
@trappingworld64638 жыл бұрын
Hey Jen... Poplar would be an added attraction for sure. I just used scent last year and it worked great but any extra can only help.

How many beaver will it take to pay for one of those contraptions and you're going to build a few.
@michaelbrigman35168 жыл бұрын
Good video. I could have used one of these on a beaver job I did last month. I'll have to try building one for myself. Since the bottom of the float is open what keeps the beaver from just swimming under to get the lure? Thanks.
@trappingworld64638 жыл бұрын
Not sure but they don't seem to do it. I think the opening just looks to inviting for them.

I have build one with slots like marten box and full végétation screen on bottom fake castor mounted in far end it looks like floating island and suit case catch
@DreamQuest20228 жыл бұрын
That is one heck of a float ! Are you going to put grass or weeds through the mesh to help camouflage it?
@trappingworld64638 жыл бұрын
I did that last year on a few but then tried it witout and it did not seem to make any difference.
@chadcampbell92798 жыл бұрын
Franky Hayhurst made them but he used 3/4 inch plywood
@trappingworld64638 жыл бұрын
Ya lots of different ways. Never was keen on plywood in the water though. Doesn't last long.

How did they perform?

These floats work wonders in the spring when the water is fluctuating alot.

Instead of buying speed dip every year for Yote leg hold traps that i use for dirt hole sets would tremclad with gas work
@chadcampbell92798 жыл бұрын
Do you use speed dip on beaver traps or use spray paint.i heard u can use spray on beaver traps.
@trappingworld64638 жыл бұрын
I use a mix of 1 part black tremcladf paint and 5 parts high test gas. Dip and hang well before the season so the gas evaporates and you are good to go.
@jakelundgren79335 жыл бұрын
could you share the dimensions?
@chadcampbell92798 жыл бұрын
Do you do that with your conibears for fisher and martin too
@trappingworld64638 жыл бұрын
Ya Chad, I do that with all my traps. Even my wolf rams. But generally it only has to be done every second year it seems.
