Incredible! I've been singing almost daily for 40 years and never came across anything that works as well as the straw phonation move. Thank you so much , when my throat feels the way it feels after doing that exercise I'm unstoppable . It's a chain reaction with me when my throat feels great I'm naturally so much more relaxed and when your throat feels great and your body is loose performing for an audience that's hanging on your every word and emotion your delivering . That's the best high in the world. I don't know what my life would be without singing. It has given me so much. You're a vocal saint Dan. That's my dads, brother and sons name. Thanks again! As I'm typing this to the right there's a thumbnail with a guy posing like he's singing with the title Transform your Voice in just ONE HOUR ! Man where was he in 1983 ? Could've had these skills before I went to bed that night! Pleaseeeee an hour. Funny thing is, it's got almost 200 thousand views . Where are all these incredibly skillful overnight singing sensations?

Hey, it's so awesome to hear that the straw phonation exercise has made such a huge difference for you! It's amazing how a simple trick can really change the game when it comes to singing. I'm super glad it's helped you feel even more confident and relaxed on stage. It's fantastic that singing has brought you so much happiness and meaning in your life. Music really is something special, isn't it? And about that "Transform your Voice in just ONE HOUR" video, well, sometimes those things can be helpful, but there's just no substitute for the dedication and hard work you've put into your singing all these years. You can't rush greatness, right? Thanks for the lovely compliments, and I'm really stoked to have been a part of your vocal journey. Keep on singing your heart out and spreading the joy of music with everyone around you!

Call centre agent. Voice is … hurting bad, week 3. I notice the most issues come from when I switch to French as I modulate and lower my voice more - English I’m usually up a whole octave or two normally. I told my employer I can’t do back to back calls not just for psychological issues but it wears my voice out too hard so that I can barely talk on my off time. Having to repeat myself over and over is very painful, with other agents and customers. Oh the pain.

Great video! After the support musculature gets fatigued, which can be surprisingly soon if you are a beginner, trying new techniques, or just out of singing shape after a lay off (hello 2020?) then fatigue of the folds is sure to follow imminently. Unfortunately that can then last for days if you don't recognise it early.

Question Dr. Dan, my day job forces me to speak constantly for 6-8 hours six days per week. It tends to get so bad that I've noticed significant loss of range and loss of breath management to the point where I cough when I sing particularly long lines without plenty of breaths in between and my throat drys out quickly no matter how much water I seem to drink. How can I keep my voice in good shape while doing a job that demands so much of my voice?

Hey Dr.Dan, how many times a day would you suggest doing the straw phonation exercises? and should I give my voice a relative rest after the exercises?
@DrDanRobinson
@DrDanRobinson Жыл бұрын
As a general guideline, you can practice straw phonation exercises once or twice a day, depending on your vocal needs and comfort level. Sessions can last around 5-10 minutes or up to 15 minutes for more advanced singers. It's essential to listen to your body and pay attention to how your voice feels during and after the exercises. If you experience any discomfort or fatigue, it's a good idea to rest your voice or reduce the frequency of the exercises. Always prioritise vocal health and avoid pushing yourself too hard.

Sir, i have been suffering from this problem for the last 1 year. I have seen many doctors. But I did not recover well. Sir I will tell you everything in full details today. Last year I was sing with deep voice tone. I keep singing with lower voice on high notes about 2-3 days in a row. It's an improper technique. I feel in my throat something went wrong. But i didn’t stop this shit. Sir, singing with lower voice was harmful for my vocal cord. At the end of 3 days, as a result of singing like this in the evening i was singing like that and it feels like I am bleeding from inside throat and suddenly I feel sore throat. Since then I have not been able to speak and sing normally. Sometimes I have trouble swallowing and feel dizzy inside. And a blood like taste come from inside of the throat. my voice sound different in different days. sometimes voice sound quite good but after few days it change and i can't talk well. It's a cycle. Sometimes i feel tightness in throat. Sir, do I have a chance to get a vocal cord scar? No growth was seen in my Vocal Cord through FOL test. The doctors said I had an infection in my left vocal cord. It is not recovering. I Don't have any nodules or polyps. My fear is that if there is vocal cord scar then it will not recover. Tell me something Last 1 year i can't talk normally and that's why i am in depression right now. I Just want to know what's going on my vocal cords after singing too low? After that i dont misuse my voice. But still why i am not recovering after 1 year help me Please? :(

What do you mean by fold back?
@DrDanRobinson
@DrDanRobinson Жыл бұрын
"Foldback" (also known as "monitoring") refers to the process of routing an audio signal from a source back towards the performers so they can hear themselves during a live performance or recording session. In a live music context, foldback speakers (also known as stage monitors) are usually positioned on stage, facing the performers. They play a mix of various instruments and vocals that are designed to help the performers hear themselves and each other clearly. This is crucial for maintaining the correct pitch and rhythm. In a recording studio, the foldback mix is typically provided through headphones to the musicians or vocalists. This allows them to hear their own performance and any backing tracks, click tracks, or other performers. In summary, foldback is a crucial aspect of live and studio music production, allowing performers to hear a clear and balanced mix of the music as they perform.
