I plugged them and turned them on & the sound was so good I kept checking to see if it was coming out of my Yamaha Surround sound stereo system & after doing the a few times I realized I was wearing the nicest pair of wireless headphones I'd ever used in my 61 years on the planet. Hundreds of concerts including Led Zeppelin 1975 San Diego Sports Arena... :)

This will be my third set of Sennheiser headphones. My first was HD555 nearly 13 years ago and I’ve just updated to HD650 because the 555s were so good and are still like new. So of course I turned to Sennheiser when I got fed up turning the TV up (often right up to 100%) and down for my deaf husband, who can’t handle technology since he had a stroke. Thank you for the video. If, once the headphones arrive, I can’t get them set up even with your help, at least I know a tv expert who can do it.

Great tutorial and outstanding headphones. Their technical support are very knowledgeable and among the best. They were able to quickly walk me through a problem with connecting to my Samsung UHDtv. Neither Samsung or Best Buy were able to help. You may need to enable the PCM setting under the sound settings as the video suggests.

A superb tutorial with excellent diction, I found this extremely helpful for one of my models, which is still working perfectly, I have 3 different models of Sennheiser as i only purchase German, European or Japanese products as they are the best quality & strictly never purchase any sub standard American rubbish.

sometimes when i listen to these, when they are plugged into my stereo system to listen to my vinyl records, the volume drops on some parts in the music.. slightly.. i don't have this when i switch to the optical cable to my tv, and listen to music on my tv.. any thoughts?

I just bought the RS175. After inserting the supplied batteries into the headset and putting it on the headset dock to charge it yesterday, the battery light is still red after charging it for more than 16 hours. The instruction manual says you only need to charge it for 16 hours the first time and the battery indicator light will turn green. Can Sennheiser or someone advise me what is the problem and how should it be resolved?

this is an 8 year old video; Im contemplating getting this model online as it is 40 to 45% the original price of 200USD but today is already 2023. Im worried that the batteries have conked out since Im sure these are old stocks.

Amazing video. I’m glad he mentioned the TV settings maybe having to be changed as my Sony wireless headphones use 1 setting on my Samsung TV while these use a different setting

Tarun Gautam Yes you can, though the normal analogue (aux) cable. Unless you have an iPhone 7 or above.

no. because this uses radio transmission instead of bluetooth. it is wayyy faster.

@@jonlough3074 I did the PCM thing twice and it didn't work and when I change it back the setting it was before don't get sound through the tv speakers and I had to reset my TV the get sound back.

Depuis quelque temps le son n'est plus clair. La synchronisation HF se décale légèrement. Y a-t'il un moyen d'effacer l'appairage et de le réappairer. Merci pour vos réponses.

I have just bought a Rs175u i have not plugged it in yet , if it is all connected how and you have no Tv sound on the Tv speakers , thats ok , but then when you want to listen to the Tv without the headset and use the Tv speakers only what do you have to do . Thanks

I have a bluetooth transmitter that I attached to the optical out of the TV. My bluetooth headphones connect to that transmitter. Even though I am using the optical out output of the TV, the TV still produces sound via its speakers. That I have to mute if I want to exclusively use my headphones. If I dont mute the TV, my headphone still works but there is also sound in the room via the Tv speakers. I suppose it is the same with these seinheser since it uses the Optical out port.

I have just purchased a set of these headphones,when connecting the optical cable to the base the flap on the opening broke I don’t know why. I have sent them back to Amazon, hope the replacement set doesn’t do the same 🙏🙏🙏

i have issues whereby the headphones cut out sound very disappointing, i have had many Sennheiser headphone (ALL RF) ion the same exact area in front of my pc.

We have a new TV. Our soundbar is plugged into the optical outlet on our TV? I do not have an extra space on my tv to plug the optical cord in. I tried pluggin the cord into our OPtik TV box but did not work. What else can I do?

Unplug the sound bar from the tv & plug the headphones into that jack. No use to have the sound bar plugged in when you're using headphones anyway.

Why would the optical cable in the digital audio output be loose not to seem to fit snugly into the tv . Plastic covers etc are removed

Usually a TOS link has to be rotated and installed with a certain orientation. If it's turned right and still loose then possibly the little nub on the end is damaged. Alternatively, it's possible the optical out port on the TV is damaged.

I’m having trouble connecting the IRS 175 headphones to my TV the green light keeps flashing I have LG TV doesn’t have stereo or PCM It has standard music cinema sports and gaming which one do I connect at what I have tried all of them and the green light still flashes :( I’m hoping someone could tell me how to connect it

In my experience using surround sound settings with headphones isn't as good as regular 2.0 stereo for sound positioning

Yours probably has Bluetooth. My 2017 Samsung TV has no Bluetooth but has Optical out and no 3.5mm jack. My other 2019 Samsung TV has Bluetooth and optical out but no 3.5 mm jack.

I am using the optical cable which gives me better sound, however, the TV volume still plays, the whole idea is that the TV should be mute so that I don't disturb others in the household. Also, when using the audio cable there is a din which remains all the time. Can anyone help please.

Just mute the TV with the remote. It will not affect the volume levels via the optical out port. You control that with whatever device you have connected there like in this case a base transmitter or in my case a bluetooth transmitter connected to my headphones.

Check your TV's audio settings and try toggling any codecs on/off (Dolby, etc). A good exercise is to try the headphones on another source; if they work on another device (TV, laptop, etc) then you know its a configuration issue with the TV.

I too was having problem with no sound on Netflix. My TV is a Samsung. I went to the TV settings. Went to the Optical sound setting. The setting was set on "Dolby" I switched it to "Normal" and I was able to hear sounds on Netflix. I was using the optical audio connection. Netflix sound was ok when using the analog cable.

I got these on Amazon and tried to connect them to my 5 yr old Hisense TV and no matter how I connected them they wouldn't work. Took to another tv, a Samsung that's less than 2 yrs old and they worked perfectly. Guess that older TV doesn't support wireless headphones. So I get to swap tvs. Oh well

I'm pretty disappointed with mine. The max volume is too quiet and it sounds kinda tinny. It definitely sounds like you're wearing headphones. The 5 year old Sound Blaster Recon 3D headphones I used before are tons better. That's not a good sign...but the reviews for these are so good, what the hell.

How are you connected? I noticed the tinny sound when I was connected with the 3.5 jack. When I switched it to optical it sounded amazing.

Zero documentation in the entire product or official tutorials that show where the power button "At the headphones" is actually located. Thanks for the no information. Do not even have a diagram labeled in the product paperwork from what I can tell.

I am very disappointed in this costly product. It will only function when I've selected my ROKU or BluRay devices. Doesn't work on our regular TV stations (via antenna), nor on Apple TV. Called about the difficulties with Apple TV, and received some extreme tech talk about adapters necessary, etc. Really a big let down.
