Glad you liked it though! =) In the game, Bill and Frank didn't get quite the happy life they did in the show. Frank was eventually so frustrated by the stubborness and paranoia of bill that he left. Sadly, he didn't make it far before getting bitten. Joel, Ellie and Bill find him after he hanged(hung? Not a native speaker, sorry) himself. Bill survives, all bitter and alone. For me, the show variation on the bill and frank-tale is a sweet and welcomed ray of light in an otherwise dark and often heartbreaking story.

The characters Bill and Frank are in the game. However you never meet frank while he's alive. Bill is alive and the dialog between Bill and Ellie is pretty good. It's hinted that Bill and Frank were in a relationship but you only ever hear Bill call Frank his partner. By the time Joel and Elie get there Bill and Frank have split up and frank is already dead. Having took his own life after being bitten.

Never seen anyone try to connect Marlene to Joel like that. We never got any info in the game regarding Sarah's mom or Ellie's dad either.

This episode had more to do with Joel's character than one maybe realize. Even if you haven't seen him that much. Bill and Joel are both bitter and alone. However, the development of Bill clearly showed the differences, as one of them was willing to let a person into his life. As a result, despite the almost similar mindsets at the beginning, Bill got a long full and happy life. Joel, on the other hand, is stuck. So yes, the episode was important and not just because of the farewell letter at the end. It showed that there is hope, even if Joel doesn't have one yet. This episode showed that people are important to be happy. We are usually herd animals. The parallel to the infected is Frank here in this episode. The head is clear, but his parkinson has control over his body. The infected are at least partly aware of their actions, at least in the first stage in the game. They cry while "eating" their victims. And through this episode we also know that Tess and Joel have known each other for more than 13 years and that they were still "decent" people 7 years after the outbreak. At least that's what Joel says to Bill here. I think that is doubtful. I think Joel just wanted to do business. I think Joel pulled Tess down emotionally over the years that followed and made her harder and ruthless. Tess told Ellie that they weren't good people and just before her death she told Joel to do all the shit they did right.

Spoiler fact! Your prediction of Marlene being the mother of Sarah is completely wrong. In the game, Sarah's Mom was never shown, in pictures or anything else. Her name was never revealed. She was only mentioned in a conversation with Ellie and Joel that he and his former wife had Sarah at a young age. Please note that several of the ethnicities of certain characters in the game have differed much in the adaptation. This fact does not change the storyline in any way. So this is why your prediction is wrong. In the game, Sarah is white, in the show she's mixed. Marlene is not her mother. I like the changes made in this game and that includes the latter. Marlene btw, is played and acted in this show by the same actress from the game 10 years ago. Such an awesome cast.

I do like this episode, but one thing bothered me. I don't believe Bill and Frank survived for so long without being overrun. Bill made a giant fence around his compound. Which would be a main target for all the raiders. And there's no way the electricity and the water would be running for so long. The only thing I can chop it up to is just pure luck.

people who moan about whether they're "zombies or infected" are just being pedantic. they're functionally zombies, narratively they're different but it ultimately makes little to no difference and they're just being annoying for the sake of it. also marlene looks to be mid to late 30s when we see her, which is 20 years after we met sarah, i think you might have your first wrong prediction 🤣🤣 This was one of the most beautiful episodes of TV i've ever seen, and i love that homophobes are mad about it.
