I owned a '92 and a '93 and combined rode them 150K miles. Other than being somewhat top-heavy (DOHC 4s are), which a small guy like me struggled with on the driveway and very tight slow turns, they were reliable, comfortable, well-performing bikes. Had to rebuild the starter, a bit of high mileage valve cover seepage, and faulty tachs (93 and later models fixed this) and that was it for repair. Regular maintenance was oil changes, chain adjust, brake pads, and new tires when needed. Valves were self-adjusting, as was the timing chain. True, nobody told me how cool my bike was, but seeing them scrunched or stretched out of shape on crotch rockets and radical cruisers, I, sitting easy chair upright, didn't care. The 91-03 CB750 Nighthawk 750 is a winner. Grab one if you can. Hold the one you've got.

Just bought a 92. I can't wait to take it on a long drive but not before I have a shop go over it first. It's 2 wheels , not much room for error. Better safe than sorry. Great video btw

I currently own a '99 Nighthawk 750, it used to be my brothers but he stopped riding about the same time parts off my old Vulcan were stolen so sbout 4 years. He got himself a BMW K1200LT, and since he didn't need the Nighthawk and he knew I wanted to start riding again, he sold it to me. Even after all the water damage, drops from high wind and storms, and no use for those 4 years, we put new oil and gas in it and it started right up. After a bit more tinkering to get it ready for my 5 hour trip back home, it's been amazing. I've dropped it a couple times, once was a brake failure at ~45mph about to go into an intersection with heavy traffic so I dumped it, second time was my own fault, went to ask a guy for help and I hit the front brake too hard on a slight incline and dropped it. It's been an amazing bike with commuting and doing the trips I've wanted to do for a long time, if I had more money I'd try to restore it back to it's factory new look. It's got some hiccups here and there, bike doesn't like anything temps lower than 60F and will die idling below the temp, after the dump to avoid traffic I hit the engine on the curb so the Cylinder Head Cover has a VERY slow leak from the gasket but not enough to cause a concern, and the shifter leaks oil at a very slow rate as well but only when not running. I will continue working on it but can't fix everything right now due to low income right now but I will try and keep it up and running for as long as I can.

So I remember watching these videos way back in July when as a completely new rider I bought a 2002 Seven Fifty to learn on. Figured it was cheap and if I dropped it then no biggie. Now I’m a lot more experienced but still haven’t gotten my license yet (Sweden !) and been practicing a lot in an underground garage. Now with months of riding under my belt I appreciate this video more and more. A part of me actually thinks maybe I’ll keep this bike for a while and not sell it to get a newer one as I had planned

I have a 95 night hawk and I love it too. The best thing is how smooth it is and well built. Just the right amount of power and extremely pleasant to ride. Heavy enough for highway too. Laid back but fast. So comfortable. Good mileage. Engine is so good. It’s kind of perfect for everyday riding.

Total agreemwnt. Rock solid reliable, gorgeous on the eyes, good brakes, but...yes, very top heavy and in the curves can be a bit nervous. And, actually pretty poor mileage. On balance? Still a solid buy. Very very fast, catchy acceleration, but just fine as long as you respect it.

I just picked up a 1983 CB650 Nighthawk. The thing is comfortable with good power delivery.. I always wanted a Harley.... Then I bought a metric and been riding metrics ever since

I have an 85 Nighthawk 650 and I am 5’11” 230lbs, it is a perfect bike for me. If I did get another it might be this 750.

Well I’m like you lol i recently bought a 99 cd750 nighthawk for my First bike and i love it. I got it because it was super cheap. Didn’t know much about it when i got it. Just didn’t want to spend a lot on my first learning bike. Wasn’t running good had to clean the carbs change the chain and a mouse built a home in the air filter lol Original parts except i had to change broken blinkers and mirrors. I might need a new clutch i can never find neutral and when i do find it by accident the light never comes on. Unless its in neutral at a cold start. Ive been looking for decent saddlebags there isn’t a lot of room under my seat i wish you showed what you put in yours wonder if its different then mine.

my fist bike was a yamaha venture 1200 lol rode it all over no helmet or registration till i wizened up

im 240 5' 11 and the cb650c will go 80 all day and pulls huge hills as fast as i want to go no issue

i agree i just bought a 81 cb650c and want to bobber it so bad but it only has 6400miles and is near mint no dings dents scratches and hardly any rust very minimal surface rust

This is for you and all who have one. 1991-2003. Cali bike 110 main jet, rest of US 112. For good running put in 115 main, small washer on needle, and 3 turns out on pilot screws. Then 30 sec. warm up, choke off and gone. No wonder your Cali. bike is so cold blooded. If you add a pipe, richer yet. Still $2000 for a decent one. I like the 2003 version, black engine, red paint. Still want to get one but still like my 2015 FJ-09.

I have the UK version, the CB750f2r. It's a super, all day long comfortable, machine. I'm on my second. They make rubbish 2nd hand money in the UK compared with e.g. Triumphs of the same period. These will take you from one end of this country to the other and you can still walk at the end of the ride !. Beware crap petrol adulterated with ethanol though, use a octane booster that will counteract the stuff's rubber eating effects of your petrol petcock diaphragm will go west, as mine did.

The long warm up is down to how lean air cooled bikes were to (allegedly) lower emissions. a simple re-jetting (needle shims) made them much nicer to live with. It's a shame so many bike mags looked down on the Nighthawk while singing the praises of Brit retro standards and HD Sportsters. The Honda is a much better bike in many ways. The worse thing you can say about is (IMHO) is it's a little bland. BTW the average American male is 5' 9'' not 6 feet, the Nighthawk has a low enough seat for anyone with a 30+ inch inseam.

Cool bike, just bought one with title for $100. Needs work of course for that price. Can’t wait to fix it. Running into a cafe racer because is missing allot of parts and it would just cost so much to get it to its original state.

2 things: How many rpm you turn at 70mph and how many miles can you go on a full tank before reserve? I think many NHawk riders would like to know that. Great bike 👌👌👌

you've got to have an air leak somewhere around the carbs for it to rev like that. yeah, you still need to warm it up, but turning off the choke should not make it rev. thats weird. get some canned air, put the little straw in it, and spray around your intake, carb boots, airbox....is there an air filter in it? idk, whoever cleaned that carb last missed something.

I agree they are really good looking mine doesn't have the storage doesn't matter mine 650 needs work only has 11000 miles but the thing was neglected I wish I had a place to rebuild her or had someone to help me because this is my first motorcycle I don't think I have the Cal. Carbs not sure I need new mirrors I think I am going to have trouble finding a set mine are black I am 6ft tall and the 650 fit me fine wish I could have found a 750 you I am 62 years old drove trailer trucks speed boats so I know how to shift gears etc. Wish I had the wind screen like yours !!!!!!!

These bikes were jetted way too lean for emissions. Shim the carb needles 0.020 and it'll wake up and help with that little flat spot around 3k

I know you said you wouldn't recommend this as a first motorcycle but that's what I'm looking for and I've got an odd set of circumstances. My house is right on a highway, I have to pull out of the drive and get up to 55 mph right away and that's considering that there aren't any idiots out acting a fool when I'm riding. What I want is something that is good at a lot of things but not great at anything like a Swiss army knife. Do you think this is a good, bad or indifferent choice for my first given my circumstances?
